I am going to surprise my DH for his birthday with a special dinner at the Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show. I was thinking about getting a birthday cake for him. Has anyone ever had a birthday cake brought out at one of the Disney dinner shows? I am looking for any neat Polynesian themed cakes for him. Anyone had any Poly themed birthday cakes? I need some ideas. Also, if I did decide to go with the 6inch cake, do I just ask for this when we check-in or should I call ahead of time, since this is a dinner show? Thanks! :goodvibes

Does anyone know if they make a Fantasmic cake with Mickey in his sorceror's hat? If so, any pictures?

Ok. I've been attempting to post our Star Wars cake! No computer problems now. Just technical difficulties. :upsidedow

I've got it uploaded to photobucket. I did the insert image, lots of different ways. I thought the forums and bulletin boards code should work. I'm going to take a break. Ugh. I'll try again either later tonight or tomorrow.

It's a cute cake! :)

click on the one at the bottom that uses the IMG in the link... it should say copied and then insert it here and that should work...

Good Luck!

Oh my gosh! I would love to see the Star Wars cake! Where did you get it? I want so back to get one for my son's birthday in 3 weeks when we go. Details please! Thanks so much! :worship:

When you use Photobucket use the IMG code, right click the text and copy and then use the "Insert Image" button that shows up when composing a message. Click the "Insert Image" button, insert/paste the text that you copied from Photobucket into the box that pops up and click OK. If you see
B] twice and [B]
twice just delete one of each and that should do it. If it doesn't work you might want to make sure that your Photobucket account isn't passworded so that images are private only.

HTH because I'd really love to see the Star Wars cake. :)

I'd also love to hear where you ordered it from, where you had it, etc. Thanks!

Both my boys had birthdays the week after Thanksgiving. I ordered it about 10 days before we arrived thru the cake hotline.

I made the chocolate pieces and took them down in our suitcase then put them on the ears. They won't personalize this cake at all. It was waiting for me at the POR bakery/food court when we arrived.

I thought the face was fondant at first but it was chocolate. The boys ate all that one night.

Youngest smeared the chocolate onto the mouth. Before that it was fine!
Very rich and good. We ate it for breakfast a few mornings.

Thank you. I actually did all of that the other night. I tried it so many ways I was cross eyed. I kept the double IMG, deleted one of the double sets (one on the front, one on the back). I tried the code, the forum code, you name it. All with the insert image button. The closest I came to seeing an image was a line. :upsidedow

I'll be ready to give it another try a little later tonight. I do want to share the pictures. We were very happy. My little guy was so surprised. I used the phone number on the first post of this thread. Worked like a charm. Loved the cake! Loved the staff at Coral Reef. Can't say enough good things about them. I really can't. You can't go wrong with a birthday there in my experience. They were terrific. Terrific atmosphere.

Ok. I'll get back on later tonight. Thanks again. :) :goodvibes

Hey all, just to update you from our post Thanksgiving trip. Really appreciate all the info. you all provided in this thread. :worship: I wasn't sure I was going to be happy with the cake I ordered but it was great! The birthday boys loved, loved, loved it. Dinner at Chef Mickey's, 10" vanilla, white choc. mousse w/strawberries, choc. buttercream frostening. Total was $40 and it was really great. We didn't even cut it at the restaurant but it was eaten by the time we were ready to come home a few days later. Also, I have seen some worries about Chef Mickey's lately and just to let you know that we couldn't have asked for a better spot for the birthday dinner. When they brought out the cake they had the characters do a parade w/all the kids waving napkins and they all followed the waiter out with the cake. Then the waiter had Mickey come over when we sang Happy Birthday. I didn't think they would do all that and the boys said it was their best day ever! And, the cake was very moist and delish!!!! Really glad I ordered it for my nephews as I think it was why they got so much attention. I saw others getting their cupcakes while we were eating dinner and they had the kids do the napkin waving parade and the boys joined in. Then later when the waiter was going to bring the cake he said to keep the boys at the table and they started another parade so all the kids came to our table with the cake. The boys were so tickled and felt so special it was just great! I am going to try to post a picture but this will be a first for me so I hope it works and isn't too big or too small.

I hope the pics aren't too big (can't believe it actually worked on my first try). Are these too big that I will get in trouble with the mods for size restrictions? I'm not very savvy with the all pic thing.

Also, just fyi on the Stitch cake in case anyone is wondering....the holes in the cake are where the candles were. Didn't think to take the close up pic until after we lit the candles and took them out. They put candles on each side for each boy. I had candles to give to them at the podium but they said they would provide them unless they were special candles.

Okay, I am attempting to post a pic of my DD's B-day cake from 1900 Park Fare at the GF.

Okay here are some other pics of the same cake. It was fondant with white cake and fresh strawberries and custard. It was gorgeous but the taste was blahhhhh...We stayed at the GF during Christmas.

We also celebrated my DH's b-day while we were at the GF and here is his cake that was waiting in the room when we returned from MVMCP. It was also "just okay".
