Hey everyone! DH and I are thinking about going to Disney in Dec next yr instead of Aug. So I still wanna do a cake, but it would be more of like a merry christmas / thank you cake. So here what I was thinking, a cake that features the FAB 5 all decked out in their christmas outfits. Does anyone know if any restraunt will do that? It could be a drawing or better yet little figurines on the cake. If anyone has done this before, I would LOVE to see a pic of it and if you could tell me how much it cost as well. Thanks!!!!

This was just last Tuesday. 11/20 at the Crystal Palace. It was so cool. My son ate the Mickey and it tasted like plastic. The inside of the cake was great!!

Hello, we are going to be at CBR for my daughters 9th birthday. We are having dinner at Chef Mickeys but I was thinking about getting a cake delivered to our room instead, around lunchtime. I think I read that the cake will come from boardwalk bakery, does anyone know if this is correct? Also, do they try to jib you out of options because it is going to a hotel? It just seems like so many people get the run around, I want to know what to expect before I call to order it. I am hoping to just get a 8inch, which is going to be way too much for the four of us, but I want to get it customized. I am worried they are going to say I need to get a 10 inch. So I was wanting to get the fondant with the silver mickeys. Does anyone know if they frost the cake before they put the fondant on? I figure they do, but I need to know, because what is a cake without frosting, right? Does anyone have a pic of a custom cake from Chef Mickeys, or one that they ordered at CBR? Also, how much of a pain would it be to go to the boardwalk bakery (that is what it is called right?) and pick up the cake ourselves? Our daughters are going on the pirate cruise at our hotel, so I will have a few hours to go get it, but I want to make sure we will be back on time, and we would need to use Disney transportation. Thank you for any answers.:)

Did you order that one ahead of time or at check-in? I'm having my birthday lunch at the Crystal Palace in 3 weeks and was debating on whether to order in advance or just wait until I check-in at the podium.

I'm so excited! I just had the best experience on the phone with someone at the Poly. We are doing a Wishes cruise for my son's birthday and I wanted to have the cake on the cruise, so was told to call private dining. I talked with Jenny (I think that was her name -LOL) and she was just great. She gave me all the yummy options, confirmed everything and was just really pleasant to deal with.

We're getting a 10" chocolate with dark chocolate mousse and whipped cream frosting with Peter Pan on it. I'll post pictures when we get back!

I haven't gone through all 166 pages, but has anone done a military cake? DH will be celebrating his 20 year mark in the Army and I'd like to get him a cake when we go to the Yachtsman Steakhouse one night. Any suggestions?

Does anyone have pictures of cakes at Coral Reef??? I've looked through this entire thing and I don't think there is a single one.:confused3 I am curious as to what they can/can't do exactly.

Although the cake I ordered from my daughter is the same as others posted on here, I made one small change to it: I asked that they put pink frosting on the cake instead of it being all white. I had thought, in my mind's eye, that the entire outside of the cake would be pink but they did the cake with white frosting and used pink frosting for the trim. The results were very pretty and I was not unhappy with the outcome. I got a 10" cake with whipped cream frosting (absolutely delicious), chocolate cake with custard and strawberries filling. The cake itself was a litte on the dry side but the filling was wonderful. There were many people looking at this cake and smiling at my daughter when it was delivered to her. She, and her cousins who were celebrating with us, were very pleased. The waitress happily gave us a box to take the leftovers home with us. All in all it was a good experience.

Thank you so much for all the input on this thread. I have been reading it for most of 2007 and am very thankful to have found out about customized cakes. It made celebrating my DD's 5th birthday even more special.

I tried to add my pictures but can't get them to upload. Anyone have any suggestions for me on posting my pictures?

OK, so I may have went a little overboard on the cakes, but you only turn "double digits" once! The cakes were vanilla cake with white chocolate filling & icing except for Beach Club because "every girl deserves a little chocolate for breakfast once in a while!"

My DD cracks up :rotfl2: whenever anyone sings happy birthday! This was from Liberty Tree Tavern. Overall, this was the best vanilla cake we had.

Beach Club did not have my cake order, but our waitress made sure we got the cake. It was very moist, but not too chocolatey. My brother had forgotten something at the table & when he went back, 2 women were walking by the table & one of the was appalled that we had chocolate cake with breakfast!

DD & I went to Ohana's by ourselves for breakfast & the waitress brought her a cupcake. Its was really good!

The one I was most excited about was the mini castle cake on her actual birthday. Too cute!

Hollywood & Vine did not charge me for the design on the top. This cake was a little drier than the others. Our waitress held the rest of the cake for us while we went to see the Osbourne Lights.

We paid $25 per cake plus $8 for the designs, but I was able to use my Dining Experience Discount. The castle cake was $15.

Thanks to this board, my daughter had a "sweet" birthday! :yay:

DumboFan your daughter is adorable and you can tell she really had a great time! Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for sharing the wonderful cake photos DumboFan!! They are fantastic and Happy Birthday to your DD!! I don't think she had too many cakes at all!!

We are going to dinner at 1900 PK in January to celebrate my DD's 5th b-day and her two cousins birthdays as well. I have hemmed and hawed about getting a large cake for all three of them, but I can't decide. Before our family decided to join us on the trip I was just going to order the mini castle cake for DD. Do you know if you can get the cake part in chocolate icing instead of white? My thought now, since I love the mini castle cake so much and if it is only $15.00, that I would order one for each of the girls. Everyone can get a small bit of cake ( there are seven of us in total) and each birthday girl gets her own castle. Does this sound like too much?

Any other suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.

Suz

On page 2 post #21C there is a great Fab 5 Christmas Cake. My family is going in December, and we were thinking about something along these lines. It looks like that one was done at the MK Bakery.:santa:

Just ordered DS4 birthday cake at the Boardwalk Bakery.
DS has sensory issues and for some reason does not like edible images so I requested a cars theme with out a edible image.

We are getting white cake with one layer dark chocolate mouse one layer of buttercream icing then the whole thing will be iced in buttercream. Thye siad the total will be $50.00 for the 10 inch. Hope it is good. The girl who helped me was awesome and even called me back when the chef had a question about the request because they wanted to get it right. Can't wait

My dd will be celebrating her 13th bday at DW. I am surprising the family with a Wishes cruise with the banner and balloons. Since the boat will be picking us up from WL, I called the dining number for WL and was told that they only make cakes with flowers on them. Is there a way that I can get a more special cake from another bakery delivered to our resort. We will be staying at the club level at WL, if that makes a difference. Also, if anyone has a picture of a cake that they got for a dd (tween or teen) that you highly recommend, please let me know!!!!
Thanks! Only 19 days left!!!!

We are taking my mom for a special Christmas/70th Birthday trip in a few weeks. I'm getting her the mini castle cake at the tea and the slipper at 1900 PF. We are staying at AKL and would like something delivered to the room. However, I think the zebra stripe cake is just going to be way too much cake. I had thought about tuxedo strawberries. Does anyone know if those are available at AKL, or does anyone have other suggestions?

Oops, I didn't realize I was logged in as my daughter, this is really ugadog99. Thanks!

We just came back from a trip to celebrate our son's 13th b'day. We stayed @ the AKV's and ordered a cake with a safari theme. We didn't want to go with the Zebra cake because they add rum to it and didn't know if he would like it. I asked if they could do something with a safari theme and they did. We had it delivered to our room so that he would be surprised upon our return from dinner. They did such a great job and we were very happy with the outcome. If I can figure out how to post the photos I will. I would advise calling them too bounce some ideas off of them. They were terrific!
If you need the direct #, let me know. I don't have it handy right now.
Happy B'day to your mom - have a great trip!
