Official Dancing With the Stars: Fall 2015

How on earth did Alex get 10's for that very average waltz? I am not a big Carlos fan but I couldn't believe it didn't get 10's but then I think Carrie Ann has been using weird criteria all season.

Does Carrie Ann have a thing for Alex? His dance was not even in the same ball park as Carlos. Then Nick doesn't even get a vote for his cha cha? I will never understand the judges.

Maybe I missed it but is someone getting eliminated tonight? Last year there were four couples in the finals.

And all I could think of at the beginning of that dance was Dory and the fish with the light in Finding Nemo.

See, I actually like it and find it refreshing.
To her credit, I do think that is her genuine personality and I can appreciate that. I found it refreshing at first and now at this point in the competition it has become one dimensional to me.

Yes, I found her refreshing the first few weeks, and she still is my favorite. But, by Week 13(?) (and I'm sure it's mostly in the way the show has edited her,) that wide-eyed wonder and the exploitation of her father's death are getting a bit old.

It's kind of weird that Nick and Bindi, who have definitely been the front runners this season, scored the lowest while Alek, who has been at the bottom the most, got the highest score. No conspiracy theory or anything,

Well, unfortunately, due to current events and the weirdest of coincidental events, :crazy2: he's associated and represents once more, our American national, military hero and how we all, around the world, wish there had been some way to thwart the events in Paris last week like he & his friends did months before. :grouphug:

It's probably not conscious, but if you were one of the judges, could YOU mark him down with lower points?

Ok that different side of Bindi that I was lacking in her dances-I just saw it! That dance was amazing!!!

On a sort of related note, can anyone explain to me jazz style? Like characteristics or what its supposed to contain? This is only the second season I've watched the show, and the rest of the styles I've kind of picked up on (even contemporary) but jazz always seems like a free for all, is there anything specific that they have to show or include?

I think I jazz, I think Jazz hands like Bring it on. :rotfl:

He and his buddies are heroes. I think, my admiration and respect are on an entirely different level, after Friday's tragedy.

Don't forget the patriotic flag waving for Alek, the loving husband for Carlos and the recovered bad boy for Nick. Frankly, I'm tired of the DWTS "talking points" for all the stars!

Ha don't forget the religious/church talking point for Carlos! I'm with ya being tired of all of them.

I thought Alek's trio was one of his best dances of the season! This was the first night that he seemed comfortable, confident, and relaxed enough to have some fun! I didn't really expect him to hold his own with both girls in a sexy dance but I thought he did it fairly well.

There are actually different styles of Jazz dance, depending on the era. Jazz is is kind of Broadway & contemporary & modern jazz all mixed in. Last week's Chicago number was jazz. The original choreography for that Broadway show was Bob Fosse, who was one of the legendary jazz dance innovators. He created the "Fosse style" era of jazz dance and originated "jazz hands" which are associated trademarks of the Fosse style. He also choregraphed, Pajama Game, and a few other legendary Broadway shows.

A different legendary jazz dance style is the Broadway show is West Side Story. The whole rumble number at the beginning of the show is a jazz dance. That choreographer was Jerome Robbins and his jazz dance style is very different from Fosse. I got to see a Jerome Robbins retrospective tribute of his work on Broadway, before he died. He re-choreographed most of his original choreography from his shows. He included almost every dance number from West Side Story, and it was the highlight of the show. Standing ovation from everybody.

Twyla Tharp is celebrating her 50th year in a show up at Lincoln Center, that I'd love to see. She has a blend of jazz & contemporary, and sometimes ballet, mixed with pop songs, like the Broadway show, Movin' Out with Billy Joel's songs.

That was definetly modern jazz. The Charlestown showed how much better of a dance Karina is compared to Witney.
