Thank you. I will give that a try tonight. When i have tried to contemporary private dining number posted first it just rings and says “private dining currently unavailable”

i always appreciate your help and knowledge in this thread!

Well i called the resort number and was on hold for half an hour before giving up. I left a message at the contemporary private dining again. If anyone else had luck getting through, let me know how!

Historically the Grand a Floridian could send a cake to Ohana. Do you have any dining booked? Maybe just order with them. They can send it there or in the worst case you can pick it up if you’re staying at the contemporary.

We are staying offsite but eating at Whispering Canyon for my sons birthday with extended family. I could pick it up at the Grand worst case scenario, but we are at Kennedy that day, and plan on going straight to dinner.

I know exactly how you feel unfortunately (3 trips post pandemic). Just talk to the Grand Floridian team and I‘m sure they can give you some options.

Went to Trails End at Fort Wilderness campground last Monday night to pick up the bday cake that I'd ordered from the pastry chef at Contemporary. They didn't have the cake. I was so upset. I stayed polite but I'm sure they could tell how upset I was, my eyes teared up, I get overly emotional when I'm tired and I'd been up at 7 am every day to book the stupid LL regardless of how late we'd been out the night before so I was exhausted.

The manager was extremely apologetic when they couldn't find it and offered the mickey dome cake for free as a replacement. I took it so we'd have something to put her candle on and I thanked him. He took my info and said he'd check into the missing cake.

About an hour later he called to tell me that it was the campgrounds fault, the team that was supposed to pick the cake up from contemporary that morning failed to do so. They were on their way over there right then (at 9:30 at night) to pick it up. About an hour after that the chef from trails end showed up at my camper with my cake! They gave us that for free also to make up for the inconvenience which I though was very nice of them.

So it all worked out and I ended up with two cakes lol

The custom cake was super cute and my dd loved it. It was a 6 inch chocolate cake with buttercream frosting and a white choc castle on top. I was quoted $53 but as stated it was free due to the mixup and lateness of getting it.

Update to my cake ordering saga:

background: I was attempting to order a cake through the Contemporary for next week, was having issues getting a hold of someone. I wasn’t sure if the numbers I was calling were correct, having left a voicemail at two different ones.

After leaving a voicemail at the Contemporary private dining number last night, I received a phonecall from them today. I talked directly to the bakery and was able to successfully order a cake. I believe I spoke with Yvonne. She sounded British, and was delightful to talk to. I ended up ordering an 8 inch, 3 tier vanilla cake with strawberry mousse. It will be topped with fondant and decorated with star wars theme. I told them to go crazy. Cost was $109. Literally half the cost of what the Grand Floridian quoted me last week. I am excited now!! The lady I spoke with was super nice and helpful.

We recently returned from our trip and our cake was delivered with no problems to Le Cellier. Sorry for the quality. It was late and dark! They did a great job with the decorations, even adding some flower and garden elements. Not only was it lovely to look at, but it was delicious! Chocolate with cookies and cream filling.

Has anyone had a custom cake and a fireworks cruise? I’m thinking a cruise at the MK but Epcot would work too. Are you allowed to bring food/drinks? Would I need to pick up the cake? Thanks for any help.

Thanks! It was 8” (half of it fed 6 people with hearty slices, so lots of leftovers). $265.

We got two 6" cakes delivered to our resort for our 6 and 8 year old's birthdays for $130 each and...they're pretty gross. I asked for buttercream outside and inside, but instead they did a buttercream crumb coat and then some weird colored whipped cream frosting on the outside. Also the decorations were just this side of what I could get at a local grocery store. For the money, seriously disappointed. Both kids loved the look of the cakes but wouldn't eat after one bite. Maybe we're just spoiled because I make cakes and we have an AMAZING cake place near us that would've covered it with intricate flowers and an amazing tasting buttercream, but we were left seriously underwhelmed and will not be ordering cakes in the future. For $130 each I really expected maybe a couple of rosettes or swirls on the sides or something. The Belle ball gown one was particularly disappointing decoration wise.
