Regarding the slipper dessert, they do NOT give you a choice. As far as they are concerned you are only offered the white chocolate slipper BUT some guests have been surprised with a dark chocolate slipper at CRT (not GF that I know of). There is no rhyme or reason for this and you never know if you'll be one of the guests that gets a dark chocolate slipper. It is very random and rare to see a dark chocolate slipper.

You can call and ask but I'm 99% sure they will tell you they only offer white chocolate.

I called yesterday to order one for May 15th, and I was asked which I wanted, the white or dark. :confused3

i called and asked could i get a custom cake made and delivered at CRT i was told yes and was told to contact the Contempary Chef closer to the time as we do not go until Oct they also called CRT for me to ask if they will store the cake as we have an ADR for breakfast and do not wish to carry the cake around MK with us they said yes but i forgot to ask how much they charge for delivery from Contempary to CRT does anybody know??:confused3

I'm not sure if they deliver there or not...Hopefully someone else has the answer!

Well I emailed the CR pastry chef and told them about the no returned calls and I got a call from CRT and an email from CR. The cm at CRT was very nice and apologetic and very helpful. I guess we shall see what happens from here.

I have now ordered three custom cakes. (One for this trip for my son's b-day) and I am wanting to call now to order our 25th anniversary cake--but I am not sure if it is better to call between 9-5 eastern time or if it doesn't matter. I have called during those hours before but it is later than that already today...

Would I be able to get a decorated cake at Crystal Palace? I wanted to do something for my nieces birthday (her actual birthday is 2 weeks after our trip) however my other two neices one of which has a birthday at the same time is now going with us as well. However the whole group was not able to be on all the same ADRs since the last two were added later.

I originally wanted to do the cake at Chef Mickey's but two of my nieces aren't on that ADR, all of us are on Crystal Palace together though so I was hoping to do do a cake then.

Can anyone answer my question about the $32 cake at the crystal palace. I called and the girl was not helpful at all and not friendly. I am supposed to get a white cake with buttercream - no chocolate. She had no idea if the cakes were peanut or nut free. Also they said that there could be nothing on the cake with Mickey - just either sprinkles or flowers only. Is this correct? I saw people posting the $21 sara lee ones and they have a flat piece of chocolate with Mickey mouse.

In my experience, I have found the times to be hit or miss. I don't think there is a "best" or "worst" time to call!

"scrappingizlife:I called yesterday to order one for May 15th, and I was asked which I wanted, the white or dark."

Whoo-hoo! We'll be there mid-June so thanks for the good news!:cool1:

I'm glad you FINALLY got a live person!! :woohoo:

Generally people order IllumiNations Cruise cakes from the Yacht&Beach Club Bakery, cuz it's closer, and they deliver it to the boat. We happened to bring leftover cake from a restaurant onboard our IllumiNations cruise and there were plates and forks already. :thumbsup2

Thank you so very much!!:goodvibes Now I just have to try and decide what/what size to order as we leave the NEXT day!:scared:

I can't specifically comment on the cake/price you were quoted but can comment on the nut allergy thing. Every Disney person I've EVER spoken with has advised that our DS5 NOT eat anything at all unless it's specially made and ensured to be safe (we always have a chef come to the table at our TS meals and take his "order" which he loves and I'm so thankful they do!). They will NOT give you an "all clear" for the cakes in my experiance because the ingrediants have the typical "may contrain traces of tree nuts" or "manufactured in a facility that processes peanuts", ect. My DS5 is allergic to nuts in general - not just peanuts - and had a piece of cake from each of the cakes we have ordered (mini-castle cheesecake cake, plain white with buttercream cake in Epcot, white cake with gnoche at GFC). I made it very clear he had the allergy and that NO peanuts be used in the cake at all when I placed the orders. He's never had a problem at all. They've always offered me other options when I've ordered the cakes that were "safe" (one was a brownie or a "crispy rice" square but nothing that compared to a fancy cake that everyone else was eating). If you're truly worried about the potential for an allergy, I would skip or have her tested before you go (they'd probably do a blood test at that age). I always give DS5 a VERY small taste first to see if he breaks out (with just about any "new" food and when DH who's an EMT is on hand) just to make sure because he's allergic to so many things - food and environmental (the poor kid's allergic to nuts, shellfish, potatoes, soy, eggs, carrots, mustard, garlic so we're really kind of limited in regards to food). I always carry Benadryl with me and his epi-pen just in case and we've never needed the epi-pen. I don't recall a time at Disney that we've need one food-related.

Wow you guys! We have 2 DS's that have the same B-Day and I was going to order a small cake for them after their T-Rex B-Day lunch. I will really check out/pay attention to the cost and the servings. I can make a Betty Crocker at home and bring it with us to our room for $5.00, :). °O°

I just ordered a Cars themed cake for my son's 4th birthday for when we go next week! :cool1:

We will be having our meal at Chef Mickey's on my son's birthday and were going back and forth via email with the chef there and once we finalized everything we wanted he told us to call Private Dining and give them the specifics (size, theme, what type of the cake, reservation number, etc.) so they could get a written order too.

I know a few people have asked about a Cars themed cake so as soon as we get back I'll post pics of it!! I'm so excited! DS is going to be so surprised when he sees the cake :dance3:

Can I order a custom cake from Boatwrights?

Do I call the Contemporary for cake delivery at Whispering Canyon, or Whispering Canyon directly?

I know that this probably belongs on the cake chatter thread, but I wanted to make sure my question was seen :)

TIA!

I plan to order a specialty cake for my DH's birthday in June. I really want something unique and special, so which bakery would be a better choice? Yacht&Beach Club Bakery or Boardwalk Bakery?
We are staying at Boardwalk & have dinner ressies at the Yachtsman Steakhouse.

can anyone help with this? :confused3

Has anyone ever found a picture(s) of what they wanted and sent them to the Disney pastry chef that would be doing the cake? I see alot of great pictures of cakes that were ordered at the CR and GF on here that I would like to incorporate into the cake I want to order. (We plan on dinner at Cali Grill or Citrico's) I figure if they have done it once, they can do it again and "Hey, here's a picture of what you did that I liked and could you please do it for me.) How sucessful were you if you did this? I don't mind paying $60, $100, or $160 dollars as long as I get what I ask for and what they quote me for. It's great if you can get your money back if you are not satisfied but how does that make up for the disappointment of recieving something you did not order. I want to order DD's birthday cake during our December trip but I want to do everything possible to ensure that the moment that they bring out her cake is a moment she will never forget.

I've seen more pix of elaborately themed cakes from the Yacht Club Bakery than BoardWalk, so I say order one from there for your Yachtsman dinner.

Yes. We sent a composite of multiple cake photos to the CR pastry chef, and our cake turned out exactly as we wanted it. Also, numerous people have sent in the picture of a Haunted Mansion cake he did last year and received an identical cake.

I just ordered a cake for our August trip for my son's 10th birthday. We are having dinner at Yachtsman's Steakhouse and I orderd through Y&B private dining. They are doing a custom two tiered cake made to look like Space Mountain. It was quoted at $200. I can't wait to see it. I really wanted something special and something specific to his favorite ride. They were very cooperative and prompt in returning calls. I was impressed with the attention they gave to the order.:cheer2:

Do you have to pay for the cake when you reserve it or when you receive it? Is 5 weeks too early to order a custom cake from Cali Grill?

Thanks!

Amy
