Official Glass Slipper Challenge Thread

It's so hard to say :confused3 Normally WDW races don't sell out as fast as DL races, so you have that going for you here. BUT, any of them sell faster when it's an anniversary year or, as in this case, there's anything inagural...which will be the 10k and the challenge combo. DDD went CRAZY fast, but there were pre-registration issues with that one that have supposedly been addressed for PHM/GSC. Do you have anyone available that you can give all your regitration info to that would help you out and register for you? PHM didn't sell out last year (an anniversary year) on day 1, but with the GSC this year and the new pink C2C possibility, there's no telling how fast it will go...and I've read that supposedly the corwding issues are being worked on by decreasing the # of spots available...who knows if that's true, but that could be something else working against you. And there will be a pre-sale for DVC this week, so on the official registration day, some spots will already be gone. It's a "limited number" of spots, so no one knows how many, but just something else to think about. Rumors of a DIsney Visa pre-registration are still out there too, but that hasn't been announced or confirmed. I know, so many unknowns...just get to a computer as fast as you can!!!

Thank you! Think I might try to sneak in the iPad ;)

Wondering if anyone can tell me if it makes sense to get the $2 active.com trial membership if there would be any Princess race discounts for being a member?

Nope- RD races dont qualify

I don't think so. I am a full member, and all the fees for local races are waived, but Disney races the fees are not waived, or they have not been in the past. ( 2013 and 2014 marathon).
I use it a lot for local races so it makes sense for that if that is your intention.. :)

I keep hearing that DVC members will get early registration however I still only see marathon weekend and wine and dine.. Are they going to put it on the website? Are we going to have to call?? Maybe I am looking in the wrong place..
Anyone else know???

I sent an email a couple days ago but have heard nothing in return. If you have an AP they at least mention the princess and that you'll be able to register early.

DITTO!! I just want a straight answer, yes or no, I'm finally to the point, I don't care if the answer is no, I just want to know for sure it is a no!! :sad2:

I don't have a current AP only a voucher..
For marathon weekend it was on the DVC site weeks before.. I saw a couple of places that DVC has been confirmed with runDisney but I see no evidence.

You should be able to register your voucher and access the link (when it is posted).

Hi everyone! I'm relatively new here and wanted to pop in and say hi! I'm not sure yet whether I'll be running the GSC yet but I've planted the seed with my fiancé and I'm hoping so hard that we can swing it!

We've got our first half marathon coming up in October (and actually maybe one in September), but I've wanted to run the Princess half ever since I went to Disney unknowingly during the Princess half weekend in 2011 and saw all the ladies walking around with their beautiful medals!

PrincessGate registrants WILL now be able to keep their spots. This makes me sad that folks who cheated have been rewarded for their bad behavior. I am very disappointed with the RunD decision.

I agree. So disappointing. :(

Honestly - I have SEEN one of the emails telling the "cheaters" that they would be allowed to participate. THERE WAS NO WHERE WHERE THEY WERE TOLD NOT TO SAY ANYTHING - they had a meeting at RD and they decided that there were SO few people who it affected it wouldn't make a difference. The person who I know that used the link GOOGLED IT and came up with the link and used it - they have a LIFE and didn't realize that they were breaking some unwritten Disney law by using a link that was ACTIVE and registering - it is ridiculous that you are all spending SO much time worrying about it - geez - don't you guys have anything else to worry about???

Look, I'm sorry that you choose to shout in your post. The RunDisney website clearly states that registration opens on 6/11/13. AP holders received newsletter indicating 6/6/13 early registration. I'm not DVC, so I can't speak to their early registration. It's not a question of your known person not having a life, I just can't understand how they didn't realize what the correct dates were. No, it's not ridiculous that this subject is a sore spot for many. I just hope all who want a spot, get a spot, fair and square , that's all. We are all here because we choose to run at Disney and enjoy all the experiences that go with it. We are not here to make enemies with others.

I actually have to agree on part of this. To me, the blame should be solely on active.com. If I went to the link and saw that I was able to register, honestly, I think I would try and register. If there was a huge banner across the top of the link that said DO NOT REGISTER UNTIL JUNE 11th and THEN I tried to still register, then that is a little slimy. If this happened to me, I would just assume they opened it up early.

I'm a big believer in "if it's meant to be then it's meant to be". If I am supposed to be running in the challenge, then I will get a spot. Simple as that. I know we all have a passion for Disney and for running so let's save our energy for that! Good luck to everyone getting in!! Michele

My only issue with it was rD lying about it. If they wanted to honor the active mistake- that's fine. It's their race, their rules, all good.

But they sent out emails Monday morning to many people saying they were NOT honoring it, and then went back and told the folks that called about their entries it would be ok.

I was told by an early entrant that they were told 1) not to do it again and 2) keep it quiet, they didn't want it publicized. This was a planned response- tell the public one thing, but do another. I hate that.

For me, the disappointment is that they didn't just own up to the decision to honor the registrations in the first place. Totally acceptable to say "There was a mistake made, we feel it best business practice to honor those registrations, thank you for understanding. blah blah blah"
