just a heads up. I just ordered an 8" chocolate cake with chocolate mousse filling with a 2D Elsa image for my daughters birthday from AKL and I was quoted $55 only? why did they quote you so much more?

I asked for fondant. Maybe that's why?

Since Disney bought Marvel, do they decorate with Marvel comic characters?

You'll have to ask the pastry chef at the place making your cake. They also own the Muppets, but when you call, Disney says they can only use a single approved image of the whole Muppet gang. Same with Star Wars.... they're very limited in what they're allowed to do. And Winnie the Pooh is off-limits completely.

Do you have to be in the room when your cake is delivered, specifically at the Polynesian? Because my sister, who the cake is for, probably won't be. And anyone know if delivery/tip is included in the price quoted from the Grand Floridian. I forgot to ask these questions when I ordered the other day.

I specifically asked for ours to be delivered at a time when I knew we'd be out. This was at the Contemporary. Shouldn't be an issue. Just mention it.

I'm sure it's been asked but can't find it, when they delivery your cake do they include a knife/server for cutting or just a plastic knife maybe? What about plates/forks? Grand bakery delivered to Poly. Thank you

We had plates, forks, and a plastic serving knife. It was delivered to our room at the Contemporary.

Those are lovely! Not quite sure what ours will look like since it was a bit hard to tell from the phone convo what they had for decorations. We are getting something with Minnie in a pink dress.

I started getting nervous about what it is going to look like since I kind of left this to the last minute! So I called Boardwalk Bakery and asked them to send me a picture of the Minnie decoration they are putting on the cake. She is perfect!

The cake is chocolate with strawberry filling and white chocolate ganache. They are doing this Minnie on a stand-up white chocolate disk, with matching pink flowers and "happy 21st birthday DD". DD will love it. For reference, here is a pic of DD in the outfit she made and wore to MNSSHP:

Can't wait to see the cake, and will definitely post pics!

I'm getting so many ideas from this thread! Too bad I can only do one cake for this trip! I'm exploring all of our options for a 55th birthday cake for my dad (yoda themed) while we're at WDW. We're staying at SSR and want to have the cake delivered there. I'm getting a quote from boardwalk bakery for a Disney cake, and am talking to someone at It's Tasty Too! tomorrow. Has anyone had experience with It's Tasty Too delivering to the hotel?

They deliver to the hotels all the time, often for couples who are getting married at WDW.

We used It's Tasty Too for our daughter's birthday in May. It was delish and she was super easy to work with! I think the pic is on page 102!

My sister got her cake last night, Haunted Mansion with Hitchhiking Ghosts. I left 2 messages with Pat at the Grand Bakery early last week before a call back the day after the 2nd message. $90 which I was told on the phone would be pre charged to the credit card & it was. It was delivered to her room at the Poly which then there was a $20 room charge (It would have been nice if that was told ahead of time, I was expecting it I guess though so no big deal) Only issue with the cake was the tombstone had the wrong month, it should have been 11/20/15 instead of 10/20/15, oh well. She said it tasted very good. I think It turned out cool, here's the picture she sent. I don't know what the colored round things are on the cake.

Thanks, that was such a cute cake!!

We ended up getting a quote from Boardwalk Bakery that was less than the delivery charge for It's Tasty Too! (Which I was surprised about), so we ordered from them. (Plus, with our brief visit, Disney's delivery process is easier to maneuver)
We're getting it delivered NYD when we arrive so we'll have plenty of time to eat on it during our trip, and it'll be easier to surprise my dad! We're getting a 6 inch vanilla/vanilla with dark blue buttercream, made to look like space, and a yoda quote: "When 900 years old you reach, look as good you will not." They only quoted us the base price, $23. From a good bit of time reading this stream, I think we really lucked out! We're bring a little seated yoda figurine to add to the cake (it's a monitor sitter so he can use it at work afterwards :) ) It definitely won't be as fancy as some I've seen on here, but it'll be perfect for him. I'll post pictures when we get back!

Can someone tell me some information about the Mickey's Delight design?

I don't particularly want fondant. If we had married in one of our home countries (UK or Australia) I would have picked just buttercream in whatever design I selected.

But for our Escape Wedding I want the Mickey's delight and looking at the design I wonder if it is created through fondant.

Anyway...just wondering if it can be achieved with just buttercream or if there will definitely be fondant?

Thanks

Also wondering....
What do people think is the best cake to go with passionfruit mousse? We are getting 2 tiers and one will definitely be the passionfruit. That's the easy part. It's the "cake" part I can't decide....and no I won't be able to do a taste test before. For the record I can't stand red velvet cake...it's way too sickly...but love most of the others. I just don't know the best to balance the passionfruit...

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding. The Mickey's Delight cake is wrapped in fondant so the stamps adhere to the cake. They can't stamp Mickeys onto buttercream. There is always a layer of buttercream under the fondant though if you want to take it off before eating.
