You could see if they'd do an Alice in Wonderland cupcake like one of these... or adapt it to a minicake if they refuse to do individual cupcakes:

Oh my gosh Lurkyloo, those are perfect - the pirate chest, too! Thank you! I know I've seen those images on these threads, but somehow seeing them together here helps gel what it is I'm looking for! Yay! Hungry for cake now.

Update on MK jack skellington mini cake order. They don't do chocolate frosting on mini cakes so they are doing vanilla frosting with spiderwebs and pumpkin decorations with a 2d jack on the side of the cake for 50$. 15$ extra just for jack is worth it to me lol

Ooooooo I really want one of those Jedi mickey toppers for my son's cake - will these be readily available to order now and how likely is it that whoever I talk to at the contemporary will know what I'm talking about if I ask for one? I need to order the cake next week.

Thanks

I called the Swan today to order my cake for November! I talked to Brian in the Swan Bakery and I am getting an Intense Chocolate Cake and I am having them write something on it to do with the 5K Jingle Jungle. I am taking it to dinner at a friends house the night we arrive. There are 8 of us and it is going to be a surprise! Can't wait to see it!! :)

Could they recreate the top of my cake? Just a square cake. I did not get married at disney. Has anyone tried this? We are celebrating our one year and I'm not sure how our frozen cake top will taste.

It will probably taste like crud. Mine did (so has every other one that I have tasted). And, nobody could have wrapped it better than my dad did. Get a new cake to celebrate!!!

We got a haunted mansion mini last year to celebrate our anniversary. It tasted great. I did go safe and do yellow cake with buttercream and white chocolate mousse. For our 15 I want to branch out on flavors. I am thinking lemon cake with blueberry filling and lemon frosting. Anyone else used that combo?

This is NOT my cake by I saw it and had to repost it here! I think it's amazing!
Villain mini two-tier cake made by the GF bakery, with modeling chocolate Maleficent horns!

Edit. This is AMAZING! I left a message for Patrica Anderson and excited to see what I could do for my custom Ariel mini cake!!!

This cake is amazing! I wish I'd seen it before ordering a 6" cake from AKL for dinner at Jiko; I'd TOTALLY have ordered this for our meal at Kona instead!

What was the price on this, and how recently did you order it?

I have a question about ordering from the Boardwalk Bakery. I have always ordered from the GF and Pat and they have made some amazing cakes. Our last one was a Nemo themed cake and even had a little Nemo sugar figure on it. This time I was wanting to step up the Nemo cake, but make it a Crush cake , since my god child and I both love turtles. But here is where my question arises, The Boardwalk Bakery pastry chef I spoke with yesterday told me that they cannot to character images unless they are a screen print on the cake or a flat piece of chocolate. They said they can do the few chocolate statues, but nothing else. First she told me it was due to allergies and then she told me it was due to them not having the rights to do Disney characters. I am really confused about not being able to do Disney character cakes. I would order through the GF again, but we are not eating at one of their restaurants this trip. So can anyone tell me if she was correct? Has anyone had a cake done with characters on the cake?

That villans cake is amazing! Thanks for posting it - so helpful to see just what they can do with a mini-cake!

I think your chances are good! I'd call now though just so you have time in case they need to, like, get the mold from the GF or whatever.

I hope you'll share a photo here when you get it. We've never had a Swan & Dolphin cake posted here before!

Yes! Exactly what HeidiGW said. Send them a photo and they'll have no trouble re-creating it.

OK, so the real reason is that Disney doesn't want a chef creating a character image that's off-model and then it ending up on Cake Wrecks or wherever. To control that, they've started prohibiting anything but screen prints with approved images or those white chocolate figures, which take months and months to get approved to ensure they too are on-model. The standing white chocolate pieces with screen prints aren't horrible, but I know it's a bummer not to be able to get a molded Nemo. Could you bring small toys and have them leave room to put those on top of the cake?

@Leebee - I didn't order this cake so I don't know how much it was! I know two-tier mini cakes start at $35 but with the addition of the fondant I would say this would probably be closer to $50? Lurkyloo would know more about the prices, she's the expert!

Thanks lurkyloo,

Difficult to call them as I'm in the Uk so I've dropped them an e mail - hope I get a response soon.

I'm in the process of reading this thread, but it will likely take a long time. We are off to WDW in November and will arrive 3 days after my son's birthday. We are spending time there with both of my (long divorced) parents, their spouses and my sister, but only one meal with everyone, a Cape May breakfast.

I know it's not the normal time for a cake, but can we get one then? And does anyone know what options there are for Phineas and Ferb cakes, if any? They are his favourite disney characters, though he also really likes Stitch and what will be 9 year old boy could turn down Jedi Mickey?

I should add, I am assuming that both Atlantis and Black Cauldron themes would be difficult to get. Trust my boy to love the movies no one else did.

You can get a cake delivered at any time of day. Call the number in Post #1 for Yacht & Beach Club private dining to see what kinds of screen prints they have available for those movies/characters. Or you could take a more interpretive approach, like getting a cake shaped like a cauldron ($$$) or decorated with fondant/sugar objects that go with an Atlantis theme or Black Cauldron theme. I just Googled "atlantis movie cake" and found plenty of photos you could send the pastry team. :thumbsup2

Talked to Pat at the GF bakery about the Maleficent Mini Cake. She said that the cake topper you see and the other add ons are from Etsy. I had previously spoke with Chef Brian through email about my custom mini cake so I just placed my order at the Contemporary.

I already have 2 cakes ordered for our Oct./Nov. trip, but I really would like to also order an Olaf cake.

Has anyone gotten an Olaf cake? If so, can you please share pix?

Thanks!!
