Official 'how to get from point A to point B while at WDW' thread.

Hello. We will be leaving Saturday for Disney World and will be staying at Wilderness Lodge. I am hoping to get some transportation advice from the experts :wave2: I'm looking for the best (not necessarily the fastest) way to get each of these places utilizing Disney transportation. I have listed what my initial thought was.

1) Wilderness Lodge to MK for a 8:30am appointment at BBB (MK opens at 9am)

Take boat to Contemporary, walk/monorail to MK?

2) WL to Tusker House for 8am breakfast (park opens at 8am)

7am bus to Animal Kingdom?

3) WL to Grand Floridian for 8am breakfast at 1900 Park Fare

Boat to Contemporary, monorail to GF?

4) WL to Epcot for 8am breakfast at Akershus (park opens at 9am)

Bus to Epcot? Or Boat to Contemporary, monorail to TTC, monorail to Epcot?

5) WL to Polynesian for 8:30am breakfast at Kona

boat to Contemporary, monorail to Poly?

Thank you for your help!

That's what we do when we're at WL. Haven't had an issue yet

2) WL to Tusker House for 8am breakfast (park opens at 8am)

7am bus to Animal Kingdom?
To be at Tusker House for 8am, I would actually be at the AK bus stop a bit prior to 7am. These buses run less frequently...so you want to be sure to get on an early one.

3) WL to Grand Floridian for 8am breakfast at 1900 Park Fare

Boat to Contemporary, monorail to GF?
Again, yep, that's what we do. I would plan on heading out of WL by about 7.

4) WL to Epcot for 8am breakfast at Akershus (park opens at 9am)

Bus to Epcot? Or Boat to Contemporary, monorail to TTC, monorail to Epcot?
I would go with the bus right to Epcot. Be out at 7.

5) WL to Polynesian for 8:30am breakfast at Kona

boat to Contemporary, monorail to Poly?
I would do exactly that..very pleasant way to go.

Thank you for your help!

The only variable you may find is the start time for the boats.

Hi Everyone,

We'll be staying in the Caribbean Beach Resort in June. To get to the Magic Kingdom, should we just take a bus from our resort, or take a bus to Epcot then the Monorail to MK? What about to the Beach Club Resort? Can we take a bus to Epcot then to the Beach Club, or from Hollywood Studios to Beach Club?

Thanks,

Heather

Hi everyone
We have a lunch booked at Sanaa on our Animal Kingdom day
We will be driving to AK but thought that the best option to get to Kidani Village would be to jump on the AKL bus
Is this correct?
If so does the bus stop at both Kidani and Jambo and can you hop back on a bus to Animal Kindgom from either point?
If it's actually easier to drive and you can park at Kidani let me know
We have only visited Jambo house on previous trips so I am a bit unsure of the lay out
TIA

To get to MK, just take the bus from CBR....if you take the bus to Epcot and then monorail to MK, it will take much longer. Once you get to the TTC, via the monorail, you then have to transfer to either the Express or Resort monorail or use the ferrry, over to MK.
To get to BC...bus to DHS and then either walk or boat over to BC. If you take the bus to Epcot, you will have to enter Epcot, using your park pass, walk all the way through, and then out the back door and over to BC. Much easier to just bus to DHS and then if the boat is at the dock or just coming in, taking the boat over to BC. Or, if the boat is just leaving, or nowhere in sight, just walk over. The walk is about 20 mins via the sidewalk that runs beside the canal. The boat ride is about 18 mins, once you get on the boat.

Just park at AK and then take the bus to AKL. The bus should stop at Kidani first. After you eat, you can hop back on the bus and head back to AK. The bus generally heads to Jambo House after stopping at Kidani. I forget which bus..either DHS or DTD.....stops at Jambo first, then goes to Kidani.

Have been to Disney many times. Always have rented a car. This will be first time using busses. I know you can get bus, ferry, monorail from resort to each park, I also know you can get to downtown Disney area from resort by buss. But how do you get from one resort to another. Will be staying at Boardwalk. Thanks for any advice

Well....depends on where you want to get to. You can walk to S/D, and YC/BC. If you want to get to BLT, CR, Polynesian, GF or WL, take the bus to MK. Then you can walk to the CR/BLT. You can take the boat or monorail to Polynesian or GF. And take the boat to WL or FtW.
Want to get to AKL (either Jambo or Kidani)? Bus to AK and then hop on the AKL bus
SSR, OKW or POR-FQ?? Bus to DTD, then boat to those resorts.

