Official 'how to get from point A to point B while at WDW' thread.

Hi all,

Looking to know the best way to get to The Grand Floridian from Wilderness Lodge for a late breakfast at 1900 Park Fair. I had read that the AK bus stops at GF but not sure if that is seasonal or consistent. Am I better to take one of the boats to MK or Contemporary to catch the monorail?

TIA!
I would boat to the CR and hop on the resort monorail there. Very nice way to do it...and relaxing. That's what my dd and I did last summer.

Most buses from WL to AK and to DTD do stop at the GF. But you need to verify that with the driver, as there are a few that may not. Also, there's no guarantee that won't change by 6 months from now; routes are adjusted from time to time.

The suggestion of boat to CR and Monorail to GF is a good one and officially supported, but the bus would probably be faster as of now.

Are there easy ways to find a taxi from DTD back to GF? Also, is there a site I can go on to look at all the ways to get from park to park/resort to resort/resort to park/etc? We are staying at the GF but have ADR's at different resorts and parks..and the last time i was at WDW I didn't make it to DTD and I would really like to get there. So any suggestions would be really helpful!!! Thank you all so much!!!

You should be able to find cabs pretty easily at DTD. I would head over to the West End area, rather than the Marketplace.
There really aren't any trustworthy sites that give you routes between resorts. Here's a general guide...
From the GF...
to MK....monorail or boat, to Epcot, monorail to TTC and then Epcot monorail, DHS...bus, AK...bus.

To any ADRs at the Epcot resorts (YC/BC, BW, S/D) take the bus to DHS and then walk or boat to that resort. you can also do it by going to Epcot but you will have to enter Epcot and walk all the way through it to the International Gateway.

To AKL...take the bus to AK and then transfer to the AKL bus. OR....go to MK and take the AKL bus from there.

For any monorail resorts...obviously, take the monorail.

WL or FtW....monorail to CR and then the boat.

Any of the 'other' resorts, I would just go to MK and take their buses from there.

Pretty much just the reverse when heading home. If you used a park to make a transfer, and that park is now closed, you can either head to an open park, or to DTD and take your GF bus back from there.

Hope this helps a bit...if you have anything more specific, just ask.

Hmmm, not absolutely sure. I would head to a resort and take the Typhoon Lagoon bus....the AK bus stops there to the best of my knowledge.

What would be the easiest way to get from DD to Winter-Summerland?

I'm thinking take the boat to PO or I think you can walk to SSR. Then take the bus to Blizzard Beach/AK from one of those resorts.

Winter-Summerland is at Blizzard Beach.

If you're going while BB is open, you can go from DTD to any resort, and catch a BB bus. Tell the driver you are going to BB; buses from most resorts only stop at BB in the afternoon by request. Pop Century, OKW, and SSR are good places to transfer; the BB buses from those resorts are signed "Animal Kingdom & Blizzard Beach."

When BB is closed, either for refurb or after hours, there is a bus that goes from Epcot, to Coronado Springs, to BB, and back to Epcot. So you can take a bus from DTD to CS, and transfer to the Epcot bus, which will stop at BB before Epcot. Again, tell the driver where you're going.

If you're leaving W-S when BB is closed, you'll need to take the bus to Epcot, and make your way to your final destination from there. Tell the driver where you're going and ask for his/her suggestion.

The easiest and fastest would be by taxi at a cost of about $8-$10 and take approx 5 minutes. It's only about 2 miles.

By Disney Transportation, take bus to DHS and then walk or boat to Beach Club, be at the bus stop approx 1 hour before your reservation time.
If your reservation is very early the boats may not be running yet so walking may be your only option. It's approx a 1 mile walk.

The boats start up at 8 a.m., or 7:30 a.m. on EMH mornings.

If you're earlier than that & walking from DHS is not an option, you can bus to AK and then bus to BC. Allow 1:15.

Thanks guys

I'm a huge proponant of Disney transportation, and use it almost 100% of the time. But, there are some instances when I use a cab. If I am at POP, and am headed to BC for an early ADR, I use a cab. Same thing going back to POP. If I just don't want to bother with the buses/boats, I'll use the cab to get back to POP. It's less than a 5 min ride and the fare is under $10. I just can't see taking a bus to DHS and then walking to BC first thing in the morning. It will take about 45 mins to do that. A cab is a good use of $10.

Hi all,

Thinking of going to DTD from WL for a WGPE lunch one day, but I read somewhere that he buses don't start til 4pm. Is that correct? Is the only other Disney transport way to do this is get to a park to take a bus to POFQ (or POR) to get a boat to DTD Marketplace?

TIA

That was probably referring to the DTD Resorts, like BV Palace and Hilton. They are technically on Disney property, but are not Disney resorts, so shuttle service is provided by Mears. I think their DTD buses run evenings only.

From Disney resorts, DTD buses run all day starting around 8:30. Buses from DTD back to the resorts starts running regularly around 10-11 a.m.

It was at one time. But as the previous posters have said, they now start in the morning.

maybe 12 years, ago, staying at the Polynesian, I remember there was a sign out in front stating that the DTD busses started at 4pm.

I am sure Disney figured that they were losing a lot of money by not having the guests shopping during the day.;)
