I looked through the listing of cake photos and didn't see anything with Pooh. Has anyone ever had a Pooh cake made?

Apparently they do not make anything with the Winnie The Pooh characters on it due to licensing. However, my friend told the baker what she wanted and then took a statue of Pooh and piglet with her to place on the cake.

Thank you. I thought I had heard that before but I wasn't sure. Pooh is hubby's favorite so I was hopeful, but he'll be ok with something else. And I don't think we're really going to get a custom cake because it sounds like the smallest you can customize is a 10" and that's just too much for 2 of us.

This cake was $30 from the GF but I've had it be $25 at the Boardwalk bakery before. I think the choices are limited due to it's small size but I might be wrong. I've only ever gotten the vanilla. As for how much there is, some people say it's small but for us it lasts two adults two days. It's 4" round, fairly high for that size with about an 1.5" round top (all thin layers between buttercream). I love sweets but I guess I don't eat as much as some because for me it's a fairly large portion.

Thank you! My only concern with the size of the cake is that we're going to be on the regular dining plan, so we'll already have a dessert! :scared1:

I'm thinking that I'll either order the cake on a day when we pay OOP & we will only order a main course (no dessert!) so we have room for the cake. Or I will order the cake on a day we're heading straight back to our resort...that way, we can take our dessert to go & store it in the fridge so it won't be wasted.

Thank you for the info! I've seen quite a few of those mini cakes posted when browsing this & other threads & I've always seen vanilla. That flavor is fine with me...probably what I would've ordered anyway! If I could get another filling, I'd probably try to but I will just ask when I call. If I can't, no biggie! Vanilla cake/vanilla frosting is fine with us!

Thanks for the prices. I thought I remembered it being around $30 but I couldn't find my notes from last year's vacation! Originally I wanted to order it then, but we spent money on other things so I didn't get the cake. I'm really torn between Cinderella's slipper & the mini wedding cake! The only reason I'm leaning more towards the cake is because I have a little boy. I'm thinking other guests (and maybe even my husband) might not understand why I want a slipper for a boy! LOL But he loves chocolate & this is a treat for him, so I don't know!

Anyway, thanks for the info!!!

The problem I see with this is, you will need to back inside Epcot by 9, when they close, in order to get the bus back to Pop Century. So really, you will have to pick up the cake and walk right back to Epcot. If you are not back there by 9, you will most likely not be able to get back in, to walk to the front entrance to catch your bus.
If by any chance, Hollywood Studios has extra magic evening hours that night, you could take a boat over there and catch the bus back to Pop.

Thank you so much for letting me know about this! We rescheduled our pick-up at 5:00 PM. We're going to sneak away from the birthday boy, pick it up, and take it back to the hotel so when he gets back that night he'll be greeted with his cake and presents! :goodvibes

I am wondering though, does the boardwalk provide utensils, plates, and candles? Or should we bring our own?

Haven't been able to read through this whole thread, but do I just call the main number to get a cake for CRT? It's DD's 5th birthday on our trip. Any help/advice is appreciated!

Yes, unless you want a fancy, fondant-covered cake, in which case you need to call Private Dining at the Contemporary: 407-824-2955

Here's my latest attempt at getting the perfect cake from Disney:

We did an "Old Hollywood"-themed anniversary dinner at Tower of Terror a few weeks ago, and I wanted a cake with a light-up topper because I thought we were going to be seated at the dark end of the terrace there. I found a cake style I liked on Flickr and then dreamed up a sort of "Art Deco light fixture" topper for the bakery to create based on another DISer's Disney wedding cake. However, since my husband wasn't in on this surprise, I had to draw the idea myself—and I have the artistic abilities of a 3-year-old! :rotfl:

As a result, the topper turned out more like a tiara than a wall sconce...

I asked for red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting instead of mousse, cuz I think Disney's mousse is bland. It was pretty tasty for a Disney cake (about like a Publix cake), but I guess frosting isn't as lofty as mousse, so the cake was kinda squat-looking. The good thing about having frosting instead of mousse was that the cake didn't spoil in our suitcase on the trip home the next day, and we were able to eat more of it that week.

