*** OFFICIAL January 2013 Thread ***

Hello!

I'd like to join this group please. :) My DS and I will be arriving on Dec 29 and staying until Jan 7th -- staying at AOA in the Little Mermaid area. This will be our 3rd trip, first time over New Years, and we will celebrate DS's 8th birthday on January 6th.

I am also posting in the December thread, but we'll actually be there for more days in January so I just realized I should pop over here to say hi ;)

January needs to hurry up and get here! I'm having Disney withdrawal. I'm already trying to plan my 2014 trip. That won't make time go any faster, but it gives me something to do! :lmao:

Just booked our January 16-21 trip this morning. We'll be staying at the Wilderness Lodge for the - um...4th time. WL is DH's favorite, theme-wise. I like that it is a tad less expensive than the other Deluxes.

What'll be new for us is that we'll be in a Deluxe room - Concierge level, here we come! Our dilemma was - and usually is - we have two kids. One boy, one girl. They are at an age where they WILL NOT share a bed. The bunk rooms at WL used to work great, but neither of them really "fits" on the top bunk anymore. We've also stayed at YC and Poly, where my daughter slept on the day bed. But she's outgrown it. So, we're going "all out" and staying at the Deluxe room.

Its a celebration - a month early - of my daughter's 13th birthday. I'm so excited I can't stand it!

We're making our regularly scheduled Homeschool Days trip in January. We'll be at AKL-Kidani from 1/26-2/9.

Firsts for us on this trip are our decision to take the Autotrain instead of flying, and our plan to hit Discovery Cove for our daughter's 13th birthday celebration, and Seaworld/Aquatica since the admission is included with Discovery Cove.

Not as many ADR's as usual. That's another new thing. Since we have the car and will spend several days offsite, and since we'll be 6 Disney Adults this year instead of 3 adults and 3 kids, we're going Out of Pocket for food costs!!!! Scary after 10 years of dining plans, but I think it'll be more economical and make moving around easier. On the downside, it means we'll be paying the upcharge for our youngest daughter's gluten-free meals.

Oh, I'd love to be added to the FB group, but can't seem to find it on search. My FB is http://www.facebook.com/leigh.chen if someone can add me to the list.

Have you stayed at Kidani before? This will be a first stay in January and I am trying to learn as much about it before our trip.

Kidani is beautiful but the hallways are long. Request a room towards the center so it doesn't take you long to get to the lobby. The pool is great and if you want to go to Jambo, there is a shuttle between hotels.

Welcome to the thread!! AoA is going to be VERY popular!!

I agree! We are trying to decide whether to <gasp> skip 2014 or not. We ran out of DVC points this year so it would be good to skip a year...but I just have a hard time skipping while they are so young.

So what are you planning for 2014?

Welcome! Enjoy your special room -- it sounds great!

Wecome! I'll send you a FB friend request and once you friend me I can add you to the January group.

We LOVE, LOVE, LOVE taking the Autotrain!! If you have any questions, please ask. You can also look at any of my TR below and see pictures and stories from the train. My TR all have Table of Contents with page numbers so you can easily go to the train parts.

Also, there is an Autotrain thread on the Transportation Thread -- that has tons of photos and advice and the most current reports from people who just got back.

We are considering Discovery Cove, too, but I won't book it until we know what the weather is like 'for sure and for certain'. We went this past January and DC would have been fine...but earlier in the month, it wouldn't be enjoyable, even with the wet suits on.

I hope the weather is beautiful!!

Have you stayed at Kidani before? This will be a first stay in January and I am trying to learn as much about it before our trip.

Kidani is our 2nd favorite resort. Esp if you have a car, it is wonderful to be able to park right underneath your room and even in the shade (more important in summer time).

We just requested to be near an elevator and that worked for us. We were blessed to be the middle of the "U" and that was an excellent view. From our room you could look out and only see savannah -- no other rooms in our direct line of view.

Definitely take a day or half day, just to explore the resort. There are so many nooks and crannies of neat things -- art, stories, firepits, lounges, viewing spots, rocking chairs, etc. The whole pool and playground area is really neat too! My girls didn't want to leave!

Thanks for the tips on Kidani. I will make those requests on our reservation. I need to focus on our trip to Disney that starts tomorrow!!! Next week when I get back I will be able to focus more on the January trip.

Ooo, have a wonderful time and report back to us!! I didn't realize you were leaving tomorrow but now see that on your ticker.

Thank you, I just hope the kids hold up. I was so excited when I booked our flights that we will land at 8:15 am but didn't think about us having to leave our house at 3am to get to the airport. Here's hoping they sleep in the car or on the airplane. Otherwise after our ADR at Chef MIckey's for dinner tomorrow we will have an early night. I am hoping they at least make it for the campfire roast at 7:30pm.

I was able to extend my January trip an extra day, so now I'll be there 1/8 through 1/18. :thumbsup2 :wizard:

I'm still booked at AoA in a LM room, I was kind of surprised they were able to extend it since I've heard the LM rooms are mostly full for January. I was expecting to have to change to ASMo, which I might still do if FD or a good discount comes out.

Now I have to rearrange my ADRs! :)

Hi Everyone! So excited to be joining this thread! We'll be at Disney 1/19-1/26. We're staying off site at Orange Lake Resort. I'm having a blast planning our trip. I've been using TP and easyWDW and they vary greatly in their crowd calendar for that week as well as their recommended park for each day. Is one more accurate than the other? I'm hoping that it won't be that crowded that week so it won't make a big difference. We have 2 ADRs so far, one for dinner at Ohana for the day we arrive and one for lunch at Chefs de France later in the week. Thinking about making one more, but we can't decide on a place.

Joining in. I haven't booked yet but we have decided to surprise the kids with a Disney trip for Christmas. Right now I'm looking at 1/8-1/14 and staying at AoA (we JUST got back from Disney 4 days ago and stayed there, LOVED it). I am waiting to see what they offer for deals---hoping for free dining. I can do the military deal, but the FD ends up being a little better of a deal for me so waiting ever so impatiently to see what deals come out so I can book it!

Joining in . . . we're arriving via autotrain on the 26th, but will be spending that night with relatives near Sanford. We check into BWV on the 27th and out on Feb1, then one more night with the relatives and we're heading home on the autotrain on Feb 2nd.

(Just thought I'd mention the extended dates in case anyone is going to be on our train.) :)

Don't know about all of you, but January can't come quick enough. I'm hoping when my work ramps back up in October it will make the time go by faster! :thumbsup2

Please add me. 1st trip to Disney world do excited. Seasoned Disneyland traveler though. We start off at AofA in a little Mermaid room January 22nd, then at the beach club for a week and then 3 more nights at pop?! We have a 6 year old and a 3 year old...So excited!!

Add us to the list Jan 3-9 @ OKW/SSR. DH and I have a 2Br @ OKW and are expecting friends who live in the area to join us for a night or two. My Mom, Step- Dad, Sister, Brother in Law and Niece are staying at SSR. We will be celebrating DN's 6th Birthday. 124 Days and counting!!!

:wave2: Hi y'all! Will you please add us to the list?

We'll be staying at Coronado Springs 1/27-2/2 - can't wait! :goodvibes
