Official death party?

I would find it distasteful. If I were a refugee, I would let my freedon be the celebration.

This is sad. This shows that this world is messed up. Or at least Miami is.

Far more important things to spend money on.....

I agree! The western world found it to be extremely distasteful when arabs danced out in the streets and celebrated on 9/11. I can´t see how this would be any different.

I'm not exactly sure how I feel about this. I know that "every man's death is an island" and all, and it's definitely unfortunate that people want to celebrate a death - but there are special circumstances in this "party".

I think it's more of a "ding dong the witch is dead" thing - and for them has to do more with the end of a really sad, terrifying era than anything - only it probably isn't because his brother will be no different. But maybe not - who knows? I guess this a little hope for some people that families could be united and homes restored....:confused3 . I don't like it but I didn't live it.

9/11 innocent people were murdered. It's a little different. I'm not justifying it - ust trying to understand how people feel.

Castro death is from natural causes. 9/11 was murder. What don't you understand?:confused3

So deaths of natural causes should be celebrated? I don´t care whether a death is because of murder or old age. Death should in my opinion never be celebrated. Now if the person who died had suffered tremendously in life and was happy to die, it might be another story, but in Castros case I don´t think that is ours to judge.

I saw this on the news last night and thought why???

Hopefully you can put that money to better use like maybe getting families out of Cuba who would like to leave to join their families here in the US...

Call me crazy, but if you need to celebrate his death because he was so evil, do it in the privacy of your home....a public display is in such poor taste.. I would hope that people could rise above that kind of behavior in this country....but what do I know..

My thoughts exactly.

Please don't misunderstand - I'm not arguing with you. It's just that I don't feel the emotions of all those Cubans who have been ruined by Castro are mine to judge either.

This is something that is sad - unfortunate - yes, but not something that I choose to get outraged by. Let them have their party - maybe it's something they just really need to do.

I´m not saying they shouldn´t be allowed to party in private. But an official party? That´s a whole other story...

:confused3 I don't see why. They want to make this statement to the world - shout it out - it's not how I would react (at least I don't think so - who knows how I'd feel in their place) , but again, not my emotions to judge.

"They" in this case is the city of Miami. That means an US city wants to shout out how happy they are that the Head of State of a neighbouring country is dead. If I lived in the US I would have a problem with that.

You poor misguided soul. Some people just never get it.:confused3

If the city is planning this party then the taxpayers are footing the bill for security, cleanup, etc. Taxpayers who may not choose to participate, who may not agree but have not say in the matter, people who think this is a little barbaric.

Castro became a bad man whose death should be marked the same way Saddam's was: a gentle nod of the head, and a return to the world around us.
