***Official February 2017 Thread***

February weather can be a true mixed bag. Pack for everything. Our last ten day trip was Feb 2015 and it only rained one day but temps varied greatly.

Thanks for the info! You're a fine thread keeper. Not much to do right now other than wait, anyway!

I also just noticed that we are arrive on the first day of the Princess Half Marathon Weekend. As I said, never been there during that period, has anyone found that it has a substantial impact on crowds? From what I understand roughly 25,000 people compete. Do the majority of those people only stay for the weekend of the competition and then depart?

Not too fussed either way, as I'm used to July crowds during previous trips!

Yay! Planning is so fun. Where or how do you start? For me, it's always picking up the most current Disney Passporter book. I love those.
I'm a bit of a weirdo....first thing I'll do once it's all booked is buy t-shirts for my boys and start planning how we'll surprise them this time!
1st time was a scavenger hunt that ended with them finding their suitcases, Mickey toys & t-shirts, 2nd time we woke them at 4am by playing the Jungle Book Groove as we had an early flight.
We can't tell them before the day we leave as they wont sleep!! It's pretty tricky because most flights from up here are early morning!!

Horray, a February thread! We're aiming for around the last week and talking about staying at Pop Century. Fingers crossed I can actually get a PTR off the ground this time. Now to wait for Tuesday when I can calculate what our trip will cost while checking out new Norway videos and eating happy-birthday-to-me cake!

I'm pretty sure we're most excited to share Disney with a pair of first-timers, who are just starting to get excited about actually going to the World. Apparently it takes a bit for the reality of such a thing actually happening to take root. We love going in February! Parents' birthdays (both of them), good weather, and we come back home to only a few more weeks of snow. (Okay, I'm the only one not super enthusiastic about that; I actually like snow.) Happy to jump on board!

...on the PTR front, which jumps out more: "Exnay on the Wishing for More Tripses", "Eat a Snickers", or "Did we tell you she's engaged to a chipmunk?" ?

That's why we love February too!! Last time we went we left -26c and landed in +20....we try to ignore the fact that we have to return to the big freeze!

Hi all.
We are booked in AKL 24th Jan - 7th Feb 2017.
We have a standard view room, so not sure if to request the best possible view via touring plans.com, or to wait until we check in and hope for an upgrade to a savannah view. Does anyone have any thoughts/tips for this?
Thanks.

So excited to book tomorrow!!! Aiming for four Preferred rooms at All-Star Movies w/ Dining!!! There's 7 of us total, which is the biggest group I've ever planned for. (I'm usually a solo traveler, occasionally with 1-2 other people.) I'll be happy to get everything locked in! And then this Fall when the military rates for 2017 are loaded in, I'll be calling back to have that discount applied to our packages. I can't wait!!!

Yay! So glad I found this. We are planning our daughters' first trip to the World. Feb 25-March 4!! This will be their first trip. We will be, more than likely, staying at POP. Our youngest will be celebrating her 6th birthday while we are there. This trip is a surprise for them......and it's killing me!!!:scared: But I am ready to go! We will have myself, DH, DD 7 and 6, and both of my parents!

How are you planning on surprise them?? I'm looking for new ideas!

I'm not sure quite yet. I know we probably won't tell them until the day we leave. We always leave around midnight and drive through the night. So we will tell them that day. I'd like to tell them early, but then I will have 248 days of "are we going today?" :rotfl2: I'm open to ideas though.

Which is why it's good you found this place to release all of your Spoiling the Surprise energy onto! Consider us your Disney Fanatical family way from true family :earboy2:

It's awesome that we are all on here and can talk about all of this. My DH could care less about Disney  but he loves me, so he deals with it. :thumbsup2 I'm sure I will post all about it lol.

We are going Feb. 10-17th. Im excited to be there for valentines day! We haven't decided where to stay, looking tonight so we can book in the morning! Has anyone stayed at POR or POFC?

We've stayed at POR twice now and it's the only place our boys want to stay now - I even suggests a split stay with the contemporary and got a big NOPE!!

We like the theme, it's not too 'Disney' so we can escape the craziness while staying in the bubble! I love the boat to downtown, it's a lovely relaxing end to our day after dinner

We've done that boat ride and loved it! We've done the pop and coronado so far, wanted a new place to stay. Maybe one day we will try them all!

Good! I love hearing and sharing plan ideas. My family is used to my ramblings by now and are just as Disney obsessed.... once we get closer to going.

POR is my dream resort to stay at. Keep your monorail and Boardwalk resorts. Riverside just looks so relaxing. Not that I ever relax on vacation. Organizers don't get to relax. For us, Disney "home" is a Cars Suite. I love feeling like I'm vacationing in Radiator Springs and saying "good morning" to Doc Hudson each day.

Nice!! We are also staying at POP FEb 25-March 6th. That will be a fantastic surprise. Happy Planning!

Booked AoA Feb.12-25, 2017!! This is 3rd trip & 3rd Feb. trip, we love valentines day at Disney!

We previously traveled in 2010 & 2012 (we did Disneyland at Easter 2014) so that was before Magic Bands, the New Fastpass system, the Fantasy Land Expansion and before AoA had opened. We are so excited to see all these!