Because of the topper, the cake cost $180—too much for a trio of Floralytes jammed into the top behind a 1-dimensional tiara cutout, if you ask me, especially when compared to the amazing fondant topper the GF Bakery created for our first anniversary cake for less money! However, the other decorations were really well done—and hey, @CakeWrecks even said she liked the cake, so what am I complaining about? :lmao:

This cake was made by the Park Events Operation Bakery. I have since investigated whether you can get them to make a cake for a restaurant meal in Hollywood Studios, since they seem to have the ability to do fancier designs than the generic chocolate/chocolate or vanilla/vanilla cakes you get when you call the Cake Hotline. Unfortunately, I was told that the events bakery is separate from the theme park bakery. Apparently the 8-inch and 10-inch cakes you can order for a meal at a DHS restaurant are covered in fondant, but they are not fancy and the only decoration you can add is a screen print. :sad2:

See below... :goodvibes

Thank you, lurkyloo! I will get candles and plates (just in case) then :goodvibes grab the utensils from them and give the birthday boy a great day! You all were such a help in this thread, thanks so much! I'll post a pic of the cake when we go in a couple of weeks!

Does anyone know where the zebra dome like cake is that someone got at AK? I have looked thru the cake index and looked at the whole cake picture thread and can't find it :confused3

Thanks!

Do you get to choose flavor of castle cake? Is there a filling too??

Thinking of ordering for our 10 year anniversay breakfast at CRT...

I thought at first of the slipper but we don't love chocolate enough to really enjoy eating it....What is the thing that I see the slipper served on? It is a cookie or something like that?

Help me decide...Thanks :lovestruc

Ok..so I need a replacement idea for the Mini Surprise cake for my DDprincess: who is 4. we are doing an all-out "Princess Day" starting at BBB and ending at Akershus with the princesses. I wanted to order a cake to be delivered to Akershus. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!

lurkyloo: That cake is beautiful!

They did a great job with the details!:goodvibes

The flavor choices are chocolate with dark chocolate mousse, yellow cake with white chocolate mousse, or cheesecake.

It's a piece of cake.

At Epcot your only choices are chocolate cake with chocolate frosting or vanilla cake with vanilla frosting, and the only customization they can do is a screen print.

We have ordered specialty cakes in the past thru the cake hotline but this year I want to do an animal/safari themed cake and I don't really have any ideas. Does anyone have any pics of anything with this theme and where did you get them? Thanks in advance!! :)

Lurkyloo..thanks for the info on Epcot.

Do you know if you can get the Slipper Cake at Akershus? Was thinking of this as a second option.

Unfortunately, no. The chocolate slipper is available only at the Grand Floridian and Cinderella's Royal Table (and the latter is the only place where it comes on a little square piece of cake).

lurky, it's also available at the contemporary. i ordered it from brian last year with ds's cars cake. i posted pics of it in the thread somewhere. we ate at chef mickeys. not sure if there's a way we can get that out there that it is avail at all 3 places, as i've mentioned it to a few ppl in various threads about the slipper. the cm's one is without the cake.

Thanks for the info! It all makes sense, now that it's been revealed that CR does all the cakes for MK. :thumbsup2

Sorry in advance for all the dumb questions that are about to follow - I'm just a tad overwhelmed.

So, my mother and I will be celebrating my seventeenth birthday in Disneyworld. I was cruising the DIS and looking at cakes when she came over to see. "Oh!" she said. "They'll make birthday cakes?! I should order you a birthday cake!"

Well, needless to say, that was a nice little surprise... But the more I got into it, the more I realized what she meant by "I should order you a birthday cake" was I should do all the work: figure out how to get it, when to order it, where to deliver it to, what size to get, what flavors to get, what decorations, if any to get - and she'd call the number, place the order, and pay for it.

Sooo, I have a handful of questions. Obviously, this is way in advance, so my planning is just in the embryonic stage atm. I know some of these are going to be repeats, and I'm sorry - I'd just really like to know for sure.

Cakes CAN be delivered to you at Cinderella's Royal Table, right? And if not finished, they can be boxed up and taken back to the resort, correct? What size would you recommend for two light eaters, to snack on over the course of about 3 days? And is there anyway I could get a few chocolate covered strawberries added on to a cake that small?

Thank you! Sorry for the hassle. :lovestruc
