Official Dancing With the Stars: Season 18

So disgusted that James and Charley both lost to Candace's fan base!!! Travesty!!

I voted with three phones, my FB page and abc.com tonight. All my votes went to Maks and Meryl. They should make beautiful shapes together, get married and create gorgeous children. He's succeeded in making her sensual...a think I thought impossible after the Olympics.

ITA. Meryl is the best contestant, that has ever competed on DWTS. IMO The chemistry between M&M is off the charts. DH commented on their connection, but I can't repeat it on a family friendly board. ;)

Yes! Yes!! Yes!!!

For the first time, I agree w/ Carrie Ann - they just need to get married!

I'm hoping that we disser's represent a sample size of the voters, and since we all seem to be voting for Meryl and Maks, that means that they are going to win! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:;)

Who might that be? Your comment doesn't seem in line with your "keep the faith" "love and peace" signature.

Maks is in love and Meryll is not. She turned her face after the scores were read when Maks tried kissing her. Same with Derek and his partner, he turned and gave her his cheek.

I saw this differently. Meryl has been described as painfully shy, so I would think she's uncomfortable with the PDA especially on national TV.

The bashing is getting old.
Bashing? GMAB. It's true that Candace's FAN BASE is why she's in the finals. She has been repeatedly near or on the bottom of the leader board and her dancing and scores were no where nearly as good as Charlie's or James'. It's her FANS that have lifted her into the final 3 much like Bristol's FANS or Marie Osmond's FANS or Erin Andrews FANS (I was never one of them, LOL) or Rob Kardashian's FANS lifted them into the final 3. Candace's FAN BASE comes from a combination of being on Full House *and* as a devout Christian. She has had many of her former co-stars in the audience to cheer her on and to remind all those people who saw her "back in the day" and in re-runs who she is. As for her faith, she's made no bones about it and has used DWTS to "witness":

It's been a wild ride for Bure, who wanted to represent her faith and Christ while she competed on the series. Bure often spoke of her faith and the importance of family, proving that she was dedicated to fulfilling her role.
So what? Who cares where her FAN BASE comes from? I don't ... only that she, like the other "stars" I listed above, knocked out dancers that were better than she is. A *lot* better. Pointing out that her FAN BASE is keeping her in the competition is not "bashing" :confused3.

But how is that different from anyone else? We have seen people at the top of the leader board go home. Therefore, people who were second on the leader board were kept around because of his or her FAN BASE. Meryl is kept around because of her FAN BASE. Amy is still around because of her FAN BASE. The fans are what keep people around. The producers know that they need to keep the viewers happy and the best way to do this is to let them determine who sticks around. If someone is the best dancer but no one seems to be voting for him or her, it doesn't do the producers any good to keep that person around and get rid of someone the fans actually are enjoying. I don't get why people get so mad that a lesser dancer is kept around. Obviously that person was just more popular. Keeping the popular one around means more viewers. More viewers means more advertisement dollars. That's what they are after.

Because a lot of people see DWTS as. "true" competition rather than the entertainment show it actually is.

I agree... it's the fans that keep the stars around.

However, I'm a viewer, & I like to see the better dancers stay - who may or may not be the "more popular" stars.

Before this season, I had no clue who James was, while, yes, of course, I knew who Candace was. However, James is the better dancer, &, to me, he & Peta were more entertaining to watch - as were Charlie & Sharna & Danica & Val - than are Candace & Mark.

As a viewer, I would have liked to have seen Candace go home before Charlie, Danica, & James.

Another thing, I don't like it when voters get all crazy & start campaigning & voting for the star just because of their religious beliefs or political stances - like they're trying to "prove" something.

I am a conservative Christian, & I did not vote for Bristol or Candace.

It just seems silly to me - first of all, these voters are supposedly voting because they want to support a fellow Christian who assumedly shares their more conservative beliefs. Okay, I sort of "get" that. But have they seen the show? LOL! Skimpy costumes, suggestive dances, sexual innuendos, Bruno... :rotfl: I mean, by voting, what are they really supporting? The star or the show?

Instead of using all this energy to get on the bandwagon & vote just because the person is a Christian or a Republican or whatever, use that energy to go make a real difference. It was the same thing w/ Chaz Bono too - people were getting behind him & voting for the cause he represented instead of voting for him as an actual person & dancer.

I understand if a person is voting because they truly are watching the show, like the star, & are enjoying watching the star dance, but to just vote to support the star's cause or religious or political stance seems silly to me.

But, again, I'm shallow, & I like to be entertained while I'm watching DWTS by really good dancing & the chemistry between the pros & their stars.

And, if someone is paired w/ Maks, then I'm all in regardless... except for Hope Solo. I never liked her.

I've enjoyed Candace this season because I like seeing her journey and progress. I'm clearly in the minority on this board, but I don't care about Meryl (or Charlie, for that matter). She's already a dancer. She didn't have as far to go. But, I'm usually not a fan of the "ringers". I didn't care to watch Zendaya, Corbin, Sabrina, Nicole, and those stars. I personally prefer to see people on the show who don't have an extensive dance background. But that's me. Other people are clearly different. I do wonder how different people would feel, though, if Meryl hadn't gotten Maks as a partner. If she had been paired with Derek, for example, would people still be talking about how she deserves to win? I ask because people seem to get annoyed with Derek's "ringers" (Jennifer Grey, Nicole Scherwhatever) and say that they have an unfair advantage, but seem to be behind Meryl.

For whatever it's worth, I have voted a grand total of once this season. I'm not a big voter.

well, that's my point. There is no 'bashing' going on, passive aggressive or otherwise.

But, again, I'm shallow

Shallow? Because you're voting, in a TALENT competition, for someone with said talent over someone who is either pretty to look at or has a belief you like? I don't think so.

Shallow because you're NOT following the herd mentality and thinking for yourself? Again, I don't think so.

Well, for me, personally, while I sometimes get annoyed that Derek seems to always get the more talented stars, I do enjoy watching them.

Most of the time, whoever Derek is paired w/ is the better dancer &, in my mind, deserves the win - it's just that Derek always seems to get the better dancers.

I would have liked to have seen Derek & Maria Mentuous (sp?) go further - I loved them!

Derek is a extremely talented choreographer & just seems to bring out the best in his partner. He knows how to adjust the choreography to their strengths.

I adore Maks, but Derek is a better choreographer.

I enjoyed watching Derek w/ Jennifer Grey & Nicole - Nicole & Derek's 50s style Paso is one of my all-time favorite dances ever.

I'm one who doesn't care if the star has prior dance experience - for me, it makes their dancing more entertaining & enjoyable to watch.

However, I didn't think Amber & Derek should have won last season, but that whole season felt "off".

With her parents in the audience.

She is one heck of an actress than, to pull off a whole bedroom scene dance with Maks in front of her parents and national tv. So much for painfully shy during that routine.:sad2:
