If I wanted a fancy cake by Chef Brian - can I have it delivered to Chef Mickey at the Contemporary? We are also eating at Boma later in the week and could have a cake done there.
Which would be best? Thank you! I have never ordered a cake whiel on vacation and this will probably be a one time deal.

Thank you very much. i was leaning toward Chef Brian. Also, we are staying at VWL it will be easy to drop cake off at room.

Again, thank you.

:goodvibes Can't wait to see it!

I have already received the information for my cake from Sous Chef Ben (I think Brian is away right now). I was wondering if I call the cake order hoteline now, do you think I should confirm with Chef Ben or the cake hotline closer to my date? The cake is for Oct 31stpirate:

I would definitely confirm it about two weeks out by calling Private Dining at the Contemporary directly.

Do you know if Pat at GF has an email that I could email a picture of the cake I want?

We're not allowed to share cast member emails on the DIS, but if you call her (GF Private Dining Cake # is 407-824-1951) she can give it to you.

Yes, because he works at the Contemporary. This is a much better bet than trying to order a cake from AKL, which can only reliably provide very basic cakes.

I'm ordering a special cake for our next visit. Can I order a slipper at the same time? We are having lunch at CRT.

So I wouldn't call the cake line again, nor e-mail Chef Brian, I would call Private Dining at the Contemporary, right?
Where would I get the phone number?
Thanks so much!!!:goodvibes

I called the cake # for AKL and ordered a cake. I also sent them an email with a photo and they responded saying they would call to confirm. It has been several days and they haven't called and I'm getting a little nervous. What should I do? Thanks in advance!

Have a back-up plan. :goodvibes

Seriously, I'd give them another call since you are getting very close to your trip. But I'd also have another cake planned and ready to call to order it if you either don't hear from AKL or they can't do what you want. Good luck!

Just made a tiny change on the cake I sketched. Pat was wonderful & so easy to deal with:goodvibes

You could email Chef Brian to confirm closer to the date, since you didn't get to communicate with him directly the first time. But once the order's set with him, all the rest of the dealings are with Private Dining, on the phone. The Cake Hotline will get you there eventually, but it's just easier to call directly: 407-824-2955

(For future reference, all direct phone numbers are listed HERE.)

I emailed again and received a call for my order at AKL. It was for a 10 in cake to look like this. To be delivered to our room on my daughter's birthday. I was quoted $84.66 for it. That includes delivery, tax and tip. Is it just me or is this a little much for this cake? It seems like a fairly simple cake. Anyway, I went ahead with the cc hold. We have reservations at CRT on her birthday, but I thought with that much cake it would be nice to have it at the room. I am seriously thinking of calling Chef Brian to see what the quote would be?

It's a lot for a cake, especially one that's only covered in buttercream, but those are Disney prices. Chef Brian's quote might be lower simply because he can make smaller cakes than AKL will let you order. Dunno how big your group is, but a 6-inch cake will easily feed a family of 5, with some leftovers.

We ordered a cake based on the Disney-Pixar film Up for our 10th Wedding Anniversary. It was delivered to our intimate dining in the Grand Floridian, and the cake was nothing short of spectacular...

Price: $250
Date Received: Sept 8 2011
Location: Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, intimate dining
Cake Info: marble cake with white chocolate icing & raspberry filling. Covered in white chocolate ganache
Other Info: We asked for the 2 chairs from Up modeled with with the house screen printed in white chocolate in the back. The banner read "Love is the Greatest Adventure - Wendy & Bret"

I can't say enough about the cake. It was amazing in every way. The detail was breathtaking - the chairs were hand sculpted & painted perfectly. The cake itself was heavenly...so delicious. And the bell desk at AKL (where we were staying, not where the cake was delivered) allowed us to keep it in the refrigerator there so that we could bring it home and finish it. Amazing - I would SO do the custom cake again.

Hello everyone
I am amazed by all the wonderful cakes on this thread!!!
I want to order a cake to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. Here is my dilemma- I have Dine with Imagineer (Brown Derby) booked as a surprise for my husband the day of our anniversary. And I have California Grill booked for two days before. I don’t need a big cake and would be happy to share with the other folks at our table at DWI- but would that be appropriate? Or should I order a small one for us at CG??

Suggestions????

One thing about the Dine With an Imagineer program is that it is so fascinating that you don't really pay a lot of attention to your food. And at the one we went to, the Imagineer didn't even get to eat cuz he was talking the whole time! All of us were cramming in questions for him as fast as we could because the time spent with such a wonderful resource didn't feel like enough. So taking time out to present and admire and serve a cake might reduce how much you get to hear from the Imagineer.

Also, DHS' bakery can't do as much fancy stuff/flavors for the cakes as the Contemporary bakery can.

To me, surprising your husband with the cake 2 days early gives you A) the opportunity to get a really cool cake made by the Contemporary, B) more time on your trip to eat the leftovers, and C) the advantage of maybe throwing your husband off the scent of the *real* surprise on your anniversary. I mean, you will have already presented him with a cake, so he might not expect something even cooler on the actual day. :goodvibes

Great cake! It's one of the few I've seen where the screen printing on white chocolate actually integrates effectively with the design instead of looking like a cheap shortcut. Did you keep the chairs? They should last quite a while with proper care. :thumbsup2

So we are staying at CR and I called and left a message on 407-824-2955. Is that the correct number? And how long before they usually call you back. This is for a cake on either the 25th or 26th of this month.

TIA,
Michele

what a great cake - love the sentiment

Me, DH, and my in-laws will be there for a week in October. We want to surprise my FIL for his birthday. Originally I wanted to do one of those fantastic fondant pretty cakes, but its just more than we want to spend. So now I'm deciding what I want to do, and where. We are staying at Wilderness Lodge in the Villas. Here are our TS reservations for the trip

Chefs de France- first night
Mama Melrose - lunch
WCC - breakfast
Hollywood Brown Derby - dinner
Tusker House - Lunch
Coral Reef - Dinner

So I'm looking to see which of these restaurants will do the best celebration/surprise for an adult birthday?? Or any advice at all? I'm a little overwhelmed by all the options! :goodvibes

Thanks!
