Official Dancing with the Stars - All Stars

ABC News here reported that Bristol had gotten a death threat in the mail with white powder in it, sent to her dance studio. Of course, Mama Palin posted it on her FB, most likely to get more sympathy (votes) for Bristol. :sad2:

Interesting timing of events. . . two better dancers are booted off, but people are supposed to feel sorry & scared for Bristol.

The FBI & local police are investigating the letter, as it is a federal offense to send death threats in the U.S. mail.

I had actually read something similar about Bristol receiving a death threat earlier in the day. I totally believe it. As much as I am disappointed that she remains on the show while other better dancers are tossed off, I am sickened that someone is threatening her. And yes, I am a little afraid for her. I don't think it's all fake like her "fight" with Mark, but I can understand how you would think so considering how they have manufactured other drama.

Watching Jimmy Kimmel -- Drew and Anna are really mad! Helio and Chelsea are a little more reserved. They all seem to both be disappointed.

The nasty, vile and petty comments on this board are inappropriate. Many on this board have voiced their opinions, regarding Bristol, from the first day, the world met her mother. She was a teenaged kid, not a mean, entitled , little brat (y'all can't call her fat this season) Why so mean? I know, it's not just you, so this is open to all Bristol haters.

I was excited to watch this season.
I am done with the show now.
The good dancers are going and the ones that are controversial are staying (and those who can't dance or are not as good as those who are being booted).
Sad---this show has lost my respect---really wonder if 'rigged' for rating somehow.
Would people watch as much if Kirstie and Bristol were gone!

After 9/11, when someone was mailing letters to people here in NYC with anthrax in them, I found out a couple of the letters passed though one of the post offices which processes my mail. Authorities found out later, the anthrax could have leaked out and contaminated other letters it was in piles with. So even people who weren't targeting got sick. It was a very scary time wondering if I had touched an envelope that accidentally was contaminated.

They never caught the person(s) who sent the letters. In subsequent years, they have never caught other people who have sent white powder letters in the mail to politicians & the like. It actually appears to be an easy crime to get away with if one doesn't leave fingerprints or DNA.

I can totally see one of Bristol's moms supporters sending her a faked envelope in support to garner Bristol sympathy at a very calculated time. And while Sarah may not have been complicit, she certainly DID use it to her benefit by posting it on her Facebook. I'm sure her fans will show up in droves next week voting for Bristol in record numbers. "Don't let these people scare you Bristol, we're here for you!" It would be interesting to actually see the actual vote count next week.

Security advisor, Gavin de Becker and the FBI actually advise NOT to give publicity to situations like this. NOT give attention, NOT give power to the perpetrators that way. That it is even a blip on the radar. (While the FBI work on it discretely.) The person would be left wondering, "Did she get it? Did I even arrive? Did she open it?"

No, Sarah, instead, made sure to announce it to everyone.

I'm done. Removed the show from my DVR.

Where the heck is the dance off???

Had they done the dance off last night the 2 former winners would have stayed and the other 2 mediocre teams would have left.

This is crazy.

As far as the other one who CANNOT dance, her ploy worked perfectly.
She cries and slams Mark and she gets a million more votes UGH!

ABC should be ashamed to air a sham like this.

Watching Jimmy Kimmel -- Drew and Anna are really mad! Helio and Chelsea are a little more reserved. They all seem to both be disappointed.

Yes, and Jimmy made sure to talk about Bristol in his opening monologue. I said it in a post earlier, she is used to garner listeners, viewers & ratings. It benefits DWTS, ABC & Jimmy to talk about her. It will probably be all over the tabloid talk shows tomorrow. So she stays on.

If Kirstie & Bristol had gone instead, this would have turned into a real dance competition of the previous best dancers. This show had so much potential. :sad2: It could have been great. I, too, lost respect for this show. I feel bad for all the really good dancers. :(

I'd be too if I was voted off over Bristol. Kind of irritating too because both Helio and Drew when asked about her in the last week, said nice things (have no idea if it hurt to do so but I thought that was kind of classy).

I think Trey Parker and Matt Stone were onto something when they made that most recent episode of South Park. That bar is lower than ever.

This show, like every other show on the air, is all about ratings. They aren't trying to bring people into the world of professional ballroom or expand our minds. They are putting this on to give us some mindless entertainment. Because their main focus is entertainment and ratings, they are going to let people vote. Now, you can argue all you want about how people should be voting this way or that way, but the fact is, they need to vote for people that they are going to watch. And ABC needs to keep people on that the viewers will watch. People complain about Bristol, but she clearly brought enough viewers in the first time to bring her back a second time. Also, she is clearly receiving votes that tell the execs that people are watching her. So while you may not be a fan of her's, there are still plenty of people out there who are clearly supporting her. Because of that, the DWTS powers that be aren't going to kick her off - not when there are people who aren't garnering as much support.

