Something About Nothing............ #14

We've been downgraded to 3-5 inches. This is a far cry from the 12+ inches that were predicted earlier this week. I really wish that they couldn't release projected totals so far in advance. It just sends everyone into panic buying. B was exhausted when she got off work last night. Thankfully she doesn't have any more shifts this weekend.

Yesterday I had a late lunch at Chick-fil-A. I overheard 2 women making a grocery list and planning which stores they were going to after lunch. Good luck with that.

Oh so agree with that Mac.

Now saying 17 to 21 inches. I really hope that is wrong. Glad your snow total predicted went down, and is all you get Charade.

Saying a slow moving storm, and was a cold feeling day for sure. That wind chills were bitter feeling. Now saying not going to start until 4 am tomorrow. We have plenty of food, if travel is too dicey tomorrow.

Visited my sister today, instead of our Sunday visits, as last Sunday was that wintery mix and did not feel like traveling in that, so we didn’t visit. And this Sunday, probably not either. Hence, did want to visit, as we are all getting old.

Kid texted they landed about 1/2 hour ago. I hope their luggage comes out fast. Friend is driving them home, as I’m not fond of night time driving anymore. They will be cold, as 17 out now, overnight low is 7 degrees. Hoping that means fluffy snow. ⛄️- maybe will see after the storm.

Crazy this storm came from the Pacific and going to dump snow all the way up to Maine, and dumped ice and snow across the country so far.

Hope all are staying safe and warm this stormy weather weekend.

I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again

Some blessed free time due to hunkering down during the storm. I announced on Friday evening that I wouldn’t be leaving the house until mid week lol. Looking forward to a break.

Speaking of…

Doing a bucket list one day, back & forth to WDW on Saturday. My DiL & GD deemed it a “bucket list challenge”.

Yeah, what they said. Catching a 5 am flight, ubering to MGM, then onto Epcot for FARTS. Fingers crossed Spirit shows up to retrieve us @ 9 pm.

It will be an adventure they said :earseek:

The mr declined. Took him all of a few days to request I find somewhere @ the inns to stay a few nights to close out said festival. It’s his favorite as so low key & we always come back home with some sort of artwork.

Thankful said mr insists on handling taking our snow dog outside, hails from Cuba - loves the cold and snow, go figure. He also does all the shoveling. In my defense, I did buy him a snow blower a few years ago. He only used a couple of times, prefers using his leaf blower (when it’s the fluffy stuff) and a good, old-fashioned snow shovel otherwise. He’s been out every two hours since we woke up.

A good 6 inches on ground, far. They are saying another 6 to 8, over achieving :p.

Hehe, phone just flashed a BK announcement that it’s whopper Wednesday deal
Just saw a commercial on the tube. How is it the food stylists make their burgers look mouth drooling, when the real deal we have here I wouldn’t feed to said snow dog.

If you have the walmart plus, one of the perks is a free burger now & again. We’ve never bothered to collect that one. They do also have free ad included paramount & peacock streaming. We get paramount free already thru DTV for being long-term customers. The peacock, we upgrade to have ad-free, think it’s another $6 a month. May just drop it down to the WM included one as generally only watch traitors on it.

Sounds like your kiddos had a lovely trip. They must be doing well in their careers to work in a two week trip! Woohoo
Spent 3.5 hours at the ER. It was not another heart attack. However, they said he had an inflamed esophagus and they found a small hiatal hernia. He was released with instructions to follow up with a gastroenterologist.
Oh no, that’s awful. Sorry you all had to go thru that. Curious, has he been diagnosed with GERD in the past? Could be contributing to issue, especially eating vacation indulgent sort of food.

What’s funny, so many people have small hernias and never know. They found a hiatal one on me recently when I had the liver infection after the flu. Said, if it’s not bothering me nor impinging into any organ, no worries. Then said they found one near where my gallbladder used to live too lol. A two-fer! Lol

Nice your DD got to enjoy Epic. A BD visit sounds very fun.
would like to attend this festival sometime. I have only been to the flower and garden one
The mr declined joining the girls on our ‘challenge’. Took him all of a few days to request I find somewhere @ the inns to stay a few nights to close out said festival. Justifying it as an anniversary present lol.

