*~* Official February 2013 Thread *~*

I am actually really looking forward to it. When we take the kids we always end up saying stuff like "that would be nice to do when it's just us". I love our family vacations to Disney but really excited for a new experience. We will probably do the dining plan this time so we can eat at restaurants we normally would not take the kids. I hate to admit it but I have "those" kids....the ones who always seem to act up at restaurants. And as new DVC members this will be our first time staying in a resort other values or the campground.

Oh then we should definitely eat dinner together :lmao: My youngest is almost 3, and acts it ;) My 4 almost 5 year old and 13 year old are fine, but my 9 year old is a little hyper too. I look at some of the disney food pics and see the restaurants I want to try but know I would not have the relaxing experience I want with the kids (fun, yes!! love going with them and have a great time, but not taking them to any signature restaurants)

We are looking to do two connecting values (which we have never needed two before so that would be new) or the campground (which we have never done.. having a hard time figuring out if it makes sense for us since the grounds are soo big)

Congrats on becoming DVC!

We are not an all day park kinda family so the campground is actually our favorite place to stay. We hit the parks for rope drop and then head back to the campground around lunch. The kids love the playgrounds, riding their bikes, or riding the golf cart.

I just sent in my deposit for POR, Feb 8 - 14. We're escaping home for Mardi Gras and using the kids school Mardi Gras break (plus two partial days that I'll pull them out).

Did you book room only?

I've been trying to book our MYW package but the system keep telling that booking can only be done till December 31st of this year.

Hello everyone! I am thinking of booking a February 2013 trip to DW after hearing a friend say how the weather was great and there were no crowds! I have never been in February. We usually go in Dec., Sept. or Oct. I am actually pregnant and due in August so I will have a 6 yr. old, 5 yr. old and 6 month old. Anyone ever gone with an infant before? The boys keep asking every day when can we go back. Not sure where to stay. The last 2 trips we stayed at POP. When in February is the best time to go? Beginning or end?

Early Feb, before Presidents Day, is the best time to go in Feb crowd wise.

When we went in 2009 my youngest was 6 months. It really wasn't too hard for us since she loved breastfeeding and I had a cover so when we would get on a ride that allowed for it (IaSW and HM come to mind) I would just let her nurse.. That way we weren't bothering anyone else, she was quiet and never really fussy. She also preferred being in the carrier to the stroller. I was also surprised how many rides I could go on with her. It was a very fun trip :lovestruc

I am planning our first Disney trip for the first week in Feb, tenative dates are sometime between 1/30 and 2/9, how long depends on free dining. DD will be almost 5 and we can't wait! I have read some posts about it being cold that time of yr, but we are coming from the northeast, so it will be like early summer for us!:cool2:

Yes, I booked room only. I went through an agent and booked room only. As soon as the rates for the packages come out this summer, we'll convert to/add the entire package. In the meantime, I have my room booked in the resort I want, and I can start paying towards my package.

I find the best time to go to WDW is the beginning of February, before President's Day. Crowds are low, the weather is fabumous and even the refurbs are tolerable.

I don't have kids but all my friends who had them always talk about how nice is to travel with a six to eight month old. They are interested in what happens around them but also sleep a lot!

We'll be going over Mardi Gras in 2013 and I bet refurbs will be at a minimum. It seems like Disney is getting these out of the way this year, I think, in order to have everything bright shiney and new when the biggest part of the Fantansyland expansion opens up later this year. I think they won't want to have scrims up on Main Street and rides down for the larger crowds they expect to come at that time.

I think I've read so many posts and books that my mind is overloaded..I don't even know where to start..how did u make it to your first trip without losing your mind?

I didn't know anything on our first trip in 06 and still had a great time. Have fun planning and learn all you can, but just remember to have fun and RELAX. We missed so many of the "must do's" on our first trip but still had an amazing time :goodvibes

Does anyone have a Touring Plans account? I had one but it expired! I was just wondering what the crowd levels look like the end of Jan./ beginning Feb. Also, does anyone know when the Princess Marathon will be held in 2013? Not sure if it was already posted on here or not.

I always use easywdw touring plans. They seem consistent and everyone I know who used them in the past always says good things.

Also, The Undercover Tourist now has a day-to-day crowd calendar. It's not as through as the easywdw one, but it's still a very good source of information.

No idea on when the Princess Marathon will be for 2013.

Just a little edit: here's the link to UT crowd calendar http://www.undercovertourist.com/planning/when-to-visit.html

Thank you for the response! I am wondering when would be a better time to go, beginning of February or end of February as far as crowd levels, weather and special offers. I would love the Free Dining as I think that saves us the most becuase we usually stay in value anyway!

Well I just looked at easywdwtouringplans and it seems like the end of Jan/ beginning of Feb is the better time to go as far as crowds and cost. It might be a little chilly but being from the Northeast, it will be comfortable. Thank you for letting me know about easy wdw touring plans. Didn't know it existed!

This could be considered my first trip as well, since I'll be the one planning, paying and being caretaker for the first time. What I've come to realize is that while I HATE planning on a day to day base, I LIKE to plan for Disney! I love making to-do lists, making arrangements for ADR and booking.

I want everything to go as smooth as possible, so I have plan A, plan B and even a "screw it, let's play it by ear" plan C!

I hope it's not THAT chilly. I'm from the south (the DEEP south, aka Brazil!) so any temperature below 40 will be freezing for me! But hey, it's Disney, who cares if I freeze my toes off! :rotfl:

No, it won't be that cold, but it looks like typical weather for Feb. is lower 70's with the low being in the 50's, so 50's in the morning, and night time but 70's during the day. I think that weather is great, but hopefully it will be warm enough for a couple pool trips. I take that weather over the sweltering heat like I just encountered in September!
