I got a call back from the chef at POP yesterday. Asked about the strawberries. He was a bit thrown that I wasn't asking for a cake. :lmao: But he said they get fresh strawberries every day for smoothies, so he didn't see why they couldn't do chocolate covered strawberries for me. He said he would call back if there were any problems, so i guess we'll just wait and see!
[/QUOTE]Did the chef give you a price? And how many did you order?

No price, and I just asked for 8-10 strawberries. They're just for DH, dd and ds since I can't eat them. Just something nice for them. I'm going to call him back about a week before our trip, just to make sure they are available.

I'll be waiting for your post.

Have a wonderful trip. :wizard:

So now they do deliver to POP!?! :confused3

Are you sure the cake was coming from the GF or BW bakery? Or maybe they meant the POP food court, I hope not. I just hope that it's true. :)

Anyone hear if BW bakery delivers or even makes chocolate strawberries yet? I'm hoping to have some available (delivery or the dreaded pick-up) when I get a room at the POP. :upsidedow

I contacted Sandra again to "clarify" the situation...she is at the BW Bakery...she told me when they receive calls at the GF Bakery they are transfered to the BW...she confirmed they DO deliver to the POP...my suggestion, if you would like a cake delivered or have questions about delivering one, contact Sandra at the BW Bakery for accurate information.

Btw...here is my $292 cake

18" Marble with Bailey's Mousse

BEAUTIFUL!!! A lot of wonderful detail has gone into this cake!

Nice Cake! Bailey's Mousse! YUM!! I need to try that!

That cake is beautiful but THREE HUNDRED DOLLARS??!??! :scared:

Yeah I know. B/c of my location I wasn't allowed to upgrade my wedding cake from the standard Sunset Pointe cake so we did this cake so we could at least get a cake we really wanted with detailing. Considering the amount of work that went into it, including the mickey, we didn't mind as we wanted something that was us.

That being said, next year, we are most likely doing the mini castle cakes for our anniversary or the Cinderella Slipper Cake. We'll decide once it gets closer. We don't have the top layer to our wedding cake because Wilderness Lodge Luggage Services decided they wanted to destroy it despite the huge FRAGILE on the box.

Actually.....that looks like a 3" cake. An 18x3 wedding cake will serve about 120 people. Average pp price is $2.00, add .50 for the special filling, and another $1pp for the Fondant. So now you are looking at $3.50 for 120 servings. Not including the chocolate mickey topper and extra detailing on the top, that cake should have cost about $420. From other posts, we know that Disney charges about $35 for the chocolate mickey. So you're looking at probaly a $450 cake, for $292, which probably included tax!

All I can say is GREAT DEAL!!!! :thumbsup2

okay, this may have been answered in another part of this thread. If so I apologise but here goes. If I want to order a cake from the GF bakery (I think the ones baked at this bakery look yummy), can I pick it up from the bakery and take it to a different location (eg Chef Mickey's)? I know Chef Mickey's does their own cakes but I like the look of the cakes made at the GF bakery. If this is possible do I order directly with GF bakery or through the cake hotline? Thanks, would be grateful for any info. Also does anybody know of any way you can have balloons or gift baskets delivered to resorts other than the official Disney florists? I can't find anything on their website which is suitable.

GF's bakery is their own, private bakery. There is no actual 'bakery' to walk into and pick it up from like the Boardwalk Bakery. You can call them (GF directly) and ask, but others have tried and were always told no.

I am so glad you have been posting on this! I had asked the same question a few weeks ago. I wanted to get some strawberries for Dh's bday and hopefully now I can. (We'll be staying at POP) Please let us know how this works out!:thumbsup2

Ok I have a delimma! Ds will be celebratign his 5th bday at wdw on aug 8th. WE were originally goign to LTT for his bday, but plans have changed, so cake plans need to change. Here are our choices:

Order a cake to be delivered to our room at AKL.
pro- its on his bday
con- We are going to Arabian Nights that night, so no clue when we will be back to the resort!

Order a cake for CRT lunch on our first full day at MK
pro- when know exactly when we will be there, having a cake at CRT would be pretty neat
Con- Its 4 days before his bday, in fact its closer to my bday!

Order a cake at Cali Grill 2 days before ds's bday
Pro- again, we know where we will be.
con- its not his bday, and I am not sure its the sort of place he would like to celebrate at!

So what seems best? Which would have the best cakes? I guess another option would be ordering a cake from AKL on the night before his bday? I dont want to order it for sci fi that night as its hard to celebrate if you are sitting in front of one another. Nor Boma's on tues as I want to take full advantage of their apparantly extensive dessert buffet.

You'll be there before me! :thumbsup2 Try calling Pop directly, and ask for Rob in Bakery/Catering. See what he says!

Sorry if this was asked before. I looked and couldn't find it.

Can you walk into the BW bakery and buy a 6" cake? If so, will they write something on it for you?

This is what I would choose. Celebrating at a restaurant would be more fun than celebrating in the room for a child, I would think. Plus, CRT is a pretty cool place to be when you celebrate. And, getting it earlier in the trip will give you more time to eat it throughout the week. I don't really think it matters that it's not exactly his birthday. 4 days is close enough for me. We usually choose the day that is most convenient for us even here at home, for example, we almost never have parties on the kids' actual birthdays but rather choose the weekend closest to it so it's more convenient for others to come. :goodvibes

I know that this has probably been asked a dozen times before, but can they do a custom cake at Narcoossee's?? I want to do something special for my DH on our first night. It is kind of an early anniversary trip (anniversary in December, trip in October). Has anyone ever done a custom cake there before and if so do you have any pics?? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, one more question...how far in advance can a person order a cake??

Here are pictures from my birthday. We stayed at BWV in a studio and it was fabulous. DBF had a cake delivered to the room from the Boardwalk Bakery. The cake was marble in the middle... amazing.
