Animal Kingdom Lodge bakery is probably going to tell you no—only a couple of places are willing to do any fillings besides chocolate/vanilla/fruit, and AKL has not historically been one of them. So far only Grand Floridian, Contemporary and BoardWalk Bakery have been willing to make it. However, it's always worth asking Private Dining at AKL—things can change.

This list will give you a complete rundown of what flavors are offered where, plus phone numbers:

I'm having a cake done by one of the chefs that services AKL (also does DHS) and we are getting Bavarian cream with bananas and strawberries in the center. I have double and triple checked with him that he is able to do this filling, and he said yes each time.
I'll be sure to post pictures and give a detailed description of the cake after we get it next Tuesday!!!!

Thanks for posting this list.

I do have a question for the Cake guru's though - what are the options for filling for the fondant cakes from Private Dining at Contemporary?

With the Contemporary, you really just have to ask. There are the standard ones listed on that page I linked to, but they have been known to do some of the specialty fillings and flavors in the big list of wedding cake flavors available at the GF. So I would say, pick the ones you want from that list and then ask the chef at the Contemporary if you can get them. :thumbsup2

So I've been keeping up with this forum for months now, and I just love it!:goodvibes! I finally just ordered my cake for our stay in two weeks from the coral reef and after all the beautiful pictures that have been put up on here I was a little bummed out with the outcome. Its for my nephews 2nd birthday and he absolutely loves cars, and I was really hoping I was hoping to luck out and be able to get the white chocolate cut outs on it, but she said they only do that at the resort bakeries, but that I could get a screen print. I've seen some screen print cakes on here and have been less then impressed by them. We aren't doing any resort dining so I had to settle with that. Does anyone have any pictures of a cake that the screen print came out not so... tacky? I'm debating whether I really should spend the money on it or not.. and do they put anything special on it or is it just going to be a plain cake with a screen print in the middle? any feedback would be greatly appreciated, I've been looking forward to ordering this cake since I found out we were going! thanks!!
:yay:

I can't help you with pictures. Why don't you consider doing the cake at another meal? You probably wanted it for his actual birthday but when celebrating in Disney you celebrate for the entire length of you trip.

Yes, Epcot can only do screen prints, and I'm afraid I can't recommend them. The one I've seen in person was all smeared and had a line through it. :sad2: They will surround the screen print with whipped cream swirls and top it with sprinkles and that's about it.

I would recommend contacting the bakery at the Yacht & Beach Club—they recently took an order for a custom cake and delivered it to Coral Reef for the person, so maybe they'd do it again. This page has all the contact info and will tell you what options are available there (scroll down to the bottom); you may have to order a 10-inch cake in order to customize it: http://disneytravelbabble.com/how-to/order-cake/by-location/

I tried contacting Pat Anderson for a cake for a December dinner at the GF on Wednesday and I have not heard back yet. Any ideas how long I should give it before I contact her again? I left a voicemail and email.

Thanks!:goodvibes

First, I'd like to say thank you for all the help that this thread has provided. I spent the past few months reading each and every page & loved every minute of it!! :goodvibes
I am so excited, as we're checking into Bay Lake Towers on Monday to celebrate our son's 10th b'day. I left a message for Chef Brian early on in the week & never rec'd a phone call back. I was getting very discouraged & gave it one last shot. I sent him an email & heard back from him this morning! :woohoo:
I'm going with a Phineas & Ferb theme, 8'' vanilla cake. I'll post photos of it when we return home.
We are having it delivered to our villa. Does anyone know if we can apply our TIW discount for private dining?

Thank you for the info. I contacted her last Wednesday (phone and email) & still no response. Does it typically take her a few days to return calls or emails?

I"m wondering when I should try to contact her again. I don't want to appear demanding, but it's for a wedding that is coming up in about a month and a half so I"m anxious to get this ordered!!

when i contacted her in 09 i heard back that night(which was interesting as it was a surprise from dh...nothing like trying to hide a call like that in a small house!) pp is correct about her days off, since were so far out i'd prob give it another week just incase she is away on vacay. or she may be thinking that you're contacting her too soon. i ordered labour day weekend for october 7th. if you dont hear by next week try again.

I called on a Monday, when she was out of the office. On the voice mail, i left my phone number and email as ways to return my call. She followed up with both a call and an email the next day. Good luck!

I would like to get birthday cake for nieces fiance who will be turning 20 this Dec. We are having dinner at Fulton's Crab (his favorite) and need suggestions on how/where to get cake. Does Fulton's offer anything or should I just buy one and take with us or drop off earlier? I'd kinda like it to be a surprise.
Thanks!

We had this one made for my daughter's 16th birthday. We had it at O'hanas Oct 11. cost was $450

Does anyone have the name, #, and email for custom ordered cakes at the Grand Floridan?

Thanks.

Location: Delivered to our room at VWL by the Contemporary bakery
Date: Oct. 17, 2011
Cost: $96 (we were quoted $75 via email...I assume the extra $20 was for delivery and tip)
Occasion: Our daughter's 5th birthday

I provided a picture of Goofygirl's cake (from earlier in the thread) and asked them to make the same cake. She posted that she was quoted $60...we were quoted $75 for the exact same cake from the exact same bakery just a month later, which was disappointing. The cake was very good and my daughter loved coming back for our mid-day break from the park to see this cake. I'm just sad we had to leave over half of it behind.
