Official 'how to get from point A to point B while at WDW' thread.

With a few exceptions, buses are not dedicated to a particular route. As a bus approaches a park, it is dispatched to the next run on the dispatch list for that park. It's actually more complicated than that, but that's the nutshell version.

The target is to have buses run no more than 20 minutes apart on each route. They run more frequently around park opening, dinner time, and park closing.

Thanks!

Coming from the Poly at night, would it be easier to go to DTD and get on the Pop bus or try and get on the monorail back to MK and catch a bus from there?

Unless you want to go to DTD to do some shopping, definitely monorail (or boat) to MK.

Any suggestions on how to get from PopCentury to National rental car at 1000 Car Care Drive around 8 AM?

Need to get from AoA to Wilderness Lodge for a dinner reservation. I'm thinking bus to MK, then ferry to WL. Other suggestions? Would a cab save lots of time? Thx!

I'm going to assume you're renting at the Car Care Center. They provide a ride, from your resort to the CCC, and then back to your resort when you return the car. But, you need to call them 24 hrs prior to the time you need the car.
You could have rented from National at the Dolphin and just taken a cab over for about $10 or so.

If you bus to MK and then ferry over to WL, it will take you about an hour...possibly, when you add in wait times. A cab will take a lot less time. BUT..if you aren't in a hurry, the boat over to WL from MK is a really nice way to arrive at WL!

Does the monorail still not run for late extra magic hours? :confused3

And if not, at the GF is the only option back by boat? Or will they provide buses? I would imagine the boats to be pretty full with no monorail...

Does the Magical Express take you from the airport to Downtown Disney or does it only go to resorts? Our flight arrives at 1:20pm and the kids will be hungry (ages 5, 3 and 3 when we go). We wanted to have lunch at Downtown Disney and since we can't check into AKV until 4pm, we were thinking of having lunch first and then going to AKV.

You can only take DME to your resort.

You can actually check in as early as 6:30 am. Your room may not be ready until 4:00, though.

Thanks Alesia ~ that helps for planning purposes.

Is there a way to find out how long (on average) it takes to get from AKV to the parks? I'm planning out our ADRs and want to allow to travel time, especially on days when we are park-hopping.

As you now know, DME doesn't run to DTD, only to resorts. I would just go directly to VAK, get checked in, and grab a bite to eat there. You can check in at any time....your villa may even be ready! You could get lucky. If it isn't, just head over to AKL and grab something to eat at Mara, the food court down by the pool.

I usually plan on an hour when traveling from the AK resorts to a park...usually takes less time, but better safe than sorry.

The rule of thumb is to allow one hour between a resort and a park, and 90 minutes between two resorts (because a transfer at a park is required.)

Keep in mind that that is only a basic guideline. There are plenty of situations that will take less time than that.

If you can ask more specific questions, we can give more specific answers :)

Does anyone know if the water taxi in DTD is running? The last time I was there in early March, it was not (at least not when I checked at the Marketplace).

Hi all Looking for the best option for transportation between AoA and broadwalk area and AoA to cape may in yatch club. Are both of them in reasonable walk distance from epcot? Thinking of bus from AoA to epcot and then walk, but dont know if it will consume too much time. Any thoughts? dde01

It's running, but I don't think it's running from the dock at the marketplace due to the construction. You'd have to go to the dock at the West Side.

We are driving down and should arrive at WDW around 3-4pm. Tentatively staying at ASMo. I would like to have dinner at Chef Mickeys and ride in on the monorail since this is the kids first trip. :) is this doable?
