Official Disney Cake Chatter - Part V!

CRT is offering the lost slipper dessert. Paging Mr Morrow had a review and it was a couple of months ago (details on page 189).

I was also offered the cupcake trio at BOG just a few weeks ago. I added it to our June 2021 trip. So it could be that just these 2 locations are offering it currently

Yeah I just had an exchange with the special desserts team--the ONLY special dessert they are offering at CRT right now is the lost slipper dessert. You can no longer get that little chocolate mousse cake plate with the chocolate slipper.

It IS served at breakfast (which is when we're getting it)!

BOG definitely still offering the cupcake trio cause we booked that as well.

Yes that slipper is inside the chocolate lost slipper chocolate dome (not to be confused with the dome cakes), just so you know.

@lurkeyloo this thread is too long to read every post lol, do you know if anyone has commented on the taste of these dome cakes? I think they look good and as there are only 4 of us I think this might be a better option than the custom cake just cause my dd that is having the bday isn't really a big regular cake fan. But if they taste terrible then I don't want to do it

I'm also wondering if they will serve these at a breakfast? We have a 10 am bfast at CRT and a 6 pm dinner at BOG the day of her bday and I'm thinking we will be less full at breakfast and since the dinner comes with dessert maybe I should do it in the morning.....

There is no time restriction on when you can order a Mickey Dome Cake. Breakfast is fine!

I have never seen anyone say the dome cakes taste terrible. If your DD is not a regular cake fan, she might like the Mickey Dome Cake. It's more mousse-like inside, and the frosting is sorta that flavorless gelatinous kind. It definitely doesn't taste like a traditional cake like you might get at a wedding or a supermarket.

I left a message with the Contemporary private dining number a few days ago and got a call back on Saturday from chef Brian. He was very nice and said they absolutely can send a cake to Trails End for me to pick up so I'm all good now! I ordered one to look like the one below that somebody else had posted on this forum (I emailed him the pic) but to make it in pink instead of yellow and the castle doesn't need to light up. Ordered an 8 inch choc cake with buttercream frosting and filling. Was quoted $70. I'll let you guys know how it turns out when I get it in March! Thanks for all the help and special thanks to the poster who posted the pic of this cake!!

Although now I'm rethinking the castle lol - the light up does look pretty. Does anybody know how much it costs to make the small 3 inch castle light up?

Our son doesn't really like cake, frosting more so. I was thinking of just ordering a mini cake so he can pick at it if he wanted, but this got me thinking. Any alternatives to traditional cake that can be made, maybe a cookie cake or something else?

You don’t have to do a cake. Mini cake sounds perfect - it’s like 2 cake slices (does have lot of frosting; the darker colors are bitter) as we’ve always had leftovers with the 6 inch cake.

You can do a dessert stroll around MK. He might like the push pops at Sleepy Hollow

Our cake delivery went perfect! It arrived at the Poly on time, and was as advertised. Delicious, and a great birthday surprise for my wife! Though, it was tough to decide between Tonga Toast or cake for breakfast. Cake for breakfast? It is vacation, after all.

Wow that’s an amazing looking cake. Those are the kind of details my cakes in the past had (haunted mansion cake had black flowers) . Which bakery did the cake? How much was it?

Grand Floridian, and it was $165. They delivered it to the front desk, but I picked it up at bell services outside the lobby. It was Cookies and Cream, and sooo good.

Any experience with flavors at Erin McKenna’s. We’ve tried their brownie cupcakes from the QS at Mara (our amazing server at Boma brought them out once as well.) I’m trying to get an allergy free cake. They said they dont Use fondant so will try to make the following with frosting:

Has anyone had any luck at Wilderness Lodge lately? I have been calling for a week during the hours that they say the answer the phone and they never answer. I've left two messages like they indicate and neither has been returned. My party date is next Friday, which is going to be coming up very soon!! Are they maybe not actually taking calls any more but just have an old voicemail on there?

@indylaw99 Call the number for the Contemporary listed in Post #2. They deliver to Wilderness Lodge.
Thanks! Just left a message there. Hopefully will hear back tomorrow. They say they need 72 hours notice and I still have 10 days so hopefully even if I don't hear back until later this week it will work out!

We ordered a cake to be delivered to Steakhouse 71 for my husband's birthday last week. It was churro cake with churro cream made by the Contemporary bakery. The ordering was simple. However, when I showed up the lady at the front desk, when I asked about the cake, said "we have no idea what you are talking about." Kinda rudely to be honest. Of course the cake was there, but maybe SHE didn't know about it, but someone else did. Anyway, it had a white monorail on it and it was delicious.IMG_6944D.jpeg

How much was the cake and size.

I'm starting to get worried. I left a message on the Contemporary line on Tuesday and haven't heard back. I just left another message. They have to be ordered at least 72 hours in advance but they only take calls on weekdays. So if I don't hear back from them soon, I won't be able to get a cake by next Friday. It's kind of a bummer because this is probably the only time my daughter will get to celebrate her actual birthday in Disney. I started by trying Wilderness Lodge for weeks. Now I've been trying Contemporary this week. I'm kind of surprised they don't just have some kind of online ordering system for simple things like they do for room decorations, cupcakes, etc.
