Good Luck - I left a message at POFQ on Wedneday evening and am still waiting!! In fact called back Thursday and faxed on Friday and still no joy :rolleyes1

We arrive a week tomorrow, but want to get sorted ASAP as I need cake for our first full day (DH birthday!)

Fingers crossed someone calls tomorrow :worship:

I wanted it for our first night in our room. If all else fails I'll call the Poly and have it for our dinner at 'Ohana. At least then we'll have a 3rd person to share it with. ;)

Could someone suggest a cake, around $30, that's not too big, for a guys birthday? There's only 3 of us going, and we can't eat much cake, and won't be taking the rest to the room. So something small and neat would be fun to order. Pics of said cake would be appreciative

Edit: we'd most likely be eating at the MK, or MGM

I am very excited for June 7th. I had originally ordered a cake from CR for our dinner at CM for June 9, however there wasn't a whole lot of options. I didn't want anything too girly because I am celebrating my DD 14 and DS 8 birthdays together can't afford 2 cakes or eat that much for only 3 of us. So since we changed our dining plans for our first night to Cape May and I have heard such wonderful things about their cakes, I gave them a call. I never heard back the first night I spoke with some one until 2 days later. Once I did though, the manager in charge of private dining was wonderful we made phone calls back and forth all evening yesterday. He wasn't sure what I was looking for and originally quoted me a $1200 price. :eek:Yeah no thanks! I love my kids but hello!:rolleyes1 So after I told him what I wanted because it is hard to choose something that they will both like. So after another talk with the baker, he is willing to make the cake I wanted and had seen on here some where but can't seem to find it any more. Some one had a Mad Hatter hat cake at the GF, so anyways I am getting my cake that I want for the kids and apparently it will be nicely decorated. So I cancelled he edible image one from CR, I don't care for those at all. So I am so excited and plan on taking tons of pictures! Sorry so long just had to share!

We will be there for DD'd 11 B-day on 8/15 & I haven't had any luck finding what I need. We are not real big cake eaters so all I wanted was a small sweet treat for her. Any suggestions.

You can get the smaller podium cakes that they have been pushing for smaller groups. I have heard mixed reviews on them though, some say they were still partially frozen others said they were similar to grocery store cakes. Those you can just order when you get there. Are you eating at at GF at all? you can get the chocolate slipper there or the mini castle cake. That would be much smaller for her. I really don't need or want a 10" cake however I wanted it to be more personal and am always looking for new ways to surprise my kids when we go to WDW. Good luck with whatever you decide, there are always plenty of options at Goofy's Kitchen and the different bakeries around the world for treats too!

My mom has been asking me what kind of cake I want for my bday in Disney and I started sketching out some ideas. Does anyone think something like this is possible?

You're great with photoshop!!!! That looks sooo cool. I think the cake design should be possible, either via a cake transfer or some fancy fondant and icing work, and if they make the Ariel & co. out of white chocolate 2d toppers, it should be pretty neat! I would call and ask.

Thanks for the info ~ I may just have to change our ressies around. She would REALLY love the chocolate slipper & going by the pictures, it would be the perfect size.

here is a picture of our anniversary cake from narcoosee's last year
(09/08). i had ordered a cake with the white chocolate castle and they did all of this and only charged me $30!!! it was a shock and it was beautiful!

As a former cake decorator, I don't think this is realistic for a cake.

The sides can be done with the edible images but expect to pay a pretty penny for it. It also appears that you have an edible image on the top of your cake as well. Edible images are pretty tasteless and will be peeled off the cake prior to eating and they are expensive (especially at Disney).

I would select 1 of your "stand up" figures to be pressed onto white chocolate (maybe Ariel).

Have you looked at the Cinderella cake on the first couple of pages of this thread? Maybe you could do the Ariel with White Chocolate and then along the sides if you are doing fondant can get images of the other characters on the sides? I think your idea is great though so you could call and see if they have a fax number and see if it is a possibility to do!

Ok guys - I need some help.

Long story short - was looking for cake at POFQ on DH birthday 9th June, Can't get chef to call me back. Tonight managed to get 1900 PF Dinner :cool1: which means I can get cake from GF bakery (assumming yes??!!)

So, my questions:

Have I left it too late to sort something out?
What number do I need to call? GF Private dining/Cakeline/ or somewhere else? :confused3
What time are these numbers available from? (will be calling from UK)

My DH favourite charachter is Donald Duck - would I be able to get something with him on? anyone got any pictures?

I'm now in major panic mode that I won't be able to get this all sorted in the time left before we leave UK - without him knowing - time difference from UK doesn't really help either!

Hoping some kind Dis'er can help me/put my mind at ease - please :worship:!!

You can call the cake hotline.

You can get Donald gold stamps maybe and they also have a Donald white chocolate statue too! Call and see what they can do for you.

They only need 2 weeks max notice. Even a week is possible. The cake hotline says 48 hours but I'd call a week or two ahead for a nice custom cake.

Good luck.

So here is the birthday cake we got at Citrico's last night. The pictures do not do it justice. The flowers were amazing and edible. Tinkerbell and the flowers had a subtle glitter/shine all over them. The restaurant was great and plated the slices beautifully and boxed up the rest. The Grand bakery is fantastic! It was $140 total. 10 inch Marble cake with custard and strawberries, frosting under green fondant. White chocolate Tinkerbell and purple and green flowers and vines/leaves/butterflies. Everyone LOVED it!

BEAUTIFUL cake PatriciaH!

I'll be ordering a cake in September for Narcoossees from the GF Bakery.
You mentioned speaking directly with Pat at the GF Bakery. Did you start by calling the cake hotline? Or GF Bakery? Or GF Private Dining?

TIA:flower3:

I just left a message for Pat Anderson at the GF. I called GF Private Dining and explained what I wanted (a custom cake for a 1900 Park Fare dinner) and the CM transferred me to Pat's extension. Left my name and number and a general idea of what I was hoping for. I'd like a Mary Poppins themed cake to celebrate my mother's retirement after 38 years in the school system. Sort of a "Jolly Holiday" idea. I have no idea if they can do that, but if not, I'm sure we'll come up with something else!

I finally spoke to the woman at CBR. We are getting a Mickey head cake. Just a heads up because when I asked no one was sure. It DOES come from Boardwalk Bakery and they CAN deliver it to the room. It's being delivered to our room at 5PM on Wednesday. The woman I spoke to tried her hardest to have it done for tomorrow but they are swamped with orders so Wednesday will be fine.

ok.. I am 17 days away from our trip and my head spins every time I read thru this thread, maybe it's a virtual sugar high? :rotfl:

We are staying at GF, so I can get a cake ordered and delivered to our room correct?

I am also toying with the idea of getting slipper desserts for our lunch at CRT.

Is there anything to order at CRT that's for guys?

Do I need to call the cake hotline for both of these and then let them connect me to the right people? I would make separate calls as I am still trying to figure out what I want to do.

Yes! Call Private Dining @ the Grand: 407-824-2474 :)

You could do the pirate loaf cake that you can order when you get to the check-in podium. You prolly saw pix as you were getting that sugar rush... ;)

Cake Hotline = cakes for restaurant meals

Private Dining (at your resort) = cakes & treats for your hotel room

Thank you... I get so caught up with reading the stories and seeing the cake porn that I start to confuse myself! Add in that sugar and it's all over.. :lmao:
