Official 'how to get from point A to point B while at WDW' thread.

OK...

We have a day at TL... And a dinner reservation at GF for 5:45. We would like to stop at our resort to change before dinner. But I was just told, due to DTD construction, all busses leaving TL after 2pm have a transfer at Epcot.

Can someone tell me what this involves and approximately how much time to allow for this?

This is what I was thinking for a time line, before I heard of the extra Epcot transfer... Might be better off getting a Taxi from TL to FQ?

Leave TL by 2:30.

Allow 1 hour for travel time...

Arrive at FQ by 3:30.

Be at FQ bus stop by 4:45 (that gives us an hour + to change for dinner)

Allow an hour travel time from FQ to GF.

Does this sound about right?

Or does anyone think there is an easier way?

D~

Here I go..

We have a dinner reservation at 8:30 PM at Cape May Cafe..our resort is Caribbean Beach, i know the easiest way to go would be a bus from EPCOT but we dont want to spend a ticket to enter through the IG ( its our first day WDW and we wont do any park). Is there any way to get Epcot main entrance from the beach club without entering Epcot?

Thanks

We are ap holders, so this isn't trying to get out of paying to park. :)

We are doing Epcot during the day but my DH really wants to head over to Dtd for a break in the afternoon. We want to end up back at Epcot to watch illuminations.

We stay offsite and drive and so I'm thinking the easiest is just to drive over and drive back, but with the construction at Dtd I was hoping there might be disney transportation that would make it easier. I've never used the boats but I don't think they go all the way from Dtd to Epcot do they?

Thanks!

No, but you can take the bus to DHS and walk or take the boat to the beach club.

If DHS is closed by the time you're done with dinner, you'll need to either transfer at DTD or take a cab. The cab will be much, much quicker.

You can't take a boat because they are on completely different bodies of water.

You can walk out of the international gateway to the beach club and take a bus from there.

I guessed so...yup, DHS will be closed.

Thanks

We have 2 early morning breakfasts on our MK days. Our trip is currently up in the air due to the pool construction at WL. But assuming we go, we'll be at either the Contemp or the GF.

For a 7:30 'Ohana I know that I could walk from the GF. But would I take a taxi or a Disney bus from the Contemp? If it's the latter, I assume that it's a direct ride, but what time would we need to catch the bus? Would the boat then be running from the Poly to MK?

For an 8:10 CRT, will the boats be running that early from GF? I know that it stops at the Poly first, so what time would we need to catch it?

Thanks so much.

We will be hopping from AK to Epcot during our trip the first week of October. How long does it take once we are on the bus? How after do the buses run from AK to Epcot? Thanks for any info!

I just read something in a dining report that I thought I would mention here:
It seems that when taking a bus to DTD from WL, the first stop is a pick up at GF.
For those of you staying at WL with ADR's at GF you might want to consider this route. No transfers involved.

The boats normally start running 30 minutes before MK opens. I don't know whether they are starting earlier during the monorail schedule adjustment.

From CR to Poly: almost every bus leaving CR stops at Poly before going to its destination, unless it fills up at CR. Definitely buses to DHS, AK, and DTD stop at Poly. Starting at 7 a.m. until the monorails open, there are special buses running from CR to Epcot and to TTC. The TTC buses will continue to Poly after stopping at TTC; I don't know whether the Epcot buses stop at Poly, but I would think it likely. If there are buses running to MK, they may not be stopping at Poly. In short, just ask the bus driver of any bus at CR whether it will be stopping at Poly; odds are that it will.

The ride from CR to Poly is only about 5 minutes non-stop. The TTC bus may lay over at TTC for 5-10 minutes, so if you're pressed for time look for a park or DTD bus. If you have very bad luck, you might have to wait 20 minutes for a bus.

From GF to MK, again the boats would not normally be running that early, but they may or not be during the monorail late opening. There will be buses running from GF to MK starting at 7 a.m. until the monorail opens. The ride is about 10 minutes; I think the buses are running every 20 minutes.

Drive time is usually under 15 minutes.

Buses run about every 20 minutes. But if you're travelling in the afternoon, you may encounter a full bus and have to wait for the next one.

I have a son with special needs, and it was highly recommended that we stay at a resort on the monorail for quick travel to and from the MK. Then, I read about current monorail issues and limited hours. :scared: We were planning to stay at the Grand Floridian, but now I'm worried it might not be worth the extra money if we can't utilize the monorail much. We hope to spend first afternoon at Epcot, one day at HS, and then two days at the MK.

For a trip in mid or late september, will we likely be able to use the monorail to arrive at the MK at 9 am? If it is not operating early, what are our best options and travel times?

What is the best way to get to Epcot from the GF (first afternoon after check in) and how long should we allow?

What is the best way from GF to Hollywood Studios for 9 am opening on a Thursday and how long is the trip each way likely to take in real life?

Thank you so much! :cheer2:

There's a possibility the monorail work could be done by the time you travel. The Mouse said "at least thru the end of summer."

But if the hours are still reduced, the Resort Monorail is opening at 8:30 a.m., unless there's a problem. That would still get you to MK by 9 a.m. (GF to MK is only a 5 minute ride.) Other alternatives are the boat (but wheelchairs or ECV's are not accommodated), or a bus which will be running only if the monorail is not.

GF to Epcot is by Resort Monorail to TTC, then transfer to Epcot Monorail. Total travel time, including waits for both trains, could be up to an hour station to station, but should average about 40 minutes.

Buses run from GF to DHS about every 20 minutes. GF to DHS is non-stop, and is only about 15 minutes. DHS to GF stops at 2 other resorts before GF, so travel time is about 25-35 minutes (depending on wheelchair loading, waiting for other buses to clear the stops, etc.)

Have you made your reservations yet? With your Schedule, I would actually recommend staying at one of the Epcot area resorts so you would be able to walk or take the boat to DHS and Epcot. The Swan and the Dolphin are much cheaper than the MK area resorts.

Ohana ADR at 8:35 a.m. from All Star Sports.
How early do the buses run? Or is it worth it to just take a taxi?

I would like to know the easiest way to get from POR to Trail's End for a 7pm dinner? Thanks. :) ( There are 5 of us)

How do I get from the TTC to Bonnet Creek? I know it's right next to Caribbean Beach Resort but since I don't have GPS, can someone tell me what signs I should follow when I leave the TTC?

The buses start at 6:30 every day.

Bus to MK, then boat to FtW. The boat dock is a short walk to Pioneer Hall, where Trail's End is located.

Follow signs to DTD. That will take you onto Epcot Center Dr. When you exit off Epcot Center Drive, go straight thru the 2 traffic lights (don't turn left towards DTD.) You will then be on the entrance road to Bonnet Creek.
