Official "Castle" thread! Spoilers welcomed!

I'm sure OUATITW will be a fun episode, but based on the photos, it seems to contain something that is a MAJOR peeve of mine: modern-day women supposedly attempting to re-enact Old West lifestyles, but running around in public in underclothing. The photos of Beckett lasso-ing Castle have her standing on a public street wearing nothing but a corset, chemise and petticoat. Even a prostitute would have been arrested for indecent exposure for standing on a street dressed that way. It just bugs the heck out of me when this happens in films and TV shows and is treated as no big deal.

FWIW, based on what I've seen so far, the resort that they are going to isn't exactly a typical dude ranch; it's a living-history resort; sort of like the one featured in "Westworld" -- only minus the robots (one hopes!) It would have great fun to have gotten Brolin into this one; he was one of the stars of the original Westworld film. (I loved Westworld; it was a landmark film in terms of special effects, and Brynner was great as the Gunslinger.)

I'm pretty sure that this is going to be one of the homage eps, but the question is, what film? Westworld, or the real Once Upon a Time in the West (one of Sergio Leone's spaghetti westerns)? There is a Firefly connection to the original OUATITW; a line where one of the outlaw gang calls the leader's name in front of witnesses; a variant of that line turned up in Firefly as an homage. If it turns up here again, it will be a three-fer, LOL.

I've seen the end, and she does indeed wear that as a dress. But the scene is fun and cute, and it works.

Loved the episode tonight!!! So much better than last week. :lovestruc I loved the look on Castle's face when Gates agreed with his undercover plan. :rotfl2:

...

... And the look on his face when Kate called him Mr. Beckett. (Sauce for the gander, LOL.)

(My DH does exactly the same thing when folks accidentally call him by my last name. 24 years and he has STILL got a chip on his shoulder about it.)

I *was* a little disappointed that the writers didn't get in a crack about robots, though; the set-up just begged for that. It would have been great if Beckett had been the one to bring it up, seeing as how she was reluctant to go.
There did seem to be a little thing going on involving Dan Blocker. Fillion's costume was reminiscent of Blocker's from Bonanza, there was mention of a 10-gallon hat, and at one point Beckett even called Castle "Hoss".

There seemed to be a lot of Bonanza references in last night's show. Although I guess you would have to be in one of the older demographic groups to recognize them. The burning map was the most obvious one. Even Beckett's black outfit looked like the clothing worn by Adam Cartwright (minus the leather corset).

According to Luke Reichle's Twitter feed, the black outfit was supposed to be reminiscent of someone else (though also male) ...

Totally agree with this, in that it was a much better episode then last week:goodvibes

Also in regards to the Stana interview, its common for them not to have started full negotiations for next season as they usually wait until it has been picked up by the network for next season. I imagine the feelers have been put out about renegotiation though.

I'm sure they've been talking contracts with all of the representatives. Stana and Nathan aren't stupid - neither of then is going to say "I want to come back so badly!" They're going to play it close to their vests. The ratings have been okay this year, so they certainly have a good chance at renewal. And I have a feeling the two of them want to come back. But we'll see.

Hmmm ... guesses.

Perhaps Martha moves out ... or gets sick?
Some kind of problem at the loft that requires EVERYONE to move out for a while?

Gates goes on leave for some reason and has Beckett appointed acting Commander? (Or some kind of task force appointment, maybe? Something that makes Beckett's job different for a while in some way.)

Something to do with a book? (A plagiarism lawsuit? The return of the James Bond thing? A new Nikki Heat film deal?)

Like it!

It's so weird that they say it will change the "shape" of the series. How about Lannie getting pregnant?

....although that wouldn't necessarily change the direction of the series, would it?
