Official 'how to get from point A to point B while at WDW' thread.

Okay, since I'm the first one here, I might as well just ask the question I'm sure is on everyone's mind...:rolleyes1 What is the best way to get to O'hana's for breakfast from Port Orleans Riverside? I have a 7:30 am ressie, and I'm not scared to get up early:) Carey
I would probably take the boat to downtown disney then catch a bus to the Polynesian. There's probably a quicker route but this tour will be a little more scenic optimizing your trip;)

Are you aware that you responded to a post that was made in October 2010?

This is a response to a 4 year old post, but just in case anyone else has the same question, I have to point out that this will not work: there is not a boat to DTD that early and you cannot get a bus from DTD to the Poly that early in the morning.

The only possible route is to take the bus to MK and then take the ferry or the monorail to the Poly.

With the reduced monorail schedule, what's the best way to be at MK from DPR before rope drop on an EMH day? Last time we walked to the TTC. Is the TTC monorail schedule reduced too? What about rope drop with EMH to Epcot from DPR? Are the buses to DHS and AK from DPR affected? Sorry if this has been discussed, but I couldn't exactly find it in the thread. BTW, we won't have a car, and we'll be there starting 7/29. Thanks

Sorry. I did find something that says buses will pick up at MK resorts before monorail starts operation. Does that mean they will pick up in time for rope drop on EMH days? I'm assuming I will need to allow more time than before when using the monorail, right? When we took buses from DPR to DHS and MK, we couldn't always get on the first one, because it was full. DPR seemed to always be the last deluxe resort to get picked up.

I'm not sure what the new monorail hours are or which lines are affected, so I'm not really sure how much help I can be. I can't see why the buses to AK or DHS would be affected - they should start running at 6:30 am. If buses are provide to MK and Epcot, I can't imagine that they wouldn't be running in time to get you to EMH rope drop.2

With the construction at DTD I'm wondering where the boat from POR drops you off now. Used to be at the Marketplace but I think that dock is closed now? Is the Pleasure Island dock still open or is it just the West Side? We usually only go to the Marketplace area so if the boat drops off and picks up at the West Side it might be better just to take the bus?

The PI dock & the West Side dock are both open.

  • Port Orleans boats dock at PI.
  • SSR & OKW boats dock at West Side.
  • The DTD water taxi operates between the PI & West Side docks.

We are planning a day for our late August trip where we take the kids to Blizzard Beach in the morning, and in the early afternoon (between 12-1) we go to the Animal Kingdom. I know in the morning, the buses from our hotel (Bay Lake Tower) first stop at Blizzard Beach on the way to the Animal Kingdom. Does anyone know how long this continues for? I was told by someone that the buses may switch the order later in the day (first stop at AK and then at BB). Is this what happens? If so, when? We just want to make sure there is a direct bus from BB to AK in the early afternoon. TIA!

I think the switch officially occurs around 11 a.m., meaning not all buses stop at BB on the way to AK after 11:30 or so -- BUT, some buses to AK continue to stop at BB throughout most of the day. Whenever there are Guests leaving a resort who want to go to BB, most drivers still drop them off before going to AK.

There's no designated load zone at BB for AK. Buses will drop off Guests at any available load zone, so you just have to watch for a bus that has "AK & BB" on the marquee and get the driver's attention as you walk swiftly towards the bus. You can also look for a Transportation cm, generally wearing an orange safety vest and carrying a clipboard, to help you get a bus.

Greetings...
We have dinner reservations at Boma in Animal Kingdom Lodge, so I'm assumi ng that we will need to go to MK and pickup a bus to the lodge. Is that more effective time wise than taking a bus from WL to Animal Kingdom and then a bus from AK to AKL?:confused3 Either way, how much time should we allow?

Any advice from the experts is welcome! TIA!

Depends on when the ADR is. If AKL is still open, you can take the bus to AKL and then transfer to the AK bus...getting off at Jambo House (second AKL stop). Or take the boat from WL to MK, then bus to AKL. I always leave at least an hour for travel time. In this case I would leave close to 90 mins since there is a transfer involved. Besides...it's so nice to have time to wander around AKL when you first get there!

I just scored a breakfast reservation for Cape May at 7:40. We are staying at Pop.
Taxi is the way to go here no? Or is there an easy way I don't know about?

Another thing I have been wondering about. I think I read this in a TR-
To get to the boardwalk from Epcot, you need to exit through the world showcase and thus need a ticket to Epcot to do this. There is no taking a bus to Epcot and then walking without a ticket. Correct?

We don't have park hoppers so I just want to be sure!

Yes, to get to the Boardwalk from the front gate of Epcot you do have to walk through the park, which would require a ticket.

You could take a bus to DHS and then walk from there. it's about a mile.

I would just spring for a cab.

I figured. Just wanted confirmation! Thank you!
It's DH's birthday. We can spring for a cab. :)

It should be around $10...and it's a huge time saver. It would take you at least an hour to get to BC from Pop, using Disney transportation. It will take about 8 mins in a cab!