Spirit’s rates are back to almost paying the passengers to fly. Do hope they don’t go completely belly up bankrupt by the end of Feb. I’m quite leery of booking them into their next fiscal quarter tho, a shame if we do lose that only other NS option to MCO from our market. Well, other than Allegiant who only does a couple flights a week to each destination.

Disney booked to the max in February, even for a few days mid-week! Was shocked TBH. Took me better part of a day to find a PH rate, only hotel was Sports. It will do fine for a few days. Will keep looking for cancellations tho.

FARTS is his favorite as so low key, the food has been the best out of all the festivals & we always come back home with some sort of artwork.
I took advantage of the last Sam's club deal where you could get $200 gift cards for $180.

We had a 7:00 dinner reservation at The Blue Dragon. Dh had an entree, B and I split and entree, and the 3 of us shared 3 small plates. It was all very good and we had the best waiter. I think we will go there again in November for B's birthday.
Nice to hear BD was good. What did you get? Those pancake dumplings looked interesting online. I’d absoutely not go back to the seafood one. Very pretty inside but portions minuscule & ridiculously overpriced
I will be glad to when our weather improves…very tired of cold weather…
Haha are we talking southern or northern cold? JK know you earned your chops & then some. Has to be a real shocker for the southern folks and communities when dealing with a substantial cold snap, ice & snow.

Have heard from some who are enjoying getting outside and

:duck:

Stay warm all and find somebody/thing to cuddle.

Ugh, 7 inches of snow and has been freezing rain or sleet banging into our windows for the last 2 hours. Ugh. No need to go out today. Maybe even tomorrow. It’s 23 degrees out, so how it’s freezing rain and/or sleet is crazy to me. But either way a wind chill, feel like 3 degrees out there, it’s a nope for me to even venture outside. Sigh.

Me too,Keisha, should have been like my grandparents, and leave my kids to fend for themselves, and move to Miami so many years ago.

But hey, I live where I can complain about the cold half of the year, and the muggy heat the other half.

Of all those Disney festivals at Epcot, I do like the FARTS the best too. I love browsing through all the art, and snacking with yeah, the best of the food carts there at that time.

Funny, as my labs and my boxer loved the snow to play in. Even when the boxer was shivering, she was hard to bring into the house. Labs were built for cold weather.

Sounds like a fun, exciting and exhausting day trip, Keisha, next Saturday. Hope your flights both go as planned. I’m hesitant to book those bargain airlines. Always seem to be a flight away from going under and stranding people.

Started looking at American, as SW decided to raise their prices so much higher, to make me want to switch. Kids switched to American to go to CA next month. Don’t blame them, almost the same price as SW, and SW does not offer any direct flights to CA airports from ours, and American offers 4 or more direct flights to LA the days the wanted to fly out and back. Same with FLA ones. While I can always find a SW direct flights roundtrip, but most of the time it’s one or once in a while, maybe two on the days I want to go, and have to take the time those flights are. American, has so many direct flights every single day. No need to book that crack of dawn trip, or a morning go back flight. Mid morning down, and evening flights back are my preferred times. Sad to say, as we had been so happy to see SW enter our city airport’s list of airlines. Not anymore do we prefer SW.

Ah, the first day of the last week in January. Yep, if ever a Sunday to be a lazy one, it’s today. Still sleeting/freezing rain. Pelting against our windows. Sigh. But hey every day, a day closer to the first day of summer.

Woot! Will spend Mother’s Day warmer than at home. So there’s that to look forward to. But checking two months from now, as trying to decide if I want to enjoy Mardi Gras again there, this year too. So, two spring trips. Hmmmm.

Hope all are having a good and warm Sunday.

As my oldest niece said, it’s sunny where she is. Slacker. lol

Well, we’ve given up trying to keep up with the snowfall. Mr going to wait until after the 1st FB game and give it another go.

My car has been plowed in, looks like a misshapen snowball. Single digits most of this week, will probably turn into an igloo & we will see it in the spring. Just put in a new battery last week, good test for it I guess. Sigh.

