Official "Castle" thread! Spoilers welcomed!

I like the "mythology arcs" as Marlowe likes to call them; I think it's fun digging out little clues here and there even when something else is the priority of the day. I don't think they are going to be able to do that as seamlessly with the Rick's Disappearance story as the were with the Who Killed Joanna story -- unless -- someone is still after him. That was what made it plausible that Beckett and Co. would keep stumbling over things related to her mother's murder; Beckett's potential ability to successfully sniff him out was a loose end that Bracken could not resist trying to tie off. So, what would be the motivation for whoever/whatever diverted Castle to keep him alive but out of it? If digging is dangerous, wouldn't it be better for the baddies if he were dead? Or is he worth more to them alive? (This has clear potential for becoming some sort of Manchurian Candidate homage, I think. Think they can convince Angela Lansbury to do a guest shot sometime this season?)

As to Montreal, I rather liked it; we appear to be getting back on track. It was cute that the toy company's signature product was a doll that is a caricature of Molly Flynn. My favorite line? "Need I remind you I'm a grown man? I don't need to ask your permission. ... That being said, please, please, please can I go?" (Also, clearly, the safe deposit manager knows something.)

Yeah, I love the continuing mysteries - Kate's mom's story, the mystery of Castle's dad, why Rick became a murder mystery writer - and it is very important part of the show. One of the many reasons I love it. And so far, I'm loving this little mystery of what happened to Rick, and so far, I have no theory - I'm going with the flow. (maybe because my guesses are always so so wrong, LOL). I kinda like your guess however.

And I loved this episode - the scene you mentioned from Rick's "It's Canada, how risky could it be?" (very funny from Mr. Canada himself) to the lines you mentioned to Kate letting him go because Alexis will be with him and keep him out of trouble. And I agree -that bank manager knows something. And another interesting thing - remember in "Cops & Robber" back in Season 4 - when Rick & Martha were held hostage in the bank? Remember Rick mentioning that safety deposit box keys do not have numbers on them, that's why the bad guys wanted the hostage situation? Well, I guess Canadian banks are different since the 38 on the key was the box number!

Also, this episode clearly was for Nathan Fillion - and he was up to it. He was great.

And I think you mean Molly Quinn.

I have to agree with everyone that the first episode was disappointing - only Kate was looking for him? Alexis just went back to school? She wouldn't have left the precinct, or she would have looked for him herself.

It also disappointed me that no one recognized that, even if Castle didn't want to get married, he wouldn't do that to Alexis - never. Not even if she were still with Pi.

In this episode, I also didn't understand the ending - why did the guy let Castle go? Why did Castle leave? There's no way he would accept not knowing what happened for 2 months.

As to just Kate looking for him: we don't know what Alexis and/or Martha were doing for the 2 months he was gone - we didn't see it. And let's face it, who has the tools to search - Kate does. And since the wedding was supposed to take place in May (as you can see on the program someone is holding in the finale) the 2 months he was gone are probably June & July -so Alexis wasn't in school. And she's clearly not in school during the second episode since she's totally able to go to Montreal with Rick.

And of course, he wouldn't leave any of them - but as far as the press & the public knows, anything is possible. And I think that's the reason Kate kept looking for him - she knew he wouldn't leave Alexis or Martha. And now that she's seen the video he made when he thought he was going to die, Kate knows he'd never leave her either, but she had chosen to believe him anyway.

As to why the guy let Rick leave, who knows? We obviously didn't see everything.

And Rick left without answers so he could get home to his family, and talk to them.

I was away last week, so I didn't post my feelings on episode 1. But I liked it. Was it my favorite episode ever? No, but I was on the edge of my seat throughout. And I love the long drawn out mystery that there's starting to spin for us. Stana Katic was her usual amazing self in that episode too.

Now for my feelings on episode 2, Montreal. I really enjoyed it. Again, it wasn't the best episode ever, but I was entertained. We got a few answers, but I know we didn't get them all.

I loved (in no particular order):
1. When they arrived at the victim's office, and Rick & Kate start to have a serious discussion about the leads, but he's distracted: "Toys!" & then he starts to play. Classic.
2. Ryan's greeting of Rick at the crime scene.
3. Espo's new ringtone, courtesy of Lanie
4. Rick being put in "time-out" by Kate
5. Rick's video to Kate - "I've always loved you"
6. Martha being Martha & picking up a guy in a grief group
7. the scene where Alexis, Rick & Kate discuss going to Montreal - his "I'm an adult, but....please, please, please can I go?" and Kate's "I'm letting you go because she'll keep you out of trouble" were great. Very family-like
8. Rick planting one on Gates. Weird but funny. Also, I follow PJJ on Twitter & she always mentions how she wants Nathan to give her a kiss for luck, so I guess they wrote in a Castle/Gates kiss!
9. the scene with the fake Henry & Rick - some answers but not all.
10. the scene after he gets back from the solo trip & talks to the ladies in his life
11. and of course, the whole ending scene with Kate & Rick discussing stuff - how Kate has turned into the support giver, the shoulder to lean on. Great stuff. And of course, it's been leaked (spoiler alert!) that they will be getting married in November

And I loved Nathan Fillion in this episode! I don't think my love for him is a secret, but he was fantastic.

