Hello!
I'd like to join this group please.

My DS and I will be arriving on Dec 29 and staying until Jan 7th -- staying at AOA in the Little Mermaid area. This will be our 3rd trip, first time over New Years, and we will celebrate DS's 8th birthday on January 6th.
I am also posting in the December thread, but we'll actually be there for more days in January so I just realized I should pop over here to say hi
Welcome to the thread!! AoA is going to be VERY popular!!
January needs to hurry up and get here! I'm having Disney withdrawal. I'm already trying to plan my 2014 trip. That won't make time go any faster, but it gives me something to do!
I agree! We are trying to decide whether to <gasp> skip 2014 or not. We ran out of DVC points this year so it would be good to skip a year...but I just have a hard time skipping while they are so young.
So what are you planning for 2014?
Just booked our January 16-21 trip this morning. We'll be staying at the Wilderness Lodge for the - um...4th time. WL is DH's favorite, theme-wise. I like that it is a tad less expensive than the other Deluxes.
What'll be new for us is that we'll be in a Deluxe room - Concierge level, here we come! Our dilemma was - and usually is - we have two kids. One boy, one girl. They are at an age where they WILL NOT share a bed. The bunk rooms at WL used to work great, but neither of them really "fits" on the top bunk anymore. We've also stayed at YC and Poly, where my daughter slept on the day bed. But she's outgrown it. So, we're going "all out" and staying at the Deluxe room.
Its a celebration - a month early - of my daughter's 13th birthday. I'm so excited I can't stand it!

Welcome! Enjoy your special room -- it sounds great!
We're making our regularly scheduled Homeschool Days trip in January. We'll be at AKL-Kidani from 1/26-2/9.
Firsts for us on this trip are our decision to take the Autotrain instead of flying, and our plan to hit Discovery Cove for our daughter's 13th birthday celebration, and Seaworld/Aquatica since the admission is included with Discovery Cove.
Not as many ADR's as usual. That's another new thing. Since we have the car and will spend several days offsite, and since we'll be 6 Disney Adults this year instead of 3 adults and 3 kids, we're going Out of Pocket for food costs!!!! Scary after 10 years of dining plans, but I think it'll be more economical and make moving around easier. On the downside, it means we'll be paying the upcharge for our youngest daughter's gluten-free meals.
Oh, I'd love to be added to the FB group, but can't seem to find it on search. My FB is
http://www.facebook.com/leigh.chen if someone can add me to the list.
Wecome! I'll send you a FB friend request and once you friend me I can add you to the January group.
We LOVE, LOVE, LOVE taking the Autotrain!! If you have any questions, please ask. You can also look at any of my TR below and see pictures and stories from the train. My TR all have Table of Contents with page numbers so you can easily go to the train parts.
Also, there is an Autotrain thread on the Transportation Thread -- that has tons of photos and advice and the most current reports from people who just got back.
We are considering Discovery Cove, too, but I won't book it until we know what the weather is like 'for sure and for certain'. We went this past January and DC would have been fine...but earlier in the month, it wouldn't be enjoyable, even with the wet suits on.
I hope the weather is beautiful!!
Have you stayed at Kidani before? This will be a first stay in January and I am trying to learn as much about it before our trip.
Kidani is our 2nd favorite resort. Esp if you have a car, it is wonderful to be able to park right underneath your room and even in the shade (more important in summer time).
We just requested to be near an elevator and that worked for us. We were blessed to be the middle of the "U" and that was an excellent view. From our room you could look out and only see savannah -- no other rooms in our direct line of view.
Definitely take a day or half day, just to explore the resort. There are so many nooks and crannies of neat things -- art, stories, firepits, lounges, viewing spots, rocking chairs, etc. The whole pool and playground area is really neat too! My girls didn't want to leave!