Some people say it is all about he controversy, and while that might play a small role, I hardly think it is the major contributing factor. If controversy was what brought in the ratings, they would have Kate Gosslin on the show. And why do people think that the other contestants should hate Bristol? Because she isn't as good of a dancers? Do you judge how much you like a person by how well they dance? I don't. I judge hoe much I like a person by how they treat me and those around them. I haven't seen Bristol do anything wrong on this show to any of the pros or other contestants.

Like her or don't like her. Vote for her or don't vote for her. I really don't care. But saying things about how her mother shouldn't be trying to get people to vote for her is dumb. Because no other contestants have people campaigning for them? Saying that her mom or that camp is the one who sent the threatening letter is also really dumb. You think that they will commit a federal offense to win Dancing With the Stars? Really?

I agree. That is uncalled for and over the top crazy! She doesn't deserve threatening hate mail, that's insane. While I'm not enamoured with her (her claim to fame is being a pregnant teen :() I don't understand the hatred either. I don't care for her dancing at all, I think she's the worst one there because this is a DANCING competition, an All Stars season to boot. If I were her mom though, man this would bring out the mama bear in me.:furious:

It would bring out my mama bear, as well. I think that I feel sorry for Bristol because her fame isn't 100% for just being a teen mom. It's for being a teen mom while her mother was running for VP. She isn't the same as these girls who go on 16 and Pregnant who are hoping to get famous off of their pregnancy. Her fame was thrust upon her when she was still a minor. I felt for her like I felt sorry for Chelsea Clinton when everyone was talking about how ugly she was at just 12 years old. I feel like we need to leave the children of politicians alone as they have absolutely no choice in the matter. They are in the public light and all because of choices their parents made. That's what happened to Bristol. Then, she tried to use that fame for a good cause and would talk to teens about abstinence and safe sex, but people still want to crucify her for the choices she made. I feel sorry for her.

I would enjoy these types of shows so much more if only the professionals judged the contestants. This sort of thing happens on all the shows with audience vote. The results are not really based on talent, but by the popularity with different groups.

ABC is a business and as a business needs to bring in viewership. Audience votes do that. While the judges are supposed to give a rating based on dance quality, the audience is not held to the same standard. They are voting for the people they wish to see again.

I don't understand why so many people don't understand that ABC is about making $$$$$ and viewership does that for them.

I do remember the anthrax attacks. My senator received an envelope with anthrax and his office staff was exposed. I do think that Bristol received some kind of threat but I see what you're saying about Sarah making the threat public. You would think that she would know better and that her daughter's own safety is more important than getting votes.

I predict that Bristol will fold under this week's backlash and will quit very soon. She does not appear to be very happy on the show.

I actually agree with you in part. I would agree wholely if it weren't for Bristol trying to launch her reality tv show. Or going on DWTS for that matter. Both of those venues thrust her back into the spotlight and highlight again that her sole claim to fame is getting pregnant as a teenager. But I agree that initially, she was thrust into fame because of her mom's VP campaign.

I do however agree with you regarding Chelsea Clinton. That was awful the way the press mocked that poor child! And she was just that, a child.

Bristol Palin is not one of the best dancers on the show, by far! We all KNOW that.

However, I find myself rooting for her because I admire her courage and her determination.

She knows she's not the greatest of dancers, but yet she perseveres, and I DO believe she is giving it her best week after week. Unfortunately, she is too reserved to really come out of her shell and that shows in her dancing.

To know that most of the world "hates" her, but yet she still makes an appearance amazes me. I would not be that brave. She knows exactly what is being said about her on the internet.... by people that do not know HER AT ALL. Mean, spiteful things. I'm reminded of the newscaster that was recently taunted bc of her weight. How is this any different? She's being bullied, but yet she chooses not to give into it. I APPLAUD her for that. I know I couldn't do it. I'd be standing up there thinking "vote me off, vote me off, vote me off" just so the world wouldn't hate me so much.

I believe Bristol is reserved and insecure (we saw that come out with Mark) and it shows in her dancing. She just can't let go. But she is IMPROVING! And I LOVE to see that. Much more than dancers that can dance right from the get-go! Who is working harder??

She's one brave, determined young girl. It's got to be tough as anything to face the judges week after week, and even worse, to face America and their cruel comments.

Once again, it's a popularity contest, people. Rallying for votes for Bristol is absolutely no different than people rallying votes for Kirstie or any other favorite dancer.

And to think the death threat was staged for sympathy votes. REALLY?? Just wow....

Bristol will never quit, even if she wanted to her mother would not let her. She is being paid and the longer she stays the more money she makes. Did you hear her say her technique was not that bad? She thinks they are scoring her too low.

For all those who think we are being too hard on Bristol, well she knew what she was doing. There's her mother's fans and that vote for the worst site. I don't hate Bristol but she is not a "star". I know this show has had some "C" listers but at least they had some fame on their own. Bristol has none of that, her reality show was a bomb, I didn't watch but from what I've read she's not a very good mother. Sarah has been there every show, last time I think she showed up three times, she is using her daughter to keep herself in the limelight. I just wish the whole family would go away.
