Glad I am not the only one!! Did you call the nuber on the hotline or the resort direct?? I called the hohotline so far, but if my call isn't returned by Monday I might try the hotel direct...

If I call & order a cake at the Poly will they put it in our room while we are at the Luau. Also can I get one with whip cream icing? I am thinking that won't be as sweet. I have tons of questions sorry. Do I need to be specific on what I want or a general idea. Can I pay for the cake when I order it since we won't be there when it is delivered.

I called the resort direct and asked for the bakery...I am not sure what is going on :confused3 I have until Sept to get things worked out but was just trying to get an idea of what was available and what I needed to do to go about getting it to the room...I guess I will have to call back also. :goodvibes

Glad I am not the only one... I am going to call back on Monday... I will give her the benefit of the doubt that she is on vacation or something this week.

I need a little Boardwalk Bakery help. Called to order my cake yesterday and again today and was given a complete run-around by everybody and their brother. We had talked directly to Boardwalk Bakery before, but now the Hotline insists the Bakery doesn't have a phone number and we have to speak with Room Service to order a cake. Talked to room service and they had no idea what kinds of decorations/images could be put on the cake, only knew the batter, frosting, and fillings options.

Is this the experience for everyone now? I'm so confused why just last month we could talk to the baker at Boardwalk Bakery and now we are only "allowed" to talk to Room Service for the resort. :confused3 They even told us we should be talking to WL since we'll be staying there and they can decorate cakes with images and such too. Uh, no, they can't. We've already talked to WL a couple times about this, and you can see on this thread that they only do flowers and such.

So confused. :sad2: Wanted to get my cake ordered Friday, but no dice since the lady knew nothing about what images I could get. Any advice?

Did you try the Boardwalk Bakery phone number on page one?

Boardwalk Bakery 407-939-5175

You can only get the zebra cake if you are dining or staying at the AKL. You can get it for room delivery or get it delivered to Boma or Jiko.

Someone mentioned a zebra cake. Where and how do I get one?

We are doing both-staying and dining. Where do I order one? And does someone have a picture of the zebra cake?

Does anyone know if its possible to have a Dumbo or Bambi cake made? can GF Bakery copy images if i found one that i wanted as the design??

If you do have images used for your cake i presume you just email the pic over to them or is it something you need to send in the post??

Sorry for all the q's, we re not going till Oct so am just trying to get as clued up on this subject as possible before having to actually call them.

If anyone has seen such a cake made or something similar please could you post a pic as id love to see what they can do with this kind of design. Not sure whether they can create a design a round the characters mentioned or whether the only thing they can do is copy an image given to them (hope that makes sense)

Thanks everyone

I called them last week, and just wanted to inform you they have no pastry chef anymore, so the zebra cake is only one standard cake. Vanilla with vanilla buttercream with ganache and stripes. She told me they do not offer anything else but that one. It was 40 some odd dollars (under 50) From what she told me it's a very standard cake since they have no pastry person.

Yeah I knew that AKL only does zebra cakes now.

Just got back from AKL and here is the birthday cake I ordered for DD2. My choices were:

6 inch white
6 inch chocolate
6 inch zebra
Mickey cake (no inscription allowed)

I chose the 6 inch zebra to go along with our AKL theme. It tasted just okay to me but my girls loved it.

I was looking for info on AKL Zebra cakes, this is from 2007 March or April I think...

gosh we are going to be eating at Chef Mickey's for my bday.. if only my dh would think of doing something like this!!

Yup, that's the one. It now goes to the Boardwalk Resort's Room Service number, whereas just last month we actually talked to the Bakery. I don't get it; why would they do that and have you speak to people who don't even know how the cakes can be decorated?:headache:

I ordered one for myself 2 years ago because I KNEW dh didn't have a clue that Disney even offered cakes! I decided to just treat myself! You should do the same! :thumbsup2

OK, here is the cake I orderd from 1900 Park Fare for our anniversary. It was a 6" dairy free chocolate cake, with white chocolate mousse filling and dairy free vanilla buttercream icing (DS is lactose intollerant, but won't eat anything but the icing so i didn't worry about the dairy in the filling). I wanted a White Chocolate Lady and the Tramp, but they didnt' have a mold. So she said she could do a screen print on chocolate. And I wanted the "8 yrs of magic" on a chocolate scroll. Well we didn't get that, and the screen print on chocolate ended up being just an edible image they stuck next to the cake. Not good. It was $45.

The cake tasted wonderful, and DH and the kids were all very impressed with it. But I knew it wasn't right, so it ruined it for me. I mean the edible image was totally screwed up!! Something like that is supposed to LAY on top of the cake, not be just propped up. And i also specifically told her i DIDN'T want an edible image. I wanted the image painted on the white chocolate. Oh well, just remember to be very very very specific about what you want.

And as for the chocolate covered strawberries..... :guilty: :guilty: :guilty: :guilty: :guilty: I completely and totally forget all about them. We never once went into the food court the entire trip, and the day i was supposed to get them, i ended up packing things up and jsut wandering around the resort while everyone else napped. I didn't even remember i ordered them until on the bus trip back to the airport! UGH!
