Well, I guess we needed a light, fluffy episode of Castle and "The Way of the Ninja" was certainly light & fluffy, with a little bit of sweet & a little bit of revenge thrown in.
First, the quotes:
Perlmutter: What you don't know about post-mortem analysis could fill a book. In fact it has, many times.
Beckett: "Of course, we cant let facts get in the way of a good story."
Castle: Our killer is a ninja.
Beckett: Or he is just an athletic person with a hooded track suit.
Castle: "Let's put it into our vows. A promise to each other that, even though we're married, it doesn't mean there no more romance and we will never, ever be boring."
and my favorite of the night:
Beckett: "The last thing I need is to watch someone from my past trying to seduce my fiance while talking about the goddess that lives in her (whatever)"
Loved:
the scene with Castle, Beckett & Gates when they discuss the 'ninja'.
the scene with Castle & Beckett talking about her girlfriend before she goes out. The discussion about the friend being so competitive, Rick saying no-one's written books about her, his wanting to go along so he can share stories of their crime fighting, and then her line about "the goddess" - nice, funny, made me laugh.
the scene where she wants him to call her if he hasn't heard from her by 10 PM, him setting an alarm & telling her "that's the good thing about having a life partner"
then the scene after he forgot to call & then couldn't call because of the ninja attack - loved Beckett making fun of his comment about life partners, loved how he was sifting toward the left (remember Meredith's comments in "Significant Others"?) how he tried to defend himself with "then the ninjas attacked" but how it was really about how boring her friend was, and how she's worried they might bore each other after they're married (I don't want us to be that couple that goes to the same 2 restaurants & only has sex on national holidays). Loved his response to that (let's put it in our vows), and the cute bit where she made him kiss her multiple times, and his "torture". And she was wearing her ring!
the 3 guys in the "tea company". Ryan sliding the girl off his lap, Castle saying "we're not cops, we're just 3 guys" - well Rick you AREN'T a cop - Ryan singing karoke, Rick with the $6000 bill - good stuff.
loved Rick trying to expense the $6000 - and Gates' response to that!
loved the bit with the coffee cup
liked Kate's response when the sister was going to kill the bad guy
Cronuts!
Poor Rick's phone.
And poor Capt. Gates. Hope the ninja weapon didn't hurt too much!
I did guess who the bad guy was the first time we saw him.
All in all, a fun classic episode. Next week's looks good too.
