I caught up this morning, as I was out yesterday evening. Marie definitely deserved to go. I agree with you, @Dimplenose - sometimes the very steady competent bakers don't have the flair or the wow factor enough for GBBO. Although she did get Star Baker last week- it's a big leap from one to the other!

How many times has the star baker from the previous week done really poorly?!

I think Marie deserved to go. She was consistently poor while some of the others were up and down. I have to admit, I was cringing when she had the oven settings wrong

Paul looks good, except he has little to no sense of humor. I think it was Sue who was trying to make a joke with him and he just was just so stone faced.

I had no idea if we was being serious or ironic funny...

I have to agree with you on this one @BagOLaughs

At the moment, I am loving Mat (that fire engine box) and Ian - I think Ian is coming across as a little reserved or something (not sure what word I am looking for) but he might still pull some amazing techniques out of his sleeve as the weeks go on!

I try to go for a look, don't touch philosophy when bake off is on... I did say try...

Ops! I'm not very good guess at good bakers am I! My new favorite is now Nadiya.

Did you see Alvin's face when Sandy was announced as leaving? That's another week he's been saved by someone having a worse week than him. I think he'll go soon.

I'm usually a day or two behind when watching the show. Silly thought: are those cakes/biscuits/breads/everything as good as they look? I surely hope so! Still not too sure about who to root for!

I was hoping for some low calorie treats this week as they were making sugar free cakes - I'm not sure I'd class honey as sugar free .

I was sorry to see Ugne go, if she'd been less ambitious I think she could have got through. However it was the correct choice on the day.

I'm really enjoying Nadiya's humour

I don't know about you bit i was a bit disappointed that they chose Ugne to go. At least she fulfilled the brief with her arctic roll and Paul said the ice cream was amazing.

Mat on the other hand didn't even make an arctic roll and Paul and Mary said that there wasn't any ice cream left in his bake... so why did Ugne go and not Mat?

I'm looking forward to next weeks pastry round... tarts and pies yum!
