I just ordered three cakes for our upcoming vacation. We're celebrating a belated birthday, anniversary and the birthday of a DSIL.

Jen, Blanche and Pat were all great.....patient and helpful. Can't wait to see the cakes.

Thanks to lurkyloo for her expertise, everyone for sharing their experiences and Tricia for maintaining the cake threads. :surfweb:

Can anyone suggest a cake for a 10 year old girl having breakfast with the princesses at EPCOT. Party of 6 kids and 7 adults...although not all the adults want cake.

I just wanted to share a picture of the cake we recently had at Disney to celebrate our honeymoon. I ordered it through Pat at the GF and had it delivered to our room at the GF.

The cost was $51. It was a 6 inch chocolate cake with buttercream icing. DH thought the icing was too buttery, but I thought it tasted fine. And, while the stick with the heart tasted chalky, the white chocolate with the screen print was good! Hopefully, these photos will work...

Sorry if they're too big! I'm not sure how to resize them.

What a cute cake!

I still can't get the picture of my Mickey Mouse chocolate dessert from the Grand Floridian to post, but I could make it my Avatar so at least people can see it a little bit.

ok....we just booked a trip for april and we are driving down, so we will actually be driving on my youngest 1st bday....so I want to get a cake for the day we arrive at the boardwalk.

My cake at Yachstman steakhouse was inspired by this thread...now I need to look back and find one for my youngests 1st bday!! This one is going to be harder than my own....he doesn't have a fav , yet....

My brother and I are going to the Wilderness Lodge to celebrate his 18th birthday. I'd like to get a cake done, but not sure which would be better: In Room Dining (Is it true the Contemporary can do it?) or order it through Boardwalk and go pick it up. Anyone know where the better cake would be?

I'm so glad to hear you had a good experience, and I can't wait to see those cakes! :hyper:

If by "better" you mean "better looking, then the Contemporary is the way to go for an elaborately decorated cake. But if you're talking about flavor, you might do better to order a cake from Publix. :teeth: If you can get Private Dining at WL to arrange to get you a cake from the Contemporary, I'd say that would be the least hassle and give you the most options for decorations. :thumbsup2

Just wanted to share pics of my daughters birthday cake from 1900 Park Faire this past week (Dec 30). I had called and spoke to Pat the week before Christmas. She called me back on Christmas day evening to confirm details about the cake. Overall, I was pleased with the cake, and the birthday girl seemed to really love it. It was very moist, and the buttercream filling was very rich.

Details: 1900 Park Faire
8" white cake with vanilla buttercream filling/pink fondant icing
cost-$100

How did you request that cake? We are dining at 1900 Park Fare for my DD 6th Bday, and I am so excited. Everyone says Pat's cakes there are awesome.
She wants a castle coming out of the top. I don't want the white chocolate thing on top- any suggestions from anyone? And I don't want the little circle thing sticking out the top either.
Maybe they can do a non-edible castle, that she can keep as memory. Anybody have pics of their castle cake?

I am trying to decide if we are going to WDW for Christmas/New Year's 2010 or wait 3 weeks and save a lot of $$$ and go around January 18th 2011 for my DS b-day. He will be 6. We could stay at the GF instead of WL due to difference in rates. My question about cakes is...finally....has anyone ever had a Cars/Lightning McQueen Cake made? My son is Cars nut and it would mean the world to him to spend his b-day at the World and have a Cars cake. Please post any pics of Cars cakes! Thanks so much!!!

I'm not sure if you're asking me how I requested that cake, but since your post followed my pics, I'll answer. I called the number for the Grand Floridian bakery and followed the prompts to speak with Pat. I had to leave three messages before she returned my call. We spoke by phone and I told her what I had in mind. She called back about 3-5 days later to confirm details of the cake.

BTW, Pat just takes the orders and helps coordinate special events. She doesn't actually do the baking.

I just ordered a custom cake that is going to tell us if we are having a boy or girl!
Dh, myself, and 3 kids will all find out together next Tuesday (Jan 12) at our dinner at Hoop-Dee-Doo Revue. My friend is going to do my ultrasound then call and tell them what to write on the cake.

Can't wait!!:yay:

We are going to be staying at the Contemporary for one night before going to Port Canaveral to take a RCCL cruise. I would like to get a cake with Mickey in his cruise attire that says Bon Voyage or something similar. Has anyone had anything like this done before? Any pictures would be awesome! Thanks!

I just called WL In Room Dining and spoke to a very nice CM who explained to me that they have a very limited celebration cake with candy balloons thats about 10". I inquired about customizing it (I want it to be music themed with an "18" prominent like the cake above) and she took down my info for the chef to call me back. When he does i'll ask if they can do it, or maybe they can order the cake from the Contemporary

Sandy,
I ordered one of these cakes from Publix over the holidays and it was absolutely delicious!!!
(BTW... Just got back from WDW today and had 2 custom made cakes during our trip that did not even come close to being as good as the one from Publix... not to mention the custom cakes cost me over $175!!!)
So, $22 and yummy, rich chocolate goodness... IMO, you are making a good choice!

I would totally order a publix cake but I want it to be decorated nicely.
