Official HHN XX Reviews [MINOR SPOILERS]

UCF night - sounds bad - lol is it just that one night? We;'re gonna be there thursday thru monday and had planned on one of the days being sunday should we go saturday instead? Already doing the VIP Thursday. Thanks!

I would definitely avoid Sunday night. I am a UCF student and they were advertising this UCF HHN night all over campus and in my email every day for a week. There are about 57,000 students that go to UCF, and while they definitely did not sell THAT many tickets, you can bet that they sold a ton. And every student/faculty member was allowed to purchase up to 6 tickets, and they were all at a discounted price. :scared1:

It's just the one night but you're coming during Hell Week so every night is going to be very busy. Thursday night you won't feel it too much if you're doing the RIP Tour but Friday and Saturday will be absolute wall to wall. I doubt Express will help much on those nights. Just trying to prepare you. ;)

I remember being smart enough to research hell week the other years we went. Forgot to this time! Oh well, still better than being HOME! Booked the RIP for Friday, thats all I really care about anyway. We'll go thursday not expecting to see much and then totally enjoy friday.

Exactly! I'll be there during Hell Week and UCF night even tho' there will be ungodly crowds and even tho' I've already been there nearly every possible FF+ night. During October, on the nights when HHN is closed, my feet get itchy right around 4 p.m. when we would be leaving. If you've ever seen the old "Lassie Come Home" movie, I feel like the dog when she's getting ready to meet the kid at school, LOL.

Anybody else get the survey from Universal asking about this years event? It was kind of long but I loved it because it asked about each house individually.

Could you post a link to the survey?

Nevermind I found it.

Hi all-

I have horrible clausterphobia in small, dark places...crawling thru tunnels in Huanted Houses is usually too much for me. Do any of the HHN XX houses have tunnels to crawl thru or really tight walkways?

Thanks!!

They are all wide enough to accommodate wheelchairs.

You have to walk through all the houses...you don't have to crawl. Some of the pathways can get a little tight only because of the barriers that are hanging from the ceiling to block your view at different parts of the house. You will walk right through them though so it shouldn't be a big deal.

OK, I went this past Thursday and Friday(October 7th and 8th) and just wanted to share my opinions:

Overall, I thought it was a good year....I always enjoy myself. But I still think it could have been even better for the 20th Anniversary. We went Thursday and Friday purchasing Stay and Scream and Express Passes for both nights. Now this is my fifth year so we have it down to a science but Thursday really threw me for a loop. The crowds were insane! We only got through four houses without using our Express Pass. At one point, we went back to do The Orfanage and was told the Express wait was 40 minutes! The regular line was only listed at 75! Friday, believe it or not, was completely different. We did all 8 houses before using our Express for the second round. The longest wait with Express was about 10 minutes. Very strange. We did an Unmasking the Horror Tour on Friday and I asked out tour guide about the crowds from Thursday(he was there as well) and he said the Frequent Fear Pass with Express really knocked things out of whack this year. They sold way more than they anticipated. Anyway.....on with the rankings from favorite to least favorite(I can't say there were any I didn't like at all):

OK so it wasn't just me on Thursday night that thought the lines were out of control big. I was really sick which didn't help but I had already spent the money to stay at the park which I thought was unusal (at least for me). We live in VA where the Kings Dominon park does not have you pay extra to stay and scream. For us we are use to the park being really dark where we live because it is in the woods and also the lines are less the normal wait is only 30-40 minutes this is because the park is spreadout and has about 9-10 houses each year.

We were sadly disappointed in the scare zones, although the one down the alley was pretty good.

We didn't do any of the houses since we waited for one for 45 mins and we weren't even close to the end of the line so we left. I was pretty bummed and kind of wish I went to the Mickey party instead or the pool.

I'm confused with your comment about S & S. You don't have to pay extra for S & S...if you are in the park before closing and have your HHN ticket, you can do S & S for free. You would have easily gone through four houses before the lines grew long. On my three visits so far this year, I didn't have to use Express until later in the evening. You must not have been in the park prior to close or you left the park and had to wait outside the main gates. S & S makes HHN more enjoyable because you are already in the park and don't have to wait for the mob to enter through the main gates.

i have been doing HHN for the last 12 years.

i know the plan in advance and use the S & S area (mainly for meeting up with homies in advance)

thursday, october 7th was a new experience for me.

crowds.crowds.crowds.crowds.......and more crowds for the express line.

it seemed like a peak night at times.

the line for orfanage in the express line was almost a 30 minute wait.
and i went during the middle of the bill and ted show. (to avoid that rush of a crowd to the closest house when that show got out.)

generally i can do 4 or 5 houses before using my epp.
it didn't work that way on the 7th.

when i inquired about the long express lines, i was told that many purchased the ffp with epp.
that made sense for the long lines.....

thursdays in the past have been the best night to attend to avoid those long lines.

Thursday was crowded because the Ghost Hunters were there (which also resulting in houses getting shut down while they toured). I couldn't believe that Finnegan's reached capacity before park closing. Crazy...

Hopefully it won't be as bad tonight but we're going earlier just in case.

Hooray for the Catacombs love!!!

I may or may not be a scareactor in this house and I may or may not have shared your article with other scareactors in this house!

*COUGH COUGH*

Well Berlioz...here is some more Catacombs love. :) We were really impressed with the Scareactors working in the house when we went through tonight. They all really seemed on their game and elicited lots of screams just from my group of friends. I really enjoy the way historical fact has been worked into the house's storyline, making it that much scarier. And with the scareactors doing such a great job, it made for some fun scares.

Click here for my latest house reviews, based on our experiences up to and including last night.

Yes, Catacombs still totally rocks my world, especially a certain Team A (we've even been know to stand outside and wait till shift change if we move through the line too quickly).

Just a couple random observations from Friday/Sunday...

Sunday crowd was insane--at one point Orfanage was out 2 hours. Lines didn't really go down that much even after midnight. Give Universal credit, they know how to market.

I finally noticed the monkey wallpaper in Legendary Truth...only to find the monkey himself is gone! Hate it when people vandalize houses like that--wish Universal would learn and put stuff out of reach.

No pilgrims--and possibly fewer witches--in the Coven Thursday/Sunday, although they were out Friday. May have been fewer skeletons in the Spanish-themed zone, as well--i don't recall noticing the giant puppets out last night.

Woot!! I wonder if I scared you?! I have a pretty unique scare that's easy to remember, that is, if I got you ;)

YAY again (I'm cast A). I love my cast, we get along great backstage so I bet that helps. We still haven't won house of the week yet, but someone did pass out in our house last weekend so that might help! :rolleyes1

I won Performer of the Week our opening weekend, I proudly display my trophy on my desk at my daytime job (@ Disney) LOL!

I don't remember ever seeing any pilgrims.

Metro, there used to be pilgrims burning in pits (a "turnabout is fair play" kind of thing). I have a couple pics but they came out really blurry.

Berlioz, my little stuffed doggies are never going to recover from the manhandling they got in Catacombs, and my husband is still reeling from the triple teaming.
