FYI, polynesian resorts or restaurants diners(ohana, kona) can order cake from Grand Floridian and they will pick up cakes at GF for free. I jsut called poly's private dining. Isn't that great? mini castyle cakes, mickey statue, cinderella slippers....great news!

Poly does not have any bakery.

Ohhh that is awesome. I hope I get the same answer when I call for my birthday cake in December! :)

How to contact grand Floridian Bakery- We are doing a breakfast AND a dinner- would love a castle cake for this meal for my new DIL

Where did you call? So far, only Yacht & Beach Club has this rule. Contemporary will go as small as 8 inches and Grand Floridian goes down to 6 inches for a customized cake. :thumbsup2

Thanks Lurkyloo....it was actually the beach club. It was on day one of our trip maybe I'll look into doing it somewhere else. I figured I'd get it day one so we'd at least have 8 days to try to eat the thing :rotfl:

Do you think if I beg BC would do an 8??? lol

That's what I thought. I left a message for the chef, so hopefully she calls me back.

By the time I got off the phone with her, I was doubting myself. :rotfl:

I got the same answer when I called today. I didn't even ask for a mad hatter cake. I asked for a fancy fondant covered cake with a jungle theme. Not a Lion King theme. Not any particular characters. Just a jungle theme with some animals. They told me they couldn't do it because it was copyrighted?!? I was like what??? How do you copyright a jungle themed cake with animals? They said they couldn't do a fancy fondant cake with a jungle theme fancy cake because it was copyrighted, but they could do a regular cake with some generic stuff. I said no thanks. Sounds to me like they just don't want to be bothered with making a fancy cake. I just ordered one from a local Orlando Bakery to be delivered to the resort before our arrival and in our room for arrival. Our first trip to disney for my 3 year old, and so far my impression of the Disney's incredible "hospitality" has been left wanting. Maybe I'll have more success with our cake at Chef Mickey's for our last night.

This cake was made at the yacht club bakery and given to us at Cape May dinner on 8/15/10 for my sons birthday. 10 inch cake $125.

The cake tasted really great.

This is exactly the kind of cake we want made for Chef Mickey's our final night.

Out of curiousity, who did you use? :rolleyes1

I'd like to have more details on this too. That may be a good option for the Universal hotels too.

GTSurgery, it sounds like you're probably right, & they just don't want to make customized cakes.

Ended up using Sprinkles. Tried a couple of others (ones mentioned by lurkloo), one had no availability, the other I couldn't get in touch with forever and when I finally did, they quoted me about $475 ($375 for cake and $100 delivery) for delivery of a cake and wouldn't deliver it on Sunday (our arrival date) either.

Do you mind sharing some of the options available & pricing for Sprinkles? I somehow missed Lurkyloo's post & didn't even know this was an option.

I can't seem to find a list of the different chocolate characters available.

I know there is Mickey and Minnie, Tinkerbell and I am sure I have seen a Cinderella and a Pluto. But what other characters are available in chocolate for cake toppers (or to order at a restaurant as a surprise)? Mainly at GF but maybe at YC&BC also. Is there a Chocolate Pirate Mickey? Is there a list somewhere that I have missed?

Thanks :goodvibes

I'm not aware of a list but I know Goofy is available because we had him on top of our cake last year (ordered from Yacht & Beach Club). They even painted him for us ... very cool!

Well, I called and order a "flower cake" from the cake hotline....I pressed the Hoop-Dee-Doo extension and was given the choice of the podium cake, Mickey head cake, or a floral cake. I went with the floral and chose a chocolate cake w/dark mouse filling and ganache for frosting. I then asked if a Donald/Daisy theme where possible and was given Brians e-mail over at CR. Brian can do a cake for $85...same size and fillings etc. He said it would be a 2D Donald/Daisy backed in white choclate, with flowers and our inscription. This price probably doesn't include delivery over to the show? The regular flower cake is $45. So I would be paying $40+delivery just to have the Donald/Daisy on the cake. Im looking for opinions. Is it worth it? Im leaning towards keeping my original flower cake order. Id love a custom cake from Brian, but for the money Im not sure there will be a big difference (in this case):confused3

Do you know what size the floral cake from HDDR is? I know the smallest custom cake from CR is 8" - if the HDDR was only a 6" that would explain some of the price difference as well.

The other thing, if you go with Brian I think you might have additional options for the filling (raspberrry mousse for example) and should have more choice regarding the type and/or colour of the flowers.

Maybe you could email Brian back and politely ask him how his custom floral cake would be different than a typcial floral podium cake. That might help you make you decision.

Are these chocolate characters available at the Poly? We're staying there and I would love to have it delivered to our room. If that's not possible, what about the Contemporary. We're eating dinner at California Grill.

So what Im gathering is its prob not possible to have a cake delivered to Biergarten?
Biergarten is the birthday girls favorite place! So any other suggestions?

We go to whispering canyon cafe the night before her birthday... can I have a cake delivered there?

They do cakes at WCC! I don't think they do the fancy ones like at the CR or GF but they will do a cake with flowers and such. They are really pretty. If you look in the cake gallery I think there are a few.

Well I am very excited. After reading this thread for over a year, dreaming up my cakes (in particular my 40th birthday cake), I have sent off emails to AKL, YC and GF bakeries to order our three cakes (we are at WDW for 22 nights so we have a cake a week :woohoo:) I have not head back from AKL or YC as yet, but it's only 24hrs since I sent the email, so that's fine. I did however hear back from GF, amazing! Less than 24 hours! I'm very impressed.

So after answering all of my questions, I have just sent back ordering a tall 6 inch, 4 layer chocolate cake, with dark chocolate mousse filling and fondant. I have decided on a 6 inch white choc castle on top and silver stamping on the fondant. I have asked for the colourings of very pale pink, white and silver, which I will leave the combo up to the chef.

Am having the cake on our wishes cruise in early October.

I am also ordering a white chocolate character for each of the guests at my party (the cruise :rotfl: ) as a party favor. I haven't decided on the characters yet. The choice is between Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald, Belle and Tinkerbelle. So I am not sure wether to get an assortment of each, or get Mickey for the boys and Minnie for the girls. I can get each of those in a gold box with a window, which has a handle so they will be perfect for everybody to leave the cruise carrying their chocolate character.

Anyway I am really excited. I will post photos when we get back. I hope to hear from the other bakeries soon, AKL is the closest one that needs to be ordered, at least if I don't hear from the YC, we will be at WDW for 2 weeks before needing that cake so I have plenty of time to call whilst there but the AKL cake is for our arrival night so have to have it orgainsed before.

Will keep you all posted :thumbsup2

Hi All:
I tried searching this thread but didn't have much luck.
Can I have a mini wedding cake delivered to my room at the beach club?
Should it be arranged through the beach club concierge or Boardwalk bakery?

We will be at WDW for my daughter's 10th birthday and she is wanting a cake with a peace sign on it. I am thinking about having her cake delivered to 1900 Park Fare on the night of our arrival. Any suggestions? I thought I had seen a cake on here with peace signs on fondant but now I can't find it again and I'm not sure where it was actually made either. Please help!! :worship:

Check out the cake index in the second post. There is a Mickey Mouse Peace cake there.