What’s funny with the pooch is he loves the snow. This snowfall, now nearly as tall as his back. Still supposed to get a good amount more. He was quite happy when a path was shoveled for him to go out and take care of business. Can’t imagine plowing thru show up to my chin to pee lol

Yes, it’s a crapshoot on spirit for sure. They do keep pulling out of it, nine lives. Allegiant has improved, reliable, just few flights offered. Breeze new to our city. Doesn’t fly to MCO tho.

So your kids heading out to CA soon too! Very cool. The only airline aside from Spirit, NS to LAS will be AA (starting this spring). We’ve been happy enough to stop over for 2 nights in LAS. Just don’t want to be forced to do it both ways.

Reviews on Breeze seemreally super iffy, in same bucket as Frontier; I just can’t. Had a friend jokingly describe Frontier as lawn chairs bolted down for seats.

Yeah, the only time I flew Frontier, Keisha, was with my sister, from the little airport near her to Myrtle Beach and back. Way down almost on time, but people had to switch their bought seats to other seats to balance the airplane. Then, on the way back, we were delayed 5 hours. We were glad it actually did fly then, as if was cancelled, the next one was 3 days later. We had to make our time there, based on which day they came and went. Never again, would I try them, I don’t think.

Kids complained around 4, this afternoon, that no township plow has gone by our street or the main road we exit and enter from. Heard the plow go by a half hour ago. I guess we will dig out my car parked in the street and make a path to pull out of our driveway tomorrow instead of tonight.

Kids wanted to snack for dinner, so made mac and cheese and hotdogs to add to it. Then little one made her tomato salsa, and had chips to go with.

All just chilling on my DH’s birthday, as well as my nephew’s wife’s birthday today too. He wanted the hotdogs, and none of us are cake fans, so tastsykakes were the candle holders, and happy birthday sung by us. Nice thing is, my siblings all called him to wish him a happy birthday. He’s not one to make a big fuss on his birthday.

Lazy, calm weekend. And poor older one fell sick when he came home yesterday. Heard flu was rampant in the Disney area. Good thing we have strong cold medicine and extra boxes of tissues. And hope the rest of us don’t get his sickness.

Yay, Storm should be out of here later tonight. Then a very cool week, as don’t even see a 30 until the following week Monday. Teens for the next 4 days, 19, with a low 3 degrees overnight Saturday into Sunday predicted. Little brr from me. Sigh, with this cool temps, that icy snow won’t disappear any time soon.

Good morning and happy Monday. All is well in the Charade house. None of us are leaving the house today. B is scheduled to work, but our driveway is a sheet of ice and our road isn't much better. She called out a little while ago. She drives a Honda Fit which is not capable of handling this weather.

Last week I went to Lowes and bought several jugs of ice melt. Dh completely forgot to put it on our driveway before the storm. I think we may have gotten about 3 inches, but some of that is ice. Later today our lawn guy (neighborhood teen boy) is supposed to come over and shovel our driveway. The last time it snowed he came over and did it for free, but dh is going to pay him this time.

I announced on Friday evening that I wouldn’t be leaving the house until mid week lol.
Same. I may not even leave until next week.

I'm not sure if you are brave or insane. I don't think I have the stamina to do that.

Curious, has he been diagnosed with GERD in the past? Could be contributing to issue, especially eating vacation indulgent sort of food.
No previous diagnosis. My guess is it's from the food he has been eating.

Nice to hear BD was good. What did you get?
B and I split the orange chicken. Dh had the dragon fried rice. We all split the spring rolls, potstickers, and pork dumplings. We enjoyed all of it.

Started looking at American, as SW decided to raise their prices so much higher
American is the airline I fly. Right now it's the only airline that serves my local airport, although we are supposed to be getting United soon. I also have their flight miles credit card. I haven't paid for a flight in almost 5 years.

All just chilling on my DH’s birthday
Happy belated birthday to him.

Then a very cool week, as don’t even see a 30 until the following week Monday
We are supposed to get up to 33 tomorrow, but then stay below freezing until next Monday. This snow and ice will be with us for a while and we may get more snow on Saturday.

I doubt I will be going in to work this week. I will stay home and do more cross stitching. I am almost 3/5 finished with my current project.
