Official 'how to get from point A to point B while at WDW' thread.

Buses do not go from DTD to the parks (or vice versa); you would need to go through a resort.

Since you'll have a car, that's really going to be your best option.

That's what I was thinking - do they charge for parking at all of the parks?

Yes, but if you are visiting 2 parks on the same day, you only pay at the first park. Show your same-day parking receipt at the 2nd park's toll booth.

Two questions: Without a monorail, what's the easiest way to get from GF to Contemporary? The only way I can figure out is boat to MK, then boat to Contemporary?

Also, what's the easiest way from GF to Fort Wilderness Lodge? Is there a bus that goes from GF to FW? Is there a boat that goes from MK to FWL?

Also, with no monorail, what's going to be easier/quicker way to get to TTC - boat to MK and then ferry to TTC OR wait for bus to TTC?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks

GF to Contemporary - boat to MK then walk to Contemporary. There isn't a boat between MK and Contemporary.

Fort Wilderness and Wilderness Lodge are two different things. There is a boat that goes from MK to FW as well as MK to WL.

I'm curious as to why you need to get to the TTC. Also, are you aware that the monorail isn't going to be down all the time? It's only supposed to be down between 11:30 - 7:00, and I believe only on weekdays. Also, from what I've heard, it might not even be down for that entire timeframe every day, although obviously, there's no way of knowing what exact hours it will be closed each day ahead of time. However, to get to the TTC from the GF you can take the boat that goes to MK because it's on a loop that includes the Poly, so you can get off there and walk to the TTC.

When the monorail is down for maintenance, there is a bus. From GF, the stops are CR, TTC, Poly. The marquee (destination sign) should say TTC.

There will be a separate bus to MK, as well as the boat. From MK, there are boats to Wilderness Lodge & Fort Wilderness; there is also a bus to WL only. Make sure you know which of the 2 you are going to.

Thanks. I thought WL was called Fort Wilderness Lodge, so thanks for the clear up. I have no idea why I asked how to get to TTC. I was thinking about how to get on the monorail to Epcot, but obviously I can just bus to Epcot (duh!). I know the monorail won't be down the whole time but dinner reservations at various places are at times when it will be down. Thank you for the info.

No, there is no bus from GF to Epcot. You will need to take the bus to TTC and transfer to the Epcot Monorail (which is not affected by the planned maintenance.)

Advice on how to get from Epcot to DTD?
If you're in Future World, take the bus to Port Orleans French Qtr Resort, and transfer there to the DTD bus or boat. The boat usually takes longer, but it's a nice scenic ride.

If you're in World Showcase, you can exit the park thru the International Gateway between UK & France, and walk a short distance to Beach Club Resort where you can catch a DTD bus.
Animal kingdom to Hollywood studios?
There is a bus.

The buses will start running by 6:30am each day. BUT...these buses tend to run less frequently than the regular buses do. If you just miss one, you may face a wait of up to 25 mins! Be out at the bus stop as early as possible. Let's say you have an 8:00 ADR inside MK. YOu would need to be out at the bus stop, for MK, by 6:45. THat way, you should be on the second bus...by 7am. But if that isn't the case, you will have plenty of time for the next one to come along. As long as you are on a bus to MK no later than 7:20 you should be fine. Later than that and you'll start to worry about being late. When you get to the turnstiles, there will be a CM who will direct you to the appropriate entry point.

Really, since you'll have a car, that's the easiest way to get from one resort to another. I'm a little confused - are you saying that you have a breakfast reservation at Boma and a dinner reservation at Sanaa on the same day and are then going to be going to a park in between? You're not supposed to park at a resort for theme park access (although I would imagine that AKL doesn't have the same problems with it that the Contemporary and the Epcot resorts do), but even so, I think that it'll be much easier (and quicker) to drive to the park after breakfast and then drive back to AKL for your dinner reservation.

Thanks siskaren
Ok I'm from the UK so I'm just a little hesitant about using the car if I don't have to. Yes breakfast ADR at boma then to animal kingdom park for the day then Sanaa for dinner reservation. Is this mad?

No, quite reasonable, as you're spending the entire day in the AK area.

Take the bus to DAK in the morning, around 7:15. Then transfer at DAK to the bus to AKL. There are frequent buses in the a.m. from DAK to AKL, and it's just a 5-10 minute ride depending on whether the bus goes first to Kidani or Jambo. You'll be getting off at Jambo for Boma.

Of course, just take to bus to DAK after breakfast, and then back to AKL for dinner, this time getting off at Kidani for Sanaa.

Getting back to OKW in the evening is the only slightly tricky part. You need to take a bus to an open park or DTD and then transfer to OKW. If DAK is still open, that's you're easiest path. Assuming it will be closed, either Epcot or DHS are the next best, or MK if everything else is closed. You just need to check the park hours to see which will still be open after dinner (including EMH).

DTD is usually the last choice to transfer because bus service there often involves delays -- but you have a boat from DTD to OKW. So if you'd like to take the bus to DTD and walk off dinner while you browse around, that's a perfectly fine option. The boats to OKW leave from DTD West Side behind House of Blues, and the last boat is around 11 p.m.

If you'd rather drive to AKL, I believe you are permitted to leave your car there all day if you pay for valet parking, which I think is $16 or $17 plus tip. Boma is at Jambo House & Sanaa is at Kidani Village which are a half mile walk apart; I don't think the valet would be willing to go from one to the other to get your car. You can also hop on a bus between the two to get back to where your car is.

Epcot to Beach Club? I've heard about some alternate entrance for Epcot, and I think I use that. Right? About how long does it take?

BC lobby back door, thru International Gateway, to UK in WS is a 5-7 minute walk.
