Official Dancing With the Stars, season 16 thread

No, she is not just eye candy. They gave her a microphone and make her do (annoying) interviews. Vanna White is eye candy with no speaking.

I was talking about the questions. She can't even ask them without reading that card. Vanna was a model, Brooke is a host. She's supposed to look good and read the cards. Don't give her credit for the content.

Much like I always hated when American Idol would have "Stevie Wonder Night" or "Beatles Night," I hated everyone dancing to Stevie songs last night. I think some of the couples (Andy & Sharna and Victor & Lindsey come to mind) were at a disadvantage from the get go because their songs didn't seem suited to the style of dance they were dancing.

At any rate, I loved Zendaya, Aly and Kellie, liked Ingo and Jacoby and still find Andy endearing. So my bottom two would be Sean and Victor.

Sean is just not a good dancer. When one of the judges described him as a lumberjack I actually said "yes!" out loud. He does all the correct steps but he never actually looks like he is dancing.

I thought Victor did a whole lot of nothing last night and actually seemed to bump into Lindsey a few times.

However, I thought the group dances were sloppy on both sides and that the judges were off in their scores. I would have given both dances the same score. And it was rude of Carrie Ann to say that Zendaya was the only one dancing well in her group. (maybe it was just the way she said it) I appreciated Val speaking up and saying he thought the whole group did well.

Anyway, if Victor or Sean go home tonight, that will be a-ok with me.

I admit, I was a little bored last night watching DWTS.

It's not that I don't like Stevie Wonder, it's just that, after a while, all his songs start to sound the same to me.

That's another thing - two of my favorite dances are the Tango & the Paso, & I just don't think Stevie Wonder songs are good Tango or Paso dances.

I agree. They had to shoehorn in Stevie songs that really didn't match the dances at all.

I don't agree though, about Kellie. I don't enjoy her as a dancer- didn't think she deserved the scores she got. IMO, she is good at making pretty shapes with her poses, but she doesn't feel the music at all. Just goes from one "set piece" to the next. But she gets great scores because she is pretty and Derek is really good at choreographing to showcase his partners' strengths and hide their weaknesses. I'm probably the only one that feels that way... :confused3

That's the problem. It's a live show and not everything is on a cue card so she gets lost on the end of her leash every time she has to improvise.

I agree about Derek - he's an excellent choreographer & he just has a talented way of making his partner look good or bringing out hidden talent in her. If I were a contestant, I'd want Derek for my partner; his partners just always seem to have a leg up on the other dancers.

I do like Kellie though; however, none of her dances have really wowed me except for their Contemporary Jazz routine - that's been my favorite.

It was quiet in here last night, not a lot of folks watching I guess.

I rewatched both Zendaya's and Kellie's dances last night. Zendaya was marginally better than she has been, she still has no core and she needs to place her feet and straighten her knees more. Enjoyed the training video, ha!

Kellie impressed me. If you watch her feet, she's doing a lot of the stuff that Derek is doing. That really was a good dance.

Third place is up in the air between Jacoby and Aly, imho. Aly keeps getting better, Jacoby is fun to watch. Toss up. Andy could sneak in there! Personality wins, or something.

Just tuning in. :happytv:

Sean & Peta are in Jeopardy.

I don't know if anyone else was already announced to be in jeopardy too.

Kellie & Derek
Aly & Mark

Both are safe.

Stevie Wonder says that he was a "major fan" of DWTS and will be back as a star.

Yay!!! Ingo is safe!!

He's one of my favorites! And he looked really good doing the Tango & the Paso last night - those dances just really worked for him.

In one of the early episodes, Kim was telling him he needed to look "snooty" as he danced whatever dance they were practicing. And she said something like, "I'm sure you can look snooty."

And he replied, "Yeah, when I pull up in my mini-van next to a guy in a Mercedes, I give him my best snooty look." :rotfl2:

I can get behind any dad who's not ashamed of driving a mini-van! LOL!

I don't think he is joking. He said he had been asked many times.

 He fulfills the oldest dancer category & the handicapped category.

I'm enjoying will.i.am, but his pants are really silly looking.

I think the same thing. Dude, you are really cool, but you look like you are wearing a droopy diaper. :sad2:

Victor is sweet but I think it is time for him to go.

That tribal dance makes me wish I was in the Animal Kingdom watching "Festival of the Lion King."

Jacoby's song is pretty much the only Stevie Wonder song I like.
