Just now planning our first WDW vacation - last week of January/first week of February is our current trip dates.

I can't remember who said it above, but I'm similarly overwhelmed!

Just deleted my ticker today for a December trip. :sad1: We are now planning on going Feb 24-March 1. Intellectually, I know 2 months isn't that long to postpone the trip. Financially and vacation day wise, I know it would work out better in 2013. Emotionally, I want to be there NOW so December already seemed like a long time so adding 2 months is just awful. Ok I am done whining now. :rotfl: I said all that to say, I am so glad I found this thread. It was the pick me up I needed today. February doesnt seem so bad now. I loved reading the posts when everyone was talking about being less than a year away. That's seems doable.

I am not sure where we are staying yet. I am on a Pop budget with WL or AKL dreams. We would have stayed at Pop in December, but maybe now I will splurge on an upgrade.

UndercoverMama-I sent you a PM about the FB group!!

Welcome to the February thread! party:

I had to postpone our November vacation due to a number of issues so I know how you feel!

Keep thinking like this and those 300+days will be gone in an instant. Seriously, there's so much to do you don't even feel how time flies and next thing you know we'll at page 100 and saying how you are embarking tomorrow!

We're a very talkative bunch on Facebook, you'll be amazed!

DH said he is happy with the qsdp. (if they offer it free) so we will probably only do a couple meals OOP

Any must do counter service meals? Must avoids?

Wow!! You girls ARE talkative on FB!! I started reading but then realized it was going to take way longer than I have right now. Can't wait to join in the conversation later.

Glad to see I'm not the only one excited this far out from the trip. Just got back last month and are already talking about going again. We are planning to go around President's Day because of kids schedules and custody arrangements. I hate going when it's so crowded but it's better than not going at all. Our dates will most likely be Feb 13-18 but are not quite written in stone yet.

:welcome: to the Feb. thread! Sorry you had to postpone the trip, I know I would be disappointed too but you will have fun with us! :) We have a lot going on on the FB group! I am having so much fun discussing all the planning that it makes the trip feel not so far away!

We just downgraded our 2/13 trip from POR with 5 people to Pop with only 4, but added a fall trip for 4. We're just going to split up my middle 2 grandkids to separate trips. 4 people makes for a better trip, because nobody has to ride alone in the parks. Could you change my resort to Pop Century and dates to 2/9 to 2/15? UndercoverMama, I'll PM you about facebook.
Thanks.

A have a list of all CS restaurants and snack places I want to visit, gathered after reading way too many reviews over @ DisneyFoodBlog, easyWDW, etc.

Here are some of mine, divided by park but in no particular order, copied and pasted from my Notes on iPhone:

MK:

Columbia Harbor House - probably the one restaurant everyone agrees on. The food is great, the upstairs hold a sitting area most do not know about so it stays relatively uncrowded throughout most of the day.

Sleepy Hollow - sells amazing waffles sandwiches. Try to go for breakfast, they have a breakfast sandwich made with prosciutto, cheese, egg and tomato. Also the Nutella and fresh fruit waffle (banana and strawberry).

The Lunching Pad - pretzels with warm cream cheese.

Friar's Nook - potato skins with cheese, ranch and bacon.

Epcot:

Refreshment Port - serves spicy chicken and cheddar's poppers.

Fife and Drum - Pretzel with cream cheese and jalapeño.

La Cava Del Tequila - crab tostadas and queso com jalapeño. Plus the margueritas.

Lotus Blosson - egg rolls.

Downtown Disney

Wolfang Puck Express - Meatloaf

I'm sure there are plenty more, but this is what I have so far. I suggest browsing around DisneyFoodBlog, their site offers very detailed information on CS restaurants and what they serve.

LucyBC80 you have a great list already! Do you check all the reviews on allears.net also? I use that as one of my go to sites for all my dining decisons and I love reading the different reviews. I also like that you can look up the menus and prices for each restaurant.

Two trips instead of one? Twice the fun :thumbsup2

Lucy - love the list. I uh... don't want to sound like one of those crazy DISers :rolleyes1 but I may actually bring some sort of small card with the snacks/CS places I want to try for each park I go to. Sometimes I get overwhelmed when I am there and forget. I wondered around last year looking for dole whips and gave up soooo close. Ended up having pineapple juice with vanilla soft serve so it wasn't all bad ;) I would just like to remember certain ones I want to try and the ones I want to avoid when I am tired and we all get hungry.

I've read some reviews over at AllEars, yes! I have a sheet list I created using the prices they quote so I can have an idea of how much I'll spend with food with and without FD (and I'm crossing all fingers hoping for FD because that things adds up to way too much money!)

I totally recommend a cheat card with all your info! The only reason you will not see me with one is because I'll have my phone with me. I'll be the crazy person walking around and dodging people while texting and checking my notes. YES, I am an iPhone addicted!

A cheat sheet is definitely needed. I had lots of things I wanted to try, but forgot about them once I was there. I am going to plan out my CS choices better this time too. We tried a few places I wanted to, but also seemed to eat a lot of hamburgers.

On the plus side, it gives me one more thing I can do waaay ahead of time :surfweb:

I can't remember all the QS places we used when we had the DDP in 09, only Cosmic Rays ( because the chicken and ribs was DH's favorite meal ) one of the waterparks and the Tangierne (sp?) Cafe. The others must not have stood out...

We are going in February 2013. I will know the exact dates in 8 days when I can book our flights :cool1: We haven't decided a 100% what resort we will stay at but at the moment it looks like it's going to be Port Orleans French Quarter

You're really on the ball! I've got TS restaurants identified, but don't know which dates yet. I haven't even started going through CS meals. I also haven't figured out which park I want to do on which day yet. I'm hoping to see Park Hours/EMH and updated crowd calendars before I need to make my ADR's.

I wasn't going to do DDP but after figuring which character meals I want (now that I have a daughter who loves Disney princess movies, I really REALLY want a princess meal), and the Fantasmic Dining package, I will get a slightly better value doing regular DDP than out of pocket. And I have the really detailed spreadsheet to prove it. ;)

Right now I booked the room at POR for 2/8-2/14. This year Free Dining ended on Thursday before Mardi Gras. If they offer FD early in Feb and it ends on the 7th, I will book us to fly in the night of the 7th instead of the morning of the 8th to get FD.

Welcome to the February trip!

I'm staying at POFQ as well. I've never been, but reviews so far are stellar!

Thanks LucyBC80

I have never stayed at a Disney Resort in the USA. So it will be my first time at POFQ. If they are going with FD the same way as last year they will not offer FD for the value resorts for people living in Europe. It will also be the QSDP for the moderate resorts which is fine with me. We prefer to eat at CS so we can decide where to eat at the moment we are hungry and not 3 monts before

It will be 2 of us on this trip. My friend and I. My friend is visiting the USA for the first time in his life. I have been several times before as a child. It will be 24 years since my last trip to WDW when we go in February 2013.

When we're first making this long journey over the pond we will spend 1 month in the USA. 1 week at WDW 3 weeks on a road trip from Orlando to San Francisco and back to Orlando.
