Official 'how to get from point A to point B while at WDW' thread.

Do the monorails run all night? We have breakfast at Ohana at 7:30 am. We're staying at Ft Wilderness and the plan is - Ferry to Contemporary and then monorail to Polynesian. Just want to confirm this will work. If not, we'll take a taxi. Not a big deal, just planning. Thanks!

No --

The first boat to CR should be around 6:45, getting there around 7:00. The Resort Monorail starts operating at 7:00.

I think you'll have just enough time to get to your 7:30 at Poly, but don't dawdle!

What's my best way to get from the Contemporary to HS for the Hollywood & Vine Character breakfast at 8:00 am? The park won't open until 9. How much time should I allow?

Buses start at 6:30 every morning. I would be at the bus stop by 7:00.

Staying at CR, dinner at Citricos and then heading over to Epcot for EMH. Is is most convenient to take our car over to GF and then drive to Epcot or to take the monorail around and then hop it over to Epcot?

And Epcot monorail continues to run through EMH, yes?

We're thinking of going to Poly or GF and sit on the beach to watch the fireworks at MK on our arrival date. To get there I believe the best way is to go to DD and then take the bus to one of those (or take a bus to MK and then monorail to one of those). But what would be the best way to return to our resort? We're staying at POFQ. I first thought of taking the monorail back to MK and then the bus back but that'll be at the most crowded time. Does a bus go to the resorts from the TTC? If it does that'll work much better.

The best way to get to the Poly or GF is to take the bus to MK then monorail or boat. However, the GF doesn't have a beach that fireworks can be seen from. There is a deck outside of Narcoossee's, though. Check out this map from Robo (a well-known poster from the Theme Park Attractions and Strategies board):

No buses run from the TTC, so you would either have to take the monorail or boat back to the MK, then bus to POFQ, or bus to DTD then boat to POFQ.

Thanks! Yeah, I forgot that at GF you don't actually view the fireworks form the beach.

Ok, I've been a casual observer for the last few days, but now I am at a total loss! my ds(6) and I are staying at ASSp in 31 days (his 1st trip, my 1st time back in over 15 years, whoop whoop), we booked this trip 3 days ago so all the "good" ADR times were taken, but we still got them for all the biggies we wanted. I have a few questions about transportation (we will have car, but only want to use it when absolutely necessary).
1- Is there someplace to park when doing breakfast at Cape May Café then going to Epcot? I was hoping to just walk over after instead of having to go to Future World entrance.
2- Is it worth driving to Poly for Ohana at 8:25 or would the bus route be a viable option? And if so what method would be most efficient?

Hi all! We are planning our first trip to Disney in June and I am curious about transportation. We have a party of 12 and will be staying at All Star Sports. We have a reservation at Chef Mickey at 7:25 am and I am concerned if we will be able to make it for that early of a meal using Disney Transportation. What time do the buses start and is that a feasible time to schedule this meal? Any help is appreciated!!

Welcome to the DIS boards, and Transportation in particular!
1. You aren't supposed to park at a resort and then walk over to a park. It's considered 'bad form'. Parking, for park access, is something those staying at these resorts pay for! You could pay to valet park, but since you get free parking that seems silly. Depending on the time of your breakfast, you could always go to Epcot, enter through the front gates and then walk to BC for breakfast. Otherwise, it's a good idea to just drive over to Epcot after breakfast.
2. You could drive to the TTC and park there. Since you're on-site, you won't pay to park. Then either take the monorail to the Polynesian, or just walk over. It's a quick walk. If you take Disney transportation...bus to MK, then either monorail or boat to the Polynesian.

Buses start running by 6:30. But...they tend to run a bit less frequently than regular buses do. For a 7:25 at CMs, I would be sure to be out at the MK bus stop by 6:20...you want to be on that first bus. The next one may not come until 6:50ish. Cutting it close then.
When you get to MK, just walk over to CR..takes about 8 mins.

Staying at YC. Is it more efficient to hop friendship boats or walk to DHS RD? I'm thinking time wise it might be pretty close?

Depends on what you prefer. The boats start running about an hour prior to park opening. From YC, it would take about 15 mins to get to DHS...but that's once you're on the boat.
If you walk, it takes about 18 mins. I have left Epcot, on foot, at the exact same time the boat left the dock. The boat beat me to BW and was on it's way over to YC/BC as I walked by the BW docks. That's the last time I saw the boat until I was headed to bag check and the boat was just coming around the bend...probably 4 mins behind me.
So, it all depends on whether or not you enjoy walking, what the weather is, etc. I always walk from BW. Seldom take the boats unless it's raining or brutally muggy.

In the past we have always driven to AK from our resort so I've never really paid attention to transportation questions. However, this year we hope to fly so....how long do the buses tend to run after a park closes? We have made a l5:45 reservation on a night that AK closes at 6:00.

The buses run until the parks are empty; you won't be left stranded.

Thanks! We'll see how our feet do. It's our last full day there :)

Hi all!

I need to get directions for someone off site to get to Kona Cafe. Do they have to go through the MK gates? Take the resort lanes and have the ressie # on hand?

I've never traveled there from off site, so I don't know what details to provide that go beyond "take World Drive to Seven Seas Drive" type of thing.

Thanks!