Again, not a great episode but I enjoyed it. Next week's episode with the "Invisible Man" looks like a classic silly Castle episode - and I think we need that.

And I read today that Castle will be preempted on November 3rd, when they are showing a special on the CMA's. We got spoiled last year with 10 straight episodes out of the chute without a repeat or a preemption, and I was hoping that would happen again this year, but I guess it wasn't to be. Well, Kate's birthday is supposed to be Nov. 17, so maybe that's the wedding - maybe Rick's paying her back for his surprise party by throwing her s surprise wedding. I am convinced the real wedding will not be a big thing - probably just the 'family', not 300 guests. I hope they do it somewhere pretty - I'm hoping for the place they met - with either the mayor or Judge Markway presiding.

The more I think about it, the more the whole bit with the letters in the SDB is beginning to bug me. Yes, great scene potential watching Kate watch what's on the chip, but I can't get past where the letters were. An unidentified SDB -- containing nothing but "if you are watching this, I am dead" letters?

NO ONE WITH A BRAIN WOULD DO THAT! When you write a letter like that you want it to get to its intended recipient after you die; not molder in a SDB for at least a year with no one but the (dead) letter writer aware of its existence. You send a letter like that to a lawyer to hold, not stick it in a bank box. Or if you do put it in a bank vault you send the key to the lawyer, with a letter authorizing the lawyer to open the box and distribute the contents as part of the estate. (And then there is the issue of SDB's normally being sealed upon death and entered into probate, which is why estate attorneys will tell you never to keep the only copy of your will in a SDB.)

Maybe the writers will figure a way to make it less boneheaded, but I can't see how at this point. That location makes no sense at all.

And when I went to look,at the synopsis for next week, what d I see on my cable gulde? A football game. I have to wait until Wednesday for them to broadcast the show.:furious:

I hate that. The Giants are on Monday Night Football on Nov. 3, but I don't think Castle is scheduled to be on that night.

You know, there are links available so you can stream it on that Monday night. I know that a lot of people who live in Europe watch it that way so they can watch it the same time we in the US do.

I usually record it and watch the next morning while getting ready for work. Lights are out be 10:30 these days. Jeez, I'm old. :rotfl2:

Love, love, loved it!!!! I watched it online earlier and will watch at 10 when it comes on my local channel. Then I will dvr and watch it again!

MUCH better. This one had a lot of gimmes for Fillion and his King of All Geeks schtick..

The Creaseys wrote it, and that is usually a good sign. The only writer who does a better job with this show is TEM. (Speaking of TEM, I've noticed that this ep and the previous one both contained deliberate echos of lines from Always: Kate tells Rick that they have to get to "solid ground", and as they banter over the iPads we revisit the question of what Kate wants.)

Also, it's fun that Ryan has taken a job as a bouncer in a place where most of the people he might have to "bounce" will be women. There is a gold mine of comic opportunity in that one.

Going to be too busy to post the next few nights so I wanted to post today.

I don’t think it’s a secret that I loved that episode. Good old fashioned Castle fun. From what I’ve been reading, I am one of the few that liked the case. I had no idea who the killer was too. The Creaseys have become quite popular with the fandom. By the way, they are fun to follow on Twitter, and they will often retweet and favorite fan posts.

What I loved:

1. The ending scene of course! He was adorable in the goggles, I loved how she raised them, and I loved his reaction to her “invisible” clothes
2. The make-out scene! Wow – hot (well, for network TV) and sweet – loved his brushing her hair out of her face – loved his “you don’t know I much I missed this” and her answer “you had amnesia for 2 months – I missed it more.” – loved her “I feel like we’re being watched” – his “did you hear that” – the banter thru this scene was great.
3. The line about zombie camp and her “you make nerdy sexy” and his response – “true”. This Nathan Fillion fan could do nothing but agree
4. The opening scene between Kate & Rick – reading on their tablets – peeking over the top of the tablets (just like the scene in “Flowers For Your Grave” when they’re reading the fan mail) – the realization that they are both “ready” – and the phone call.
5. And the scene as they walk into the crime scene – especially Rick’s hand resting on the cop. I would have loved that more if it were LT, but it was pretty darn good anyway
6. Him telling her not to answer the phone (when Lainie called). Dana Creasey tweeted that there was a scene that Nathan and Stana ad-libbed, some think it was that scene
7. Martha getting trapped – too funny
8. The mind meld when getting the killer!
9. Espo’s face when he tried to figure out where Ryan was working and when Ryan told him
10. Espo’s gift to Ryan
11. Using Castle’s nerd skills to track the friend
12. Castle with the sword
13. Castle wanting to be invisible so he can know what Kate’s dad really thinks of him (and I hope someday we find out – I just want to see Scott Paulin who plays Jim Beckett again!)

All in all, a fun and sweet episode. I loved that he and Kate brought up the time he was missing – at least they’re not ignoring it. And like many have said, I don’t want to rush away my weekend, but I can’t wait for Monday’s episode!!!

Did anyone see the Ebola virus poster in the lab at the end of the show? It was just to the right of the door. Ironic coincidence.
