Because you folks were so kind to share your advice and experiences, I thought I'd post photos of the birthday specialties I purchased for my twins' 16th b-day at WDW.
They had the Slippers dessert at 1900 Park Fare, and the wonderful strawberries and castle-topper cake at Cape May.
The folks at Park Fare (characters were the step mother and step sisters, Prince Charming and Cindy) did a terrific job of joking with the girls, presenting them with their birthday crowns, and generally treating them like royalty. The dessert rated high on the "pretty" scale and I thought it was an interesting mix of fruit and white and dark chocolate, but my girls didn't have much to say about it other than it was "really pretty". (I take that to mean they didn't like it all that much.)
I have to say that our hands-down birthday favorite was the strawberries we had at Cape May, which were perfectly ripe, flavorful, and lovely. The castle cake was pretty dry, though the icing was good (according to my girls). The characters and servers at Cape May were even more boisterous than the Park Fare folks and came by for extra photo ops when the desserts were delivered.
Now for the bad news.... I was told we'd be charged
$25 per dessert (yes, for EACH dessert -- and I ordered
two of
each because I have two girls!) PLUS delivery, tax, & tip -- I guess I'll need to see my CC bill to find out exactly how much it all was.
Would I do it again??? Maybe for their 21st birthday. Maybe not. This year they turned "Sweet 16" and I wanted it to be very special. Hey, it was cheaper than buying them a car!
Thanks again for all your help!
