madimouse,

please tell me how much that cake cost you got for your daughter's birthday. That is EXACTLY what I am looking for. Please tell me what you called it when you ordered it and how much it is. How many do you think it would feed? I am soo psyched at how cute it is and I LOVE it.

Thanks so much !!!!

I ordered it through GF's Private Dining. I believe the number is on the first page of this thread. I was in constant communication with Linda Sglata, too. Very nice CM!!!! It is called the small mad hatter's cake. I was told it would feed at least 20 people. The cake was $125.00. I pd for it after breakfast and we were on the DDP. My DD was in awe with the cake as well as The Mad Hatter. He was at our table at least 20 minutes...no joke!

MadiMouse,

Thanks so much for the quick reply. I am totally in love with this cake. Did you get to pick the colors you wanted also? I was wondering if they would do my wedding colors. I showed it to my fiancee and he said, " Yeah, that's nice baby, lol" So, I am going to order it asap and make sure it's taken care of. You said the taste was only o.k. though, any recommendations that you or others would have for it to be yummy?

By the way, I am in Anderson, SC. Just a hop, skip and a jump from you guys. Do you drive when you go to disney or fly? We are driving for the wedding with all the stuff we will have and hope the babies ( 9 and 6 ) sleep some of the way if we start at some rediculous time in the am.:dance3:

Thanks so much for the help, you rock !!

Hi MrsJones,

I pm'd you as well. Yes, I was able to pick my colors. I actually first placed the order back in July. I did call from time to time and Linda made sure to call me. In the pm that I sent you, I mentioned why the taste was just okay. Next time I will NOT get the fruit filling and just stick with white chocolate filling or buttercream. I honestly believe the cake was made earlier in the week. The cake was so cold it was "sweating". My DH was looking at me like I was crazy when I started crying when they brought the cake to the table. They really made a big deal about it and he only half SMILED!! Men, hunh? LOL.

You are just a hop and a skip away. Well, we usually drive since it is only 6 hours away, but we have flown before we had DD. I am doing a trip with Glendamax-from the DIS boards--in June and I plan to fly but for our family week long trip in September, we will probably drive. It's really not too bad. If we can find reasonable flights for September, then we will drive because we like having our transportation to get to DTD, etc.

Congrats on your wedding gurllll....:cheer2: You will soon have the opportunity to say "I'sa married now!" like Celie from the Color Purple. :rotfl2: What are your colors? I am always excited when someone is getting married!!! You can PM anytime you need to ask any questions.

What a cute pic! And I see you've got a cute avatar now too!

Sorry that the cakes looked better than they tasted. Hope your husband appreciated the effort though!

See ya!

Yes, I am grown now. :lmao:
He did have a piece and he really was surprised. But he really enjoyed the other goodies complimentary of the GF.

Okay, so I was reading back in this thread and saw someone say Wilderness Lodge doesn't do the more specialized cakes. That stinks since I wanted to get my birthday cake in May there and just have it in my room. So, I need some advice:

Crystal Palace is where I've having my birthday dinner. Do they do specialized cakes? I was thinking either a castle theme or a Wilderness Lodge theme (so much for that idea!). If they don't, what should I do about a cake? I'm just rather bummed about WL not doing anything other than flowers and such. :sad1:

If anyone can give me some helpful suggestions as to what to do, it'd be much appreciated. :wizard:

I am in the same boat as you. I was hoping to get a cake at WL but they seem so bland. I am not sure what I am going to do now.

I have searched the thread (it took a loooong time  ), but I can't seem to find a cake with Jasmine on it... has anybody ever ordered a Jasmine cake? Thanks in advance!!

Shannon

Ordered DS's birthday cake today finally. :) He has his heart set on a particular cake, because he liked DD's cake from the GFC so much (he wants his cake to be just like hers, but with chocolate frosting LOL), so we had to do a little figuring to decide where we would have it. I originally wanted to have it delivered to our room at Wilderness Lodge, but they don't do the strawberry & custard filling. We're having his birthday dinner at Kona, so I decided to order the cake for that evening.

I didn't catch the name of the woman I spoke with, but she was very helpful and understood just what I wanted. Vanilla cake, custard & strawberry filling, chocolate buttercream frosting. I'd originally wanted chocolate fondant, but they don't do that at Kona and it isn't something that mattered enough to do the cake a different night. As far as decorations, I requested Mickey sprinkles and no flowers, but didn't do anything special as far as characters. She also asked about colors and I said red or blue, which she commented would go well with the sprinkles. I can't wait to see what they come up with!

We're having the cake on Jan 19 and I'll probably have internet access for at least a couple days while we're there, so I'll post pics as soon as I have them.

I think I have finally figured out what I am ordering but I need some opinions. We will be eating dinner at 1900 PF and will be celebrating DD and DS birthdays together. So I want to get one cake, if possible. I decided chocolate cake w/ custard and strawberries with chocolate buttercream with edible image of Lilo and Stitch or Donald and Daisy. There will be 17 of us at dinner, 11 adults and 6 kids. Will a 10" cake be enough?

TIA

They say the 10" serves 16, so it'd be close. Personally, I think it would be plenty, because Disney's cakes are very rich/sweet and pretty tall.

I think it will be plenty too. Since PF is a buffet and people will want to sample the desserts too, everyone will probably want just a slice (probably smallish). I wish we didn't have so much left over cake!

(* I did try to post the Star Wars cake again. No luck. I'll try it again when I'm not so frustrated with it. :badpc: )

Has anyone ordered a birthday cake for California Grill? My dh will be eating there, with some buddies, in a week or so. His birthday is the day before that, so I wanted to get him a special 50th birthday cake for after dinner. But, I'm not sure if the Calif Grill does this. Any thoughts?
