Official Disneyland ½ Marathon & 5k

Since I upgraded to the Premium Pass, and I discovered a new found love of DL and SoCal with last year's DL ½ and the Tink ½....I'm working the numbers on this one....:goodvibes:goodvibes

Is there transportation from the Good Neighbor hotels to the start line/area?

Vicky Yes. There is the ART shuttle. Several routes going by lots of hotels. It was free. I took it in 2010 from the Resience Inn (although the hotels are so close that it's not that far a walk--1/2 mile or so from where I stayed). It dropped us off at the main DL transportation area, which then meant a fairly decent walk to get to the start line. I don't see the course maps posted, so I can't remember how long.

Thanks Maura! I'm still trying to decide on a hotel - too many choices LOL

We're staying at the Best Western Park Place Inn. Looks very close. A friend just stayed at the Fairfield Inn for Tinkerbell, and reported it was very close. Get Travel has a special rate for the weekend.

For the hotels on Harbor Blvd, can you cut through the area between the two parks and DTD to get to the start area or do you have to walk along the streets.

You can cut through. On the way to the start you are there way before security is open so it is pretty easy non-stop (unless you want to take photos of the emptiness and entrances without people in the way). However, in order to return to your hotel, you need to stand in line to go through security. Even if you don't have a bag to be searched. Wasn't a fun experience at last year's Half or the Tink....:sad2::sad2:

That's where I'm staying! Stayed there for Tink last weekend, and loved it. The convenience of just walking across the street for the parks was awesome.

Completely agree w/ you on that one!! I wish they would have a runner's line for the security point after the race. We just want to go back to the hotel and take a shower! If anybody from the parks is reading this...

I stayed at the Best Western Stovall's for Tink and have already reserved it for the Half in September.

It's almost as close as Paradise Pier.

We've also got our room booked for the DL 1/2 and for Tink next year.

Although we may break up our stay for the Tink with a on property hotel. After Tink we had to walk all around the block through DL hotel parking lot to get to Walnut to get back to Katella. It was another 40 or so walk. They would not let us get to Katella walking down DL Drive due to the race still going on. It was a MAJOR pain but hey...whats a few more miles.

We walked down to Katella and they also wouldn't let us cross so we walked back up to the road that went into the Finish line area and crossed to the east side of the street and they were letting people cross the race course there (becasue so many spectators were trying to get to the finish line area) and then we walked down to Katella and crossed.

Oh !!! Glad you did not have to walk the way we did. It was really frustrating to be so close and could not get across the street. I have to say the morning walk to the start was great and very easy.

P.S. I loved your costume you wore--very cute.

another thing to think about is that you can park for free on the morning of the race. At least last year I got to for the 5K. I left the car there after the race and went back to the hotel. We stayed at the Portofino Inn which is on the opposite side of the street to California Adventure, and is a long walk.

You have to be there super early so make sure the ART is running that early.

Thanks! I'm trying to decide on one for the Half in September. I think I'm going with Ariel. :)

The ART shuttles have run in past years to pickup racers. They run a different schedule from normal. The race program will give you the details. As a plus, ART was free for racers last year. I didn't use it until after the race. I showed them my medal and they give me a special pass that was good for race weekend.

Glad to hear you thought BWPPI was worth a return visit!

As for the lines through security, the same issue exists trying to get on the monorail after the WDW Half/Marathon. It stinks (especially since this year we had some adult beverages we had brought to the finish and we had to get rid of them before going through security). But it is what it is.

Good to know that it's not just DL. Did you drink your drinks or did you toss them? Last week after the race we went to lunch and I had a shot and even that 1 went straight to my head. :rotfl2: I can't imagine what it would be like right after you finished!

We drank them :cool1: I actually had been done for a while--I was in Corral A and finished in about 2 hours but then I camped out with some friends and waited for my husband to finish (he was in D and finished in 3.20). I'm hoping he speeds up before DL...if not, I might go, shower, then come back and see him finish!
