Official 'how to get from point A to point B while at WDW' thread.

Hi,
Was wondering the best way to get from POFQ to Sanaa for lunch. 11:30 reservation. Should we go thru DS or AK?
Thanks!

About to take our first trip driving instead of flying. We will be staying at Fort Wilderness Campground, and visiting each park. Are there certain locations where it would make more sense to take Disney transportation- buses, boats, monorail than to drive our own vehicle? Would it be more appropriate to post this on the wilderness lodge board or here?

Also is there a specific link that tells the best way to get to and from Fort Wilderness and all the parks? (By best I guess I mean fastest- be it bus monorail car, etc)

We are staying at Shades of Green and had hoped to hop on the monorail at the Polynesian to get to Epcot before park opening. With the closings (this will be a Monday morning) I'm thinking that won't work. So how should I get to Epcot by 7:30am?

Even on a normal schedule, the Epcot monorail starts operation 1 hour before park opening, so it wouldn't get you to Epcot at 7:30.

I think your best option is Uber or Lyft. I don't think buses (to replace the monorail) will be running from Poly to Epcot that early, but I could be wrong.

The only other suggestion I have is to walk to TTC (roughly doubling the walk distance), and inquire at the Bus Info booth, near where the SOG buses drop off. They will usually try to accommodate you.

My husband is doing a business dinner at Yacht Club. We are staying at WL. My thought was boat to MK and then bus to YC. Is this the best option?

If you have park hoppers and don't not want to bus you could take monorail from TTC to Epcot. Walk through Epcot to International Gateway and then walk to YC. Although may not be practical if you are dressed up for this dinner. We tend to try and avoid buses as much as possible.

Sadly, he hates the parks and doesn't even get a ticket. Normally he doesn't even come with us, but there were business opportunities and I already had the hotel so here we are. :)

You have a choice of bus or boat from WL to MK.

The other option is a bus from WL to DHS followed by a boat to YC. I think going thru MK is better, though, because the boats that serve DHS are very slow, and sometimes they fill up around dinner time.

I am coming with my wife and 18 month old son in September. He will need a break in the afternoon and we are staying at CBR. Would it be easier to rent a car so we can come and go, or to use the buses?

I think the bus is easier.

Im going in September, staying at All Star Music, and there are ADRs I'd like help with:

-12pm Sanaa. I think the best would be to take a bus to Blizzard Beach and one to the resort from there, is that true?

-8:10 am Kona Cafe. Would I arrive on time taking the first bus to MK (7:30) and then the monorail?

-8:05am Captain's Grille. Similar to the other one: would I make it on time catching the 7:30 bus to EPCOT and then walking there?

1. Transfer at AK, not blizzard beach.

2. The first bus is at 6:30. I would be at the bus stop by 7:00

3. You cannot transfer at Epcot, you'll need to transfer at DHS. I would be at the bus stop by 6:45.

Thank you!!

Interesting, I was told buses only started running around 7:30 (one hour before park opening) so that's why I asked, it's a relief to know they run so early!

Since the Yacht Club is at the Epcot resort area, is there a reason I can't transfer to Epcot to reach it? I thought that'd be the fastest route.

1. That doesn't surprise me at all. Even disney perpetuates the "1 hour before park opening" myth. It's entirely untrue.

2. You would have to walk through Epcot, but that won't be possible because Epcot won't be open. You can walk (about 1 mile) or take the boat from DHS.

Yeah, I heard that from another forum and CMs. Glad it's not so, that makes things easier.

Ah, ok, I hadn't realized that about Epcot resorts. Thanks again!

We are driving for the first time at end of May/first of June staying at CBR. Although we will have a car, one of the things I love about staying onsite is not having to do any driving while on vacation, especially when I'm tired/cranky at the end of the night (do plenty of that at home!). We will almost always rely on Disney transportation this trip, but there is one day on our trip I'd like some advice.

We have a 7:45 am ADR at Ohana. After breakfast, we will be heading to Epcot for the day, and most likely leaving right after Illuminations. Would like to get to Epcot as early as possible, but understand that RD is extremely unlikely (no EMH, park opens at 9:00 am).

There are a few different options I have thought of, and would appreciate some thoughts on what you think would be the best plan.

Option 1 - we could drive to Poly, eat breakfast, then drive to Epcot. Probably the fastest, but that also means the most driving. The thing that concerns me most is how bad traffic is getting out of Epcot after Illuminations. Does traffic flow out of the parking lot pretty easily, or am I going to end up sitting in traffic and fighting to merge into lanes similar to leaving major sporting event or concert? Also wondering how long it will take us to drive to Epcot, park our car, and get into the park compared to hopping on the monorail at the TTC.

Option 2 - we could take the bus to MK, then take either the monorail or ferry over to Poly. After breakfast we could walk over to TTC, and take monorail to Epcot. Then at the end of the night, just take bus back to CBR. Obviously this eliminates the need to drive and would make getting back to the resort easiest at the end of the night, but I'm wondering how much earlier we will need to leave CBR to get to Poly? With a 7:45 ADR, an extra 30 minutes or so might make driving a better option?

Option 3 - we could drive to TTC, take the monorail or walking path over to Poly. Then after breakfast, we could walk back over to TTC and hop monorail to Epcot. At the end of the day, it would be monorail back to TTC, and then drive back to resort. Seems like taking monorail to TTC just to drive back to CBR at the end of the day would be a waste.

Any thoughts or suggestions? Ideas that I have not thought of?

DHS is the place to transfer, but the boats from DHS to the EC Resorts will not be running at that hour. Tell the bus driver on the bus to DHS where you are going for breakfast, and they will likely either drop you off or arrange for a bus to take you to the resort from DHS. Or you can walk from DHS, which I believe is a little over a mile.

I'd go with option 3.
