I just wanted to share the mini tier cake and strawberries that I ordered for my DH last week. I actually only ordered a half dozen strawberries, but as you can see, we received a whole dozen +1. I'm not sure if we were charged for all of them or not, but the total charge was $84.12, so I'm thinking that maybe we were, which is totally fine.

The cake was vanilla and I honestly cannot remember the filling but it was beyond what I imagined! It was so moist and the filling was just perfect! Definitely worth every penny! I'd do it again in a heartbeat!

And here's a better view of the cake:

Where did you order the strawberries from? and where did you have them delivered?

This is something we will miss as we get them at DLR (sent to our room at night with champagne, and other nights fresh cookies and milk!) but when I called WDW they said no one did them !

So I would love to know as we are leaving next week !
They look delish! thanks for sharing!

When I stayed in the Grand Flo someone sent me cookies and milk! It was AMAZING!!!

I asked when I ordered the cake if I could get the strawberries, too, and she said yes. They were delivered to our room at the Villas at the Grand.

I think you should be able to call Private Dining to get the strawberries if you aren't ordering a cake.

Just back from a whirlwind long weekend trip (fri and sun MNSSHP), and posting some pics of the cake from dh's birthday (he's been in Afghanistan or the desert training 6 of the last 7 years on his birthday so this year we went big!)

8 inch yellow/chocolate marble cake, choc mousse filling, and buttercream frosting delivered at Crystal Palace for dinner. Price was $130. Cake was very moist and flavorful, we put it in a locker after dinner, in the resort fridge overnight, a cooler for the 10+ hour drive home, then the fridge at home, and leftovers are still just as good (perhaps helped by a scoop of ice cream on top?).

the black flowers looked better IRL and made our teeth look dark and nasty, perfect for the Halloween party lol. It says Happy Haunted Birthday.

the kids said the fondant tasted like licorice, I did not try it. Still have a few pieces in the fridge, maybe I will try a bite tonight.

Anyone knows where I can see pictures of Minnie Mouse cakes (Mini 2-tiers cake) for my daughter's 3rd birthday that we will celebrate at WDW to give me ideas of what it would look like?

The one I posted on the last page is a mini two-tier.

Thank you for sharing! For a Minnie Mouse cake, would the chocolate piece (unless it's fondant?) on top would be different? Would it have a bow? Was it buttercream or fondant? How much was just the cake without the strawberries?

You're most welcome. I'm thinking that maybe they could change the colors of the cake to make it more "Minnie-ish". I'm not sure about the ears on top...they were actually chocolate. The icing was buttercream and SO delicious. I don't know what the total for the cake was after taxes, gratuity and delivery fee, but I know that I was quoted $35 over the phone.

I recently surprised my wife with a Maleficent themed cake for her birthday dinner at Narcoossee's in August. I started the process of cake ordering roughly 4 weeks before our dinner ADR. Since we were dining at GF I called the bakery directly and talked with Pat Anderson. It took a little while for her to get back to my voice mail, but once we were able to talk in person, the process went smoothly.

My wife loves Maleficent, and the color purple, so it was a no-brainer to design a cake around her favorite villain. As it was going to be a cake for two, I asked for a 6" cake and Pat offered up some great design ideas. I had a pretty specific design in mind. I wanted a purple fondant covered cake with Maleficent horns and writing that said "Happy Birthday Michelle". Those were the only "instructions" that I offered up.

The cake was a huge hit with my wife. It was beautifully designed and EXACTLY as I had imagined it. I truthfully wasn't expecting some grand cake as I was only charged $68, but this cake was above and beyond anything I would have guessed.

The staff at Narcoosee's were equally impressed, and at one point the night's manager came over to let us know how excited they all were to see the cake when it was delivered. He told us that they had never seen a maleficent cake like ours before.

The cake was brought out and picture taking ensued. However, both of us somehow forgot to bring our cameras with us! We had to take some cell phone pics on the spot, and took some better pictures once we got back to the hotel. We had it boxed up after we took some slices out, and transported it back to our resort. The staff at Narcoossee's was willing to box it up and store it in their fridge until we got back from our night at HS, but we didn't want to have to make a special trip back to GF that night, so we decided to hand carry it via taxi back to AKL before hitting the parks.

And if anyone was curious, the cake, plus horns, plus the base fit in the mini fridge!

