Official 'how to get from point A to point B while at WDW' thread.

First post, so be gentle :). My wife and I will be celebrating our 6th anniversary at the Yachtsman Steakhouse over at the YC in June and I want to take her over to Jelly Rolls after dinner. I have looked and looked, but cannot find a definitive answer the best way to get there. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

If it's too hot for the walk, the boat ride is lovely. From the pier at YC, BW is the next stop.

Enjoy! (if they have the Waygu special, indulge...so good!) :worship:

Hi! Can someone please post the link to the page that shows times between each resort and each of the parks? I believe I have seen this somewhere but can't find it. TIA!

Just be sure you get on the boat to Epcot. Otherwise, you're heading to DHS and the boat has already been to BW!!!

I don't think I've ever seen that kind of info here. It's a very fluid thing....it's one thing if you're driving yourself, another thing if you're depending on WDW transportation. Let us know what you need and we can answer it for you.

Walk. It will take you less than 10 mins...walk out of the YC, back door area, turn right on the walkway. You will go up a slight hill, then a bridge. Go left, into Boardwalk....Jellyrolls will be right there, on the right.

And welcome to the DIS boards!!!

Thanks! You know that layout better than I know the layout to my house.

This is a good transportation calculator that I found. Check it out. Choose Destination from a drop down list and your current location and it tells you various different modes and travel times.

Hope this helps.

This is great when it's correct, but sometimes it gives you routes that don't even exist. Unless the possibility of waiting for a bus that isn't going to show up appeals to you, I would not recommend using it. If you are going to use it, I would strongly suggest double checking here.

I have done a lot of traveling in and around WDW and of course the best thing is experience. When I'm down in the WDW area and not going to the parks I use the WDW Transportation System to explore the different resorts. I love the Epcot Monorail Loop as it brings you into Future World without having to actually go into the park.

If you have an account on Amazon you can browse some of the book pages. It seems that they let you view different pages at different times. In any event in the Unofficial WDW Guide there is a page with the travel times between the parks and resorts in tabular form. if your lucky you can view this page.

We are spending our Honeymoon at Disney from Sat. Aug. 25 to Mon. Sept. 3 at the POFQ :cool1:. Since we booked the free dining package we will have the opportunity to eat at a lot of table-service places.

Anyway, because of reservations, it looks like most of our trip will be governed by where and when we are eating. Multiple times we will be going from one park straight to another or from our hotel to a restaurant in another resort.

One example we have planned is AK in the morning for EMH then to MK for a late lunch. Is bus the best way?

A more interesting example is the night we arrive. Our flight is supposed to land at MCO at 5 p.m. then we are taking the Magical Express to POFQ. After settling we want to go to DTD for some shopping then we have a 9:15 p.m reservation at O'hana. Is this time-table even possible, and, if so, what is the best route to take?

I'm running into trouble getting from DTD to Poly (ferry from POFQ to DTD seems best for the first leg). Is there a bus straight there or would taking a bus to MK then monorail to Poly work best? (FYI: That night is EMH for MK so they are open until midnight: we shouldn't have to worry about transportation stranding us at O'hana).

Sorry for the long-winded-ness.

AK for EMH, then over to MK for lunch....I would take a bus to the CR and then walk over to the MK. If you take the bus from AK to MK, you will go to the TTC and then have to either monorail or boat over to MK.

If your flight arrives, ontime, at 5pm, you can plan on arriving at POFQ around 6:30ish. It will take about 15 mins to get to the gate. After that, it's about 75-80 mins to the resort.
You would get to DTD about 7:30ish.....with an ADR at 'Ohana at 9:15, well, it's going to be tight. I would really recommend just hanging at your resort, relaxing, getting settled. Then, take a bus to the MK, and then monorail or boat over to the Polynesian. IF you decide to head to DTD, just take the bus directly to the Polynesian. I would plan on heading to the bus stop by 8:30 at the latest...the DTD buses seem to take the longest to get anywhere. 8:15 might be even better.

I think that is a better idea. Thanks for the input.

