Official DL July 2015 thread

Do you think July will be too busy to have photopass+ ? I always get photo pass but when I am there, July 9th-11th I am afraid it might be too busy with it being so close to the anniversary. As of right now we are not having a character meal but there will be plenty of ride photos and I am sure pictures with princesses! Does Elsa and Anna have a photopass photographer?

We are going July 16-18th and staying at HOJO's :)

Looking forward to our mom-son trip with just my DS 12! We will be there 7/10-7/12. Staying at CCI for the first time. It's gonna be great!

That is awesome MermaidHair. I think 12 is just about the best age to travel anywhere with your kid and Dland is no exception (my DD is 12). They are curious and game for anything and have real stamina finally at 12 -they aren't yet full on teenagers (like my DS 17) with the dead-like-a-corpse in the morning inability to wake up before 10 or 11am. And I love CCI. It is my go to place if we are not staying on property. I also find that a trip with just two people is super fun as there isn't as much compromising as when you take a bigger family group.

I am (im)patiently waiting for when I can make my July 17th reservations. I think May 18th is the day. I am probably going to hold out until May 19th to make the reservations though - since I am GOING TO UNIVERSAL STUDIOS this weekend! (unless I find some time to make the call anyway lol)

Hopefully I will be OK :) I am planning for Blue Bayou lunch and Carnation Cafe dinner.

Thanks Congo Queen - I think you are right about a 2person trip. Plus DS and I are usually on the same wavelength when in the parks so I think we will be excellent touring companions!

Have you figured out something special for your DS on your trip yet? I have my thinking cap on for you but it's hard when you don't know the person. Would your family do the matching tshirt thing? That could be fun.

I will be there July 19-21. I wasn't planning on another DLR trip for this year, but I was asked to go by some family who want to bring my baby niece for her first DLR trip. Since I have an AP this year I saw no reason to pass up the opportunity!

I have never been in July, usually I avoid the busier times of year. We booked the hotel a couple of months ago and I was shocked by the prices! Are they always so much higher in July than the rest of the year? I have never had trouble getting a room for about $100 a night right across from the parks, but we had to do some serious research to find anything close to that for this trip. We will be staying at Tropicana - I've never stayed so I hope it works out.

I also thought it was a little crazy that my family wanted to bring a 6 month old to DLR at one of the hottest, busiest times to go...but since this feels more like a "bonus" trip to me I am just looking forward to enjoying the new 60th anniversary stuff and not stressing about rides so much.

We are going June 28-July5. We are staying at GCV. I can't wait. We will not be at the park on the 4th. I do not want to try to get through those crowds. :)

Well here is what I have figured out so far. We live in NoCal and my DS will start at USC in August so I am giving him a special graduation gift to help us meet-up throughout the academic year at the happiest place on earth. I am putting together a gift box for him to open when we get to our DLH room on the first day of our July vacation. In the box will be the schedule for the LA Metro Bus #460 (this line runs straight from USC to Disneyland), a Metro tap card with bus fare pre-loaded, and his first AP for Dland. My daughter and I will also be getting our first AP's. DS can visit Dland with his friends whenever he has the time (studying comes first!) plus my DD and I will plan to come down for weekends and short school break visits to meet up w him at Dland. (Plus, just for general enhancement of our July vacation, I have extended our stay by one day, and I upgraded our DLH room type to premium view.) My husband who likes his one yearly trip to Dland is cool with all of us having APs except him. So that is all I have come up with so far. My only worry is that DS will be so busy at college that he will rarely have a weekend free, but we'll see.

As for t-shirts, we all really like the Smokey-the-Bear shirts they are now selling in the new re-themed DCA Grizzly Peak Airfield store called Humphrey's. So I think we'll all get one the first day and dork around together in our matching togs. My DD will die of embarrassment which will be great fun for the rest of us :)

Congo Queen, That sounds like a great plan. I love the new Smokey shirts too! I also think the AP idea is great. I would be interested to know how much he uses it in a year. It is nice to hear that he still enjoys Disney with you even though he is getting older! If I could go back in time I would have gone to school in the LA area and studied to be an imagineer. Why does it take 20+ years after college to figure out what you want to do when you grow up?

We will be there July 20-25. Hoping it's NOT QUITE as busy as the Anniversary week. This will be our first off Site trip. Staying with some points at Sheraton Park. I hope I don't mind catching the Toy Story shuttle....or even walking if we get ambitious! Should be FUN!

Can't believe it's been nearly a year since I have been to this board.
However, I am back to check in that we are once again going the week of July 13th and staying at the ole' reliable Super 8/Disneyland drive.

Really enjoyed the Paradise Pier last year but Enjoy that extra money in my pocket.

has the drought in Cali affected DL? the beautiful flowers and the water rides

We are going 7/11-7-17 and staying at the GC. Celebrating our wedding anniversary and my belated 30th bday!

I celebrated my 5th 29th birthday this year!! And I'm hoping to figure out a DW trip for my 6th next year...but that's probably VERY wishful thinking!

This is the part where I get VERY anxious about getting there!!! Like I can't focus in real life kind of anxious. 20 more school days, and then I can obsess appropriately without letting it affect my real work ;)

I just made my F! dinner reservations online last night for Blue Bayou for the 20th which will be a Monday. We are eating at 5pm so not sure which showing that is. Also want to make a WOC dinner reservation at Carthay Circle but not sure what day yet.
I was also pleasantly surprised to find a listing of locations with their new allergy friendly menus so we'll see how that works out. (I have a new fish/shellfish allergy)