Overall, the birthday cake experience was definitely worth it.

Here's the info for those interested:

Price - $68.00 Cost added to our Narcoossee's bill.
Date Received - Aug. 25th 2014
Location - Narcoosee's
Cake info - Purple fondant over chocolate cake with chocolate filling. It was one of the standard flavors offered. I didn't ask for anything special. My wife bit into one of the horns and said it tasted like a tootsie roll, so I'm guessing the horns had to be some kind of stiff tootsie roll material with molded chocolate.

The fondant is smooth, but there is a bit of "sweating" that's causing the bubbly texture.

The picture isn't very appetizing, but it shows the layers in the cake. There were three sets of white sticks that were pushed into the cake that held up the horns.

It fits!

I wanted to follow up my husband's post with a cell phone pic from the restaurant. This was the best birthday ever, and I don't think future birthdays will ever top this one. We're from Colorado, so it's not like I can go to WDW for my Birthday every year. (Even though I would love to!!!)

What a way to ring in my 35th birthday. I was so emotional when our waiter brought out my cake. At first I was all smiles, but once the waiter took my cake to the back to cut a few slices out, the tears came. Ugh, I always cry at Disney World! Happy tears, of course. This cake was so amazing and my husband made me feel so special.

A huge thanks to the Grand Floridian Bakery for creating Disney magic with this cake! Thank you for putting so much detail into my favorite villain. Never before has a cake made me cry, because it was so spectacular! Celebrating my birthday at WDW has always been a dream of mine, and not only did I get to do it, but the whole dinner and birthday cake celebration was more special than I could have ever imagined. LOVED IT!!

I told my husband next year, I just want cheesecake for my B-Day. I never want another cake unless it's a duplicate of this Maleficent cake!

So sorry, but I can't remember the name of our waiter. I meant to keep the receipt or write down his name, but I forgot. Even so, I want to send out a huge thanks to our waiter for a wonderful dining experience, and for taking the picture below! (also thanks for the extra birthday treats!!)

Birthday celebration at Narcoossee's! Platter of birthday nibbles and cake

Six years ago my daughter got engaged at WDW and we ordered a cake from Jiko where we had a dinner to celebrate. We were not thrilled, tasted blah and was not impressed at all. Hopefully things have improved. Is it better to order from a specific resort?

Page 8 of this thread has a pic of a princess Minnie mini cake. They could probably pipe a buttercream bow or use fondant on the mini chocolate Mickey ears on the other cake to make it Minnie.

Hi, Cake Folk! I have been debating for awhile about where to have my DD's birthday cake served while on our trip, what to order, etc. I think I want to have it delivered to Jiko on 10/12 when we have her birthday dinner there, and I've figured out pretty much what I want, so I'll call on Monday (unless someone knows the pastry chef is off on MOnday) and place my order. DD's real 21st birthday is this Tuesday, and I've been wracking my brain as to what to make for a cake here at home, and then it hit me! I'd originally considered a tie-dyed cheesecake from POP for her birthday cake at WDW, but they don' take them the "real" way anymore, so scratched that idea. However, THAT is what I am going to make for her birthday cake here at home on Tuesday!! I've already baked the red velvet cake crust and have the Disney recipe for the rest of the cake. I am so freaking psyched about this, and proud of myself for having thought of it!! I will let you all know how it turns out, and also how it goes when I order her Jiko cake from AKL!

Hey there, I was wondering if anyone has used the public email address for the Contemporary to order their cake? Would it be better to call first?

Also, any one tried the raspberry mousse filling before? Thanks!

WDW.Contemporary.Cake.Order@disney.com is the one I used in February. We didn't have the raspberry, but we did have the strawberry and it was nice.

I ordered a red velvet cake from AKL last month, and it was delicious. They have a real live pastry chef there now :thumbsup2

Where did you order this cake from?

Cakes for all the MK locations come from the Contemporary, but you have to place your order through the Magic Kingdom Cake Hotline. All the info is in Post #2 of this thread.

Just in case this info is helpful to anyone, I am in the process of ordering a cake for a dinner in a few weeks at Liberty Tree Tavern in MK. "This is available in chocolate or vanilla and usually serves just 1-2 people. We can decorate this with either Mickey Ears, Princess Minnie Ears or flowers in the color of your choice and it can be personalized with up to 4 words. The cost is $35.00 plus tax and gratuity.
