*~~Official December 2016 Thread~~*

How many days are you at now?

Awe talking Mickey sounds so cute. I hadn't read anything about what he says before. I love the stuff you read. He's now on our must list. Plus I think a talking Mickey would go over well with my dd. Like maybe he'd be less scary.

Going to 2 parades sounds like a good idea. Especially if there's not a replacement for MSEP. I think we'll have to go to the first one because my kids might not last till the 2nd.

It seems weird that they only added the Star Wars desert part for a few dates. There's no chance they're getting rid of those fireworks right? Eeek. Maybe they just aren't sure how the dessert parties will go?

I'm 99% sure they'll extend it, they do this sometimes with the parties for whatever reason. I've been through this with Wishes parties before, and it's just a pain. My original thought was they were waiting because they were going to maybe do something special or different for the holidays, but now that the dates are into October, I don't think that's the case. They're just doing their normal weirdo withholding thing. It's annoying, but I have a feeling it lessens the load of people trying to reserve all at once since it's so limited on space. At least that's what I tell myself in order to make sense of it!

Just a Monday thought...

Is anyone going to be sporting a variation of the "Lime Green Mickey Head?" BDLsgal and I have worn laminated versions (post card sized) on my back pack the past few trips, and had 8"x11" LGMH's displayed in our room windows, with our screen names, in the hopes of meeting fellow DIS'ers.

For those that don't know, there was a tradition of DIS'ers affixing, on their person, one of those paint sample cards from Home Depot, from a Disney collection of paint colors. The lime green sample card. And this was the way the DIS'ers could identify each other at the parks. In recent years, they have since gotten rid of the sample cards, but people have gotten creative.

BDLsgal and I will still be sporting ours, I was just wondering if anyone else will be.

Ive been following this thread about the Christmas party. I'm hoping that when people come back, they will give tips. http://www.disboards.com/threads/of...ickey-christmas.3476594/page-52#post-56283652

Having gone a few times in the past, the best advice I can give, prioritize. If there are multiple incarnations of a show(s), you want to see, later ones are usually thinner, if you can make it. Also, prioritize which MnG's are the must haves.

This is a cute clip of the talking Mickey. :)

I'd like to borrow that philosophy! It does make sense and it makes the waiting game (slightly) more bearable to think of it that way. :)

The great ideas and creativity on this board amaze me. How fun!! I would love to do this! :)

This was posted in the Cancelled ADR thread, over the weekend if anyone wants it...

I have a Dec. 7 Hoop Dee-Doo Ruvue at 4pm (category 1) for a party of 5 to cancel. PM if anyone wants it. If not I will cancel Monday night.

Good luck.

Is anyone going to be sporting a variation of the "Lime Green Mickey Head?" .

I got crafty and made a glittery canvasy type fabric one on our last trip that didn't draw any Dis-ers my way, but I'll probably break it out again for this trip...at least on party night.

Hi all! Poking my head in--we're heading down December 4-10 and staying at Coronado Springs!

I'm beyond excited. The last time I went was for DH and my honeymoon back in 2011, and that was in late May, so it was HOT (or at least so it felt to my thick New England blood). I've been during the holiday season before, but that was about ~20 years ago, so I'm looking forward to going again and seeing what's changed and what's exactly as I remember.

I have heard of others doing this in the past. I will try to remember to do when we are there, especially party night because we will be at the same party as you!

I've heard of people doing the green Mickey heads. I've only ever seen someone with it once. It was last May while waiting for our Via Napoli reservation. I didn't talk to the person but I thought it was cool to see one!

@Rickat96 Thanks for the 2015 MVMCP map.

I hadn't heard of the lime green Mickey head until now. I'll add that on my things to do list. My mickey head won't be creative.

I'm seriously considering the Star Wars Dessert party. I didn't realize it would start at 6:30 and that the SW fireworks are much earlier than Illimunations and Wishes. My kids would definitely stay up for this one so that's not an issue. Now I just need to get dh on board.

Hello! So, my kids were asking if their Elves would be following them to WDW. I wasn't planning on it, but they were getting SO excited thinking about it. Are any of you planning on Elves at Disney? If so, do you have any cute ideas to share?

Oh dear! I hadn't even thought about this. I can imagine that once our Elf goes up after Thanksgiving my daughter will ask this question. I can't even imagine dragging the elf around and stealthily trying to accommodate it every day in a different spot within our hotel room (and making sure Housekeeping doesn't even mess with it). I might have to make up a story about the Elf not wanting to travel to such a warm climate, or only having a direct link to our house. Maybe my kids would take it as a license to misbehave on our trip since Santa won't be getting "reports." LOL!

I was not planning on it...but their excitement may have changed my mind. My husband, on the other hand, says no elf!!

I'm sure my husband would say no way too! I think the Elf will just be too much for me to manage on top of our trip. This is the first trip for our kids to Disney, and will will also be celebrating my daughter's 5th birthday while there. I am hoping they will be just too consumed with the excitement of Disney and forget about our Elf for a week!

Ugh the elf. I hate a love/hate relationship with that guy. I love him for about a week and then I can't wait to put him away. I'm horrible at moving him. And my son almost caught me like 3 times last year. His butt will be staying home. I'm going to use him as my Disney announcement and make up something like the Elf needs to go to the NP to help Santa get ready for Christmas so he can't join us on vacation. I have read a few posts about mousekeeping moving your elf for you but of course that's not guaranteed it was just those particular mousekeepers.

I just read the easywdw review on the Star Wars dessert party and I really want to do it now. DH isn't really feeling it. Well he doesn't think it's worth the money. But he also said it's up to me. His sister is going to WDW next week so I'm interested to hear what she says about the fireworks. She's not doing the party and I've heard it's really hard to get a good spot unless you're super early. I have a friend that is also going at the end of the month and she's doing the party with her son. Can't wait to hear what she says. When it comes out, I'm going to book it so I at least have it and if we decide to cancel it later then that's fine too. I think my son would really love it and we're doing a lot of character meals for my daughter so it'd be nice for him to be able to do this. She likes Star Wars too so she'll enjoy it also.

I'm pretty stoked about the Star Wars fireworks dessert party! Would you mind sharing what your friend has to say about it after they go? :-) I've also read reviews about not getting a good spot unless you're super early, but the fireworks definitely sound really amazing!

Do you all think there will be the Star Wars fireworks in December? I can't seem to tell from the Disney website. I only see them scheduled through September. Is it just a summertime thing, or do you all think they will continue them through the fall and winter?
