lurkyloo....

Thank you. I will start researching what type of cake I want. Don't want a big one, thinking of the little mini wedding cake. Also have to stay within budget.

Another question: Do I have to know what I want or do they have a list? Or do we just talk and work it out on the phone?

Our son-in-law ordered a cake for his wife's birthday from the cake line to be delivered to our room at the Grand Floridian Resort....WOW...the cake was amazingly, fantasticly wonderful, bavarian creme with strawberries, and HUGE 7 layers..we all agreed not to eat it but we weren't able to do that..everytime someone passed by the cake we took a piece...lol...by the end of the trip there was only half of the cake left...(it cost $95) but 100% worth it.....THANK YOU ALL

Our cake is being delivered to The Wave...anyone know if we can use the TIW discount on the cake?

You can, but they will also tack the 18% gratuity on the price of the cake, so it's kind of a wash... Our server at CA Grill was a great guy and he cut the cake for us, but I wasn't crazy about giving him $18 extra for it on top of the 18% tip he got for our meal...

Oh, yeah, I forgot about that! :thumbsup2

This is true, but our server at the Yachtsman was fantastic!! He did such a good job to make sure it was a surprise for dh and that it came out at the right time, and he cut it, took pictures of us with the cake, and took such care to box it up nicely for us, that I'd rather give him 18% and save 2% on the cake overall.

I've tried searching the thread... but has anyone ordered a custom cake from the Dolphin Resort? The other couple we are traveling with is celebrating their anniversary at Shula's and we'd like to order them a custom cake (the chocolate with peanut butter mousse would be *amazing*). If not there, what are our other options? I'm not familiar with where the Dolphin is located in relation to the other resorts (we always stay off-site).

The Dolphin is in the EPCOT resort area but it is not a WDW owned/operated resort. I would think that you'd have to call the Dolphin directly to see if they do custom cakes. I could be completely wrong though :), hopefully someone can give you more info.

Just had one too many "http://"s in your code.

I need a little last minute help. I ordered a cake from the GF, and I'm not thrilled about what to write on the banner. It's my 30th birthday, but it's also a celebration of our new son, and our 5th anniversary of being together. Thoughts? I was thinking "So much to Celebrate.." but I dunno.
Can anyone think of something cute?

What about... Celebrating life or Celebrating our life together?

We leave today for WDW--can't wait to see how our cake turns out...changed our ADR from The Wave to WCC, so I was a bit worried about the cake making it there. However, when I called WL private dining, they knew all about the cake and even knew what time our reservation was.

I'll be sure to post pics when we return! :)

Can anyone tell me how to go about ordering a Mickey Head Cake for Ohana? I'd appreciate any help you can give me. Thanks!

I just ordered a cake for Sci Fi for my daughters birthday on January 23rd I got a cake that feeds eight and will have Kermit The Frog on it. she only quoted me 32.99 it will be a screen print but as long as it has Kermit I don't care lol. I wanted to do it at Tonys on her actual birthday the 24th but we are doing a dessert party.

Call the Cake Hotline listed in the first post of this thread. Follow the prompts for Ohana. If they tell you they can't do the Mickey Head Cake at Ohana, come back here and we'll give you some ideas on how to get one there. :thumbsup2

I just wanted to let everyone know what a great find this was (thanks dis members who told me about these little mickey head cakes). I really was torn on what to do for my 2 year old (she turned 2 on our trip). Well I solved the problem by getting 2 of these cute mickey head cakes (a little bigger than a cupcake) I wanted to do one mickey and one minnie, but the boardwalk bakery said they couldn't even put an icing bow on one of them. Well when I left the bakery I spotted the candy store next door and went in to see if I could find something to use as a red bow. I saw the bins of jelly beans lining the wall and so I asked the guy at the counter if it would be possible for me to buy 3 jelly beans. I told him why I wanted them and he told me he would just give me the 3 jelly beans- he got them out of the container for me because I had no clue how to go about makingonly 3 jelly beans come out (thank-you to who ever you are you helped make my day and make my little girls birthday even more special). When I got to our room I wrote with a pen - happy birthday on the plate (next time I would bring one of those gel icing pens with me) and placed the 2 cakes side by side I pressed three jell beans into the top of one of the cakes to make something that looked like a bow and added 2 candles. Her expression was priceless when she saw her cake. She squealed "mi-he and min- he" (which means mickey and minnie) so I must have gotten it to half way look right. It was just the right size for us to each have a little piece. Totatally worth 2 snack credits- that actually impressed my husband that it counted asa snack.
Not sure how to post pictures, but if I can figure that out I will add one or two.