Any place else??? Can you tell BW is home for me????

DTD seems to be the biggest issue. how do you get there from a park & how late do busses run to get back to resorts

The simple answer?? You don't. You have to get to a resort, close to the park you're at, and then take the resort bus to DTD. CR for MK, BW for DHS/Epcot, AKL for AK.
The buses run, from DTD to the resort, fairly late. Well past midnight.

Hello everybody!

Visiting WDW in December and wanted to see some decor! I've never hopped between resorts and was wondering if anyone can help me? These are the resorts I want to get to:

Port Orleans Riverside to Wilderness Lodge(for breakfast/see decor)

then:

Contemporary
Polynesian
Grand Floridian
Beach Club
Animal Kingdom Lodge

Can anyone tell me the best way to 'hop' between these resorts and maybe an idea of how long the travel time is gonna' be? ANY info would help!! I put in some of these locations in the travel calculator they have on this site and it's giving me 90 minute travel times for alot of them. :scared1:

I know there is a DISer out there who can help! You've never let me down yet! :goodvibes
It would be VERY MUCH appreciated.

I should probably add that it will be me, DH, DD-4, DS-1, and 2 other adults in our party.

To get to WL for breakfast, take the bus to MK, then take the boat to WL.

After breakfast, take the boat to the Contemporary, then use the monorail to check out the GF and the Poly.

When you're done with the monorail resorts, get back on the monorail and take it to MK, then take the bus to BC (and actually, YC and BW are worth checking out, too.)

I'm thinking that by then you'll be ready for lunch, so I would take the bus over to DTD to have lunch there, then take the bus over to AKL. Another option would be to do AKL on your AK day. I've done a couple of December trips and I love Boma, so I kill two birds with one stone by doing Boma after AK and then checking out the decorations.

There is no way the travel time is going to be 90 minutes between any of these resorts. I would say no more than 15-20 minutes, and I think it's less than that between any 2 monorail resorts, although I admit I've never timed it. Now, that's not to say that you won't have to wait for a bus or boat or monorail, but even adding in the waiting time it won't be 90 minutes.

What is the best way to get to ASMu from AKL. We are going to be eating at Jiko at 7:35.We will eat and then maybe look around at the animals so I am thinking 9:30 to 10:00 before we leave. AK closes at 7:00 that night what is the best way to get back to ASMu

Well, your only option with using Disney transportation is to take the bus to DTD. However, I think a taxi would definitely be a better option, since the All Star Resorts are very close to AKL, whereas taking the bus to DTD would mean going past the All Star Resorts, and then taking another bus back to practically the same place you started from. Personally, I wouldn't have an objection to going to DTD if it was a much earlier ADR and I had time to shop, but at the time you're anticipating leaving, the stores aren't going to be open for very long by the time you get there.

Bus to MK, boat over to WL....total time should be less than an hour, depending on wait times. WL back to CR should be about 30 mins total, then onto the monorail. Figure about 10-15 mins between resort stops, again depending on wait times. Go to the Polynesian, then GF. Get off at MK, board the bus to BW. Time should be about 30 mins total....when you get to BW, check it out, then just walk over to the YC/BC...you may want to check out the S/D while there as well. It takes about 20 mins to make a complete loop around the lake...so add that to the actual time you spend checking out the resorts. Grab a bite to eat at this point. Then, bus over to AK and transfer to the AKL bus.

Do you have any idea how much a taxi would cost
Should be under $10....the resort is very close to AK.

If we are coming from HS to E (specifically France) is there a boat from HS to the Int. Gateway? or just a bus to the front of E? Do I need to allow one hour for travel? tia

Yep, you can take the boat. It will drop you right next to the entrance to WS..International Gateway entrance. The boat takes about 25 mins once it leaves DHS and arrives at Epcot. It will stop at the S/D, then the YC/BC, then BW and finally to International Gateway.
You can also just walk it. The walk takes about 20 mins.

Would like to keep a reservation for Aloha dinner show for 8pm but no park open late on the night we plan to go. Need to get back to AK. Any suggestions on how to do this? Help!:)

I assume you mean getting back to AKL not AK the theme park.
One option, you can take a bus to DTD and them another to AKL, it will take awhile but it will get you there. Or you can take a taxi at a cost of approx $18-$20 plus tip.
