I went to horror nights last Thursday and Friday. This was my first visit ever to the event and I had really high expectations. Overall, I was quite disappointed in the event.
The lines for the event were not as bad as I thought they would be. I never saw one over 90 minutes. We had express passes, so we walked directly into every single house with absolutely no wait both nights. That was great. We were glad we had them. Thursday night seemed more crowded than Friday.
Both nights, I did not find the houses or the scareactors to be very scary. I am not someone that is difficult to scare I have gone to local Halloween events and have always been startled. I got startled VERY few times over the two nights. We visited each house 2-3 times and all the scarezones.
I also was a bit disappointed in the effects inside the house. I really didn't see anything I haven't seen before at local events. The houses just seemed like regular haunted houses. The benefit was that there were 8 in one place.
Havoc was a good house. The guy in the porthole was great. There was another guy doing something on the floor that was startling as well.
In catacombs I had three scareactors surround me away from my group and that was pretty startling. I didn't care for the look of the house though. To me it just looked like ripped garbage bags. I understand the quarantine and illness aspect, but I think it could have been done better.
Legendary truth was okay, but I didn't really get scared at all in that house. The chair was okay, but I saw it coming so it kind of ruined it for me. It also seemed like there were a lot of mechanical scares that weren't realistic instead of scareactors.
Orphanage was actually pretty good in my opinion. It actually looked like a house and the evil pigs got us a couple of times.
Psycoscareapy was pretty good. There were some creepy guys who were blowing in my hair and laughing in an evil way. The button was funny because everyone in line around me was begging me not to push it.
We didn't get any scares in Zombiegeddon. I think this was my least favorite house.
The horror nights house was great to look at. The scareactors were trying very hard in there and did startle us a couple of times. This was one of my favorites.
Hades was not very scary for us. The entrance was cool, but most of the scareactors were standing around when we walked through. We did this one three times and no one tried to scare us or anyone around us.
The scarezones were okay but nothing great. We really didn't get scared at all in any of them. The guys in saws and steam were trying hard, and there was one scareactor in the mardi gras area who was really into it. He definitely startled us a few times by sneaking up to us very closely. Overall, the scarezones seemed like a place to pose for pictures.
We saw the menace Brian Bushwood show and it was pretty funny. He probably does this every time, but when the Mr. Happypants or whatever came out his evil voice button wasn't working so he was having a hard time keeping a straight face and continuing with the act. It was pretty funny. We liked it.
We absolutely hated the Bill and Ted show. Everyone in my group was in their 20's and 30's and we thought the show was incredibly immature. Like something a young teenager would enjoy. I didn't find any of it funny or entertaining. We left early we couldn't even stand to watch the entire thing.
Overall, I was expecting the event to be unlike any halloween event I have been to before. We traveled across the country specifically for this event. I felt like the houses were the same as some I have seen at Six Flags and local haunted corn mazes and haunted houses. Nothing stood out to me.