So here's another question. Say we want to go to DTD after MK on a normal night. MK closes at 9 so we could leave a little early to avoid the park-closing-rush. What would you advise as the best way to get to DTD from MK?

Walk to the contemporary and take the bus to DTD.

Would it be quicker to get the bus from Dhs to the Epcot main gate, or to catch the boat and walk through the world showcase?

Or maybe there's not much difference?

TIA

6 of one, half dozen of another in this case. If the bus is there for Epcot, then it would be quicker to take the bus to the front of Epcot. It would take about 20 mins to walk from DHS to the International Gateway, then another 8-10 mins to walk over to Coral Reef. If you used the boat, it would be 25 mins to the Gateway....not including wait times. If the boat is just leaving the DHS dock then it will be at least 15 mins before the next one comes.
If you take the bus to the front, you have to walk from the bus stop (and I'm just not sure how far back the DHS bus stop is), then go through bag check and the turnstiles. Then, it's about a 6 min walk to Coral Reef from the turnstiles.

Just a lot of variables.

It's our first trip to Disneyworld and I thought I had everything planned - ADRs etc done, however, just read somewhere that the transportation starts 1 hour before parks open. We are staying at Saratoga Springs - I have an 8:55am breakfast at chef mickeys - will we make it on time using wdw transport. The same goes for breakfast at Akershus in Epcot (8:30am). Any advice would be greatly appreciated to quell the panic that is setting in. I was looking to rearrange but no tables!!:confused3

Whenever we had early ADRs on our trip - which was twice - we took cabs from POFQ to Whispering Canyon Cafe and to 1900 Park Fare. It was just much easier than having to stress about getting up and out to get on the buses so early. Never cost more than 18 dollars including tip. And very very convenient!!!

Don't worry about it - bus service starts at 6:30 every single day.

For chef mickey's, I would be at the bus stop at 7:45 and take the bus to MK. It's about a 10 minute walk from there to the contemporary.

For Akershus, be at the bus stop about 7:15.

Hi there, great board! I was wondering if anyone could help me with the best way to get to a Lynx bus stop from CBR (to get to Seaworld and also Florida Mall to transfer to Gatorland). Have 3 days scheduled for Seaworld so we can be fairly leisurely with arrival time if needed.

1) Bus to DTD - bus service beginning 8.30AM. Get off at Marketplace?
2) Bus to MK, monorail to TTC. Would be able to get going sooner but would this take longer in the end? Not sure where Lynx stop is at TTC.

We also have a day at Discovery Cove but will take a taxi that morning and return on the Lynx. Do we need to book a taxi the night before or will the morning be OK?

Many thanks from an excited WDW newbie!

I have used the Lynx bus at TTC.....very easy. When you get to the TTC, from MK, just walk towards the parking lot area, when you get to the building on your left (has a gift shop in it and such), turn left. You will see the DHS and AK bus stops there. Way over to the left, along the drive, there are other bus stops. Look for the big blue paw print that shows you the Lynx stop..I think it's the number 50 bus.
I know some have used DTD but I'm just not sure how easy that is going to be to get to early in the morning...as well as where it is exactly, in relation to the WDW bus stops.

If you need a cab to get to Discovery Cove, you can just head out to the front of your resort. If there aren't any already there, one can be called for. Doesn't take long.

Don't worry about it - bus service starts at 6:30 every single day.

So the 1-hour prior to opening and after closing is more applicable for the latter? I found it hard to believe they wouldn't start running buses until 8 a.m. on a day when the MK opens at 9.

I ask because we have an ADR for 'Ohana at 9:15 p.m. on an evening when the MK closes at 9. We are staying at POFQ so we are guessing we will have to take the bus from Poly to DTD then another bus to POFQ to get home.

Buses run until every single guest is out of the park. The problem is, you won't be able to get back to MK after your dinner.

You can take the bus to DTD and then take the boat to POFQ (or a bus if the boat doesn't run that late.) It's going to take at least an hour - possibly 90 minutes. I would take a cab - It should be less than $20 and it will be so much faster.
