i would like to try priceline, but have been told not all their companies have free spouses as drivers (thanks robinb)....at least we know budget won't charge for DH to drive. made that ressie through http://www.carrentalsavers.com/florida-car-rental.html
and their rates still seem good to me. of course i keep checking to see if they'll go down, but it's holding tight for a minivan at $225 for 8 days (12/16-12/24) plus taxes = $358. i couldn't figure out how to get an entertainment coupon added, but ended up calling budget directly and the operator applied the coupon for me.

I am renting a suv for 2 weeks with budget $225 a week x 2 = $450 plus $137.98 tax & fees Grand total $587.98.

A lot cheaper then paying $1300 - $1600 w/ tax & fees thru the other car rentals.

forgot to say, I applied all coupons to this ressies and i couldnt get the coupon to come off the total. I may call budget or bring the coupon with me.

With Budget, coupons are applied at the counter. Unfortunately you can not get it to come off the rate like with Alamo.

We book using Priceline name your own price. We got a midsize car for our trip Nov 30th-Dec 12th 2010 for $11 per day.(we are happy with the price) We got Hertz as our company. With Tax it was $234.34 (they say we saved $679.34 off of what the car woudl go for on the Hertz site)

I just rebooked my Alamo ressie from 12/3 to 12/14 for a savings of $44.

It looks like car rentals prior to 12/17 are coming down A LOT. Our flight gets in late on 12/16 and it is worth it for us to pick a car up late that night and pay for the extra day rather than waiting for the next day to pick the car up. The weekly rate more than doubles for pick-ups on 12/17!
