Official Disney Cake Chatter - Part IV! (2012-2016)

I'm ordering my first cake through Disney to surprise my mother in law for her birthday at Disney. I'm planning on having it delivered to our dinner at Olivia's on our arrival night (December 12th) since we're staying at Old Key West Resort. I called the number listed in the first post and left a message yesterday and wanted check how long of a response time I should expect; I don't want to blow up their phone but I want to make sure to get my order in with enough time. Thanks to you all for your wonderful photos and information from this thread, you've inspired me in my ordering!

Depending on how far out you are, you might want to give them a week or so before you call back, and then call at regular intervals of a day or two if you're still getting no answer.

We are back from a truly great trip. I am usually ready to be back home once a vacation is over - but not this time! I'm so excited to have something to post - this thread has been so helpful!

I worked with Pat at GF to have a 6" two-layer cake delivered to our room at Poly on my 40th birthday. Mickey Mouse and I have the same birthday and I'm all about Steamboat Willie. Pat said they had a Steamboat Willie print they could do. I requested marble cake with chocolate mousse filling. She said they couldn't guarantee marble but the cake was marble (well, marble-ish, more in one half of the cake than the other). I wasn't super picky with design, I told her they could do whatever looked fun. At first she mentioned decorating the sides of a cake like wooden panels from a boat, but she asked if I'd be ok if the cake was just black and white. Cost was $54 plus delivery to the room. The woman who delivered it was just delightful.

There were four of us and we ate most of the cake over our stay.

The Steamboat Willie was a screen print on top of milk chocolate with a stick in it - the kids loved it. I lurk way more than I post - so I hope the pictures are formatted ok!

ETA: Please don't use my pictures on other websites without permission. I posted here because Lurkyloo and the wonderful people on this thread have been so helpful.

That turned out great! Love the black & white and how the swirls made it girly without distracting from the image.

I wanted to share a photo of our Lucky cake from Garden Grill a few weeks ago. I don't have a picture of the inside, but it was vanilla buttercream, vanilla cake, and white chocolate mousse. The flowers were sorta edible, but on metal wires. The cake was very tasty. It was a pleasant ordering process ahead of time and the staff at the restaurant were able to keep it a secret until they brought it out. This photo is for disboards.com use only. Use of this photo elsewhere, without permission, is not allowed.

I ended up going with a Frozen themed cake for DD's third birthday. Pictures don't do it justice. It was really beautiful. I ordered it through Amy Jackson at Magic Kingdom cakes. Everything went very smooth even with a change in our dining reservation to an earlier time. Here's the info:

Price: $89.00
Date: 11/12/15
Location: Be Our Guest
Cake Info: 6" chocolate cake with dark chocolate mousse filling and vanilla buttercream frosting. Blue and white fondant with white fondant snowballs around the bottom and on top of the cake, white glittery sugar snowflakes on the cake, frozen characters screen printed on white chocolate and a blue white chocolate 3. The happy birthday message was written on the tray in chocolate.

The celebration was very nice and included a card from The Beast and Belle and a few cast members to sing Happy Birthday. She loved it!

Here's the delicious pluto inspieex cake I ordered from the Contemporary pastry team! It was delivered while we were out in the park. Vanilla buttercream icing over chocolate cake with peanut butter buttercream/chocolate ganache filling. Very good! Was quoted $65 but that was for fondant...i changed to butter cream icing. Ill find out actual cost when i go to the front desk here at BLT tomorrow. Very pleased with the whole process!

But I was wondering can you just order the white chocolate monorail that's been used as a topper to some 10 inch cakes?
I know he'd love that. He LOVES the monorail. But I so don't want to order a cake. As it is we will be eating our wedding cake for a few days.

Otherwise I'm thinking the Choc covered Strawberries that I've seen although I don't know prices.

We'll be dining at Artists Point for his Birthday Dinner.

Cheers

From an email I sent to IPO when I stayed CR Club level earlier this year (asking about the same things)

"The Contemporary Resort offers a white chocolate monorail with gourmet truffles for $40; and a chocolate Mickey with 5 dipped strawberries for $55. Either of these options can be set up with the Private Dining department."

No idea if you can get them at Artist Point, but I hope this helps somewhat.

Already contacted the Contemporary and can get the monorail on its own or with strawberries...they deliver to Artists point

Wanted to share my Mad Hatter mini cake from last week. Could not have been more excited by how it turned out!!

Vanilla cake with vanilla chocolate mousse filling, Mad Hatter green butercream frosting, covered by a layer of fondant. Delivered to 1900 Park Fare breakfast, $50.

My actual birthday is not until March, hence the age I had them put on the hat tag! I only wish I could have timed it to get a picture with both the Mad Hatter AND the Mad Hatter cake :)

Finally got a call back about trying to order a cake through Olivia's and was told that they didn't do custom 6 in cakes and the only thing they could do for me was to reserve a podium cake for me :confused3 This is my first time ordering and I'm confused; does Boardwalk Bakery not do custom 6 inch cakes?

Calling @lurkyloo and any other cake lovers!!!!

I need to order a 5-year anniversary cake to celebrate our DFTW wedding. We will be ordering it from the Grand Floridian and it will be almond cake with amaretto mousse (our wedding cake flavors!). I'm looking for some ideas to pass along to Pat or whoever might be taking cake orders these days. We check into the Villas at the Grand Floridian on November 29, but I'm thinking about having it delivered to us during dinner at Narcoossee's on December 2. Our entire trip will be pretty Christmas-themed with the Candlelight Processional, the Osborne Lights, and MVMCP, so I don't mind sticking with the Christmas theme for the cake. Other suggestions are welcome, too! But I feel like I need to give the bakery some kind of direction. Please help :)

Thanks, everyone!!!!!

I couldn't have been happier with how our anniversary cake turned out! I worked with Pat at the GF and asked for something Christmas-themed and aqua. I had found a few pictures on Pinterest that I was prepared to send her - mostly things with penguins, but I never ended up sending them because once she mentioned the idea of an Olaf cake, I was sold! My husband and kids were super surprised when the cake was delivered to us at Narcoossee's and it was so delicious. The price for this cake was $70.

REQUEST: Please do not re-post these pictures on other sites. Thank you.

BoardWalk Bakery does customize 6-inch cakes, though for certain flavors and designs any bakery on property will tell you that you need to go up to 8 inches. What was your request? Also, was the person you talked to even aware that OKW gets its cakes from BoardWalk Bakery? You might want to try to catch a different CM on the phone...

Love these recent cakes! I'm tempted to order something for the Poly half of our stay from the GF bakery based on these recent orders, but I should stick to just one cake per trip.:)

Also, EllieBride, good idea to request that our photos not be reposted. I rarely post photos on social media, with the limited exception of a few that do not include family members and might be helpful to disboard readers. During a recent google search, I was very surprised to see my photos of my son's birthday cake posted on other sites without permission, or even attributed to lurkyloo's thread.

I have ordered a birthday cake with Pat at the Grand Floridian. I was asking about what flowers I would like and she insisted that I did not have a choice. I wanted more tropical flowers which is what I requested when I had ordered a previous cake for my anniversary. It was no problem then. Why can I not have the type of flower I want now? Price quote is $125. Seems strange

Good point about photo sharing. I added a note to my post, but I would recommend watermarking.

I didn't want to make a big issue out of it last time, but I wasn't too thrilled to see that someone was re-posting my pictures on another Disney website without my permission. I'm hoping that my request will be honored this time :)
